i just got scammed today. I've never even heard of a white van scam till my brother told me after i had bought i home theater system for $120 this is some bullshit

I can't believe it - these guys get around! This EXACT same guy pulled up next to me at a gas station in PA 2 years ago and tried to dump speakers off on me while I was pumping gas. He kept hassling me and flashing brochures, so after about 5 minutes of this I told him that his $2000 speakers would be worth $0 if riddled with .45 caliber holes. He backed out of the lot and flew away with his lights off so I couldn't see his plate. Told the cashier to call the cops if he ever showed up again.

Yup believe it or not this scam is over 20 years old and has been going on all over North America and Europe as well. The names of the speakers are different depending on the area, but the general scam has remained basically the same all these years. They'll say they have extra speakers from a job that they have to get rid of, will show you some phoney flier that says they are worth thousands of dollars, and then sell them for $300-$800 or more. Many times they even try to get $20 more for beer!

I bought a Divinci home theater set from a white van in Van Nuys @ the plant by what used to be a Washington Mutual bank....they said it was complete with the reciever and showed my the wires....there was no receiver....I had to research and bought a Harman Kardon from a friend of mine for $150.00 that was the come up!
