499 for 16GB and no video recording? No thank you. I will settle with a Canon T2i dslr which costs the same and while it may not be as small and while it cant change depth of field on the go, it can take excellent 1080p video and can certainly take better looking photos

refocusing in post-production is a interesting concept with a ton of potential. but the images people are taking with these cameras are NOT impressive...just check out the lytro website if you dont' believe me. for $400-500 you could do much better.

@madmax2069 it could look like its moving slightly cause of the refraction of light in a hot night , as for the case of anything moving really fast who said it cannot be something made by the americans but kept under a bunker all day so that no one can see it, a black project. I think its much more likely that its that compared to an alien craft that had travelled millions of light years just to see ur face.

Surprised to see so many negative comments about this camera. This is an awesome step forward. You wont ever in the near future be able to get this on the iPhone. Check out the specs on Lytro's page and you'll understand why. I am more excited to see if it will ever have the capability to have multiple focusing points on one image. For professional photographers this will be a great tool and for the regular point and shoot people this will be a lot of fun to play with.

@Skelington27 People always get edgy when a paradigm shift takes place within their comfort zone. I feel it a little myself too, having spend copious amounts of time and money on glass for the best depth of field results. But this technology is going to come, whether we/I/you like it or not. Best thing to do is be excited about it! Imagine, for instance, the possibility of tilt-shifting with this thing !

@dylanctd Are you willing to pay $500 for that feature. You can make the same affect by taking a photo with a large depth of field and using Photoshop to blur out certain areas to choose where you want the camera to be in focus. Its a hell of alot cheaper than buying this.
