I hate him but i think it was funny still. And I never though the onion meant death to glenn beck. I don't either want him to die, but he's an annoying prick still.
I used to like Glenn Beck when I lived in America for a year. It was one of the few things i ever watched on tv. I thought he was some sort of libertarian, but he's changed into being some sort of paranoid who thinks muslims are out to get him. And that America will turn Socialist? I completely disagree. I do value your interpretation, but just do not see how the video is anything but designed to get people to not listen to glen beck. They try to get people to believe beck is a dirtbag, so they will never actually watch his show and listen to what he says, because everything he is saying is true, and the government hates it. I don't think the majority of people took the Glenn Beck bit seriously in the context with which it was shown however, I do think that the same majority in this country that whats a public option, wouldn't mind if Glenn Beck died. Literally and/or figuratively. I thought the only people sedentary and narrow minded enough to go to bat for Beck was conservative nuts and the elderly....I guess the youth of America IS getting dumber.

the onion was most definitely making fun of glenn beck, by how much ridiculous, unchecked and clownish hate that he spews himself... not defending him. they could also be hitting two birds with one stone by making fun of those who wish his death, and just the mere fact that beck is just a divisive, rabble rouser jackass.

my dear, I think your over estimating the onion. It was probably vague loathing for glen beck mixed in with the general absurdity of a media outlet caring less for the victim then regretting who the victim wasn't. these are the people who wrote a story long ago about dolphins evolving apposable thumbs, or the G12 bullying two small European nations into fighting. its for laughs and if you read too much into it your just going to make your head hurt.

Of course, any moron can watch Beck as much as they want, and Beck deserves (choke) the full rule of law as much as anyone. Unless we finally discover the rumored bodies in his underground cellar freezer. Rosy cheeks he has. That video can actually be interpreted both ways. It can be viewed as making fun of people who hate Glenn Beck so much, but it can also be considered as mocking Glenn Beck as a person. The Onion does tend to be more liberal-leaning and although they would not endorse the murder of anyone, most of their staff probably hates his guts and would see fit to satire their own views and those of others.

I agree, and I think theOnion intentionally uses hermeneutics to their advantages, this way they can reach more viewers.
In this case, both Glenn Beck fans *and* critics were amused, and thought theOnion was on *their* side.

@zetanato finally someone who has it right. contrary to what the girl here video suggests, theonion did it to be funny not to support beck. theonion is always pointing out the stupid things the media does, the whole purpose of theonion is to mock the media. if the media was predominantly conservative and they were slamming obama in every newscast just like beck, then he would have been the subject of this video. theonion is sophisticated satire, expect more than one angle as zetanato suggests.

No, I disagree, insatiableperson. The Onion joke was that Glenn Beck was so hated that typical people are looking for news of his death at every opportunity. The emphasis is on how hated he is, rather than how ludicrous the criticism is.
