  • awsome song

  • What a great version of this song

    sunaj

  • As I read these comments, the one that took my notice was from eric72265....Merle and Johnny R. as well as G. Strait, have come mighty close...phyllis...

  • I really like the cover that Merle Haggard and Jewel did too.

  • great song

  • This is probably the best version of this song, along with Randy Travis' version... Although nothing tops Keith Whitley's version that he did during live shows.

  • @dannynanner What about Merle? or Johnny Rodriquez? Have you heard their versions?

  • @eric72265 Yes, I don't think they compare at all.

  • @dannynanner Keith adored Lefty and modeled his singing after Lefty's legato style. When people said that Keith sounded too much like Lefty, Keith took it as the highest praise one could give him.

  • @RossM3838 Its a shame Keith passed away before he recorded more of Leftys covers. Hell, its a shame period he was a great singer, one of a few from the 80's i like to listen to. Lefty and Keith both great singers.

  • lefty frizzell is merle haggard favorite singer; he is the reason merle became a singer too!

  • @gabachabonita707

Yup, Lefty gave a teenaged Merle his first taste of being a country singer on stage. He even lent Merle the use of his old Gibson guitar. Years later Merle admitted to copying Lefty's voice and phrasings in his autobiography, "Sing Me Back Home: My Life."

  • @zany2x Merle now owns that Gibson...

  • Steve Uhrik from Retro Fret guitars bought it from the family and he sold it.

They have pictures of the guitar all over their website.

  • The Frizzell family has the guitar -- not Merle. It was in the Hall of Fame and it was returned to them.

  • @dartanian6 I thought Merle bought it...at least that's what it says in the new book that David Frizzell wrote.

  • @gtrjames1 The hall of fame in Nashville returned it to the Frizzell family in 2005...Retrofret wound up with it, and Merle Haggard owns it now.

  • What a beautiful humble song, great lyrics, that's the way love goes, losing makes me sorry and yet his honey went with him and tells him not to worry, nowadays it's more like:if you loose,I goes.Love is the music God creates,it just grows,so very true, they don't make songs like this anymore, thanks carolinagirlr1760 for posting,Eric.

  • :*-) Thank You Sooo much for posting this!!! OMG. I love Lefty!! He was truly the best. You just don't hear music like this anymore....

  • Merle Haggard owns that guitar now.Story I heard was he had Marty Stuart go get it for him and he paid $50,000.

  • @JohnLeePedimore he got a bargain.

  • @JohnLeePedimore

The Frizzell family has the guitar -- not Merle. It was in the Hall of Fame and it was returned to them.

  • She says honey don't worry. Where can I find that gal!

  • you are correct sir he is great bill mack plays him all the time on his sirius show

  • Lefty Frizzell was one of the best Country singers ever!

  • @4712star Thank you :) He's my Great Uncle
