  • Carnera 's fights were set up by Owney Madden, it is a proven fact. The only fight that Madden could not fix was the Baer and Louis fight. The rest is history.

  • carnera was on obviously on steroids, what a pussy.

  • @onokaoonokao Growth hormone use on humans wasn't even "invented" in that era so makes you wonder how the hell Carnera was so big?

  • @HSJ90 well if it wasnt obvious, i was joking. and there are simply people who produce more gh without it having to come from the outside. you can usually recognize it by big feet, hands, or a barrel chest. naturally, they build muscle more easily too. extremes in this usually have those huge jaws like hong man choi and the like.

  • @onokaoonokao Carnera was just naturally a very big guy and trained hard. If he were on HGH he'd look like one of today's WWE superstarts. 6'6' 280-300lbs and ripped.

  • @onokaoonokao dude, come on. just drink your fucking brawndo and shut up

  • Comment removed

  • shit referee--he didnt count at all or properly .

  • MMMMM

  • All Carnera's haters are nothing but the natural product of this rotten society where only the winner has the right to exist. Carnera was a great fighter, incredibly brave, honest, never scared to be knocked out. A real legend and role model.

  • @bordereye

Sadly, Carnera possessed no legitimate boxing skill.

  • @Easleytee actually hes a better boxer than i was lead to believe by popular opinion.whata brute

  • he got right back up, 15 rounds or more, these were the real tough guys.

  • both carnera and baer have made into the list of greatest.but baer is the toughest boxer i have ever seen...

  • @ThePunk786

carnera was NOT a great fighter.

  • both carnera and baer have made into the list of greatest.but baer is the toughest boxer i have ever seen...

  • Wonder ! perfect fight XD

  • This fight was a real joke with these 2 boxers with very limited skills.

  • @218923241 lol, you kidding right???? Carnera was the greatest of all time, this was real boxing. Sure, this fight was wasn't a great one, but limited skills??? Ali, Tyson, and the rest...didn't have shit on Carnera, believe me....

  • Que filme diferente???OBrasil é o melhor boxer vale tudo do mudo.

  • also does anyone know the reason for the low guards during this time?

  • @kaindrg the guy is huge 6'7.. also the technique developed you can see the opponent does not have a good defensive guard etc and his punches are not technically spot on

  • was this footage sent to korea to be shone?

  • lmao, it's in korean!

    네!

  • I'd like to see the whole match, with the missing rounds

  • some rounds are missing.

  • could we talk about the Baer's push to take a fake knockout?

  • and no one said that baer hit under belt, or primo has his hip brokn? fuck

  • davidrockyriverohio

come say that shit in Italy hahahahahahaha

  • @filthysouth88 come say Dante in america...

  • Well back then a legitimate Title win wasn't exactly legitimate. Not to mention it's pretty well known that Sharkey took money for a dive. I don't know which movie you mean.

As for this fight, hey he was a big guy, but he did go down, 11 times in less than 1/2 the rounds. This was no doubt a legitimate fight, but it's this era more so than any other that's plagued with Organized crime. Now, I'm not trying to down Carnera, that's just the truth. It's sad that's the case, but it's true

  • @tftmc aside the ones that still mistaken the movie with Borgart with the reality no one right now still believe that Sharkey took a dive.

  • @criceto Regardless whether Sharkey took a dive, it doesn't matter. Everyone knows Carnera was tossed around by Mob guys, who robbed him blind, which is why he had to do the wrestling and the movies in the first place. They robbed him of a real title shot way before the title shot. Back then people didn't see Carnera as a boxer, more of a sideshow, cause he's so big.

If you don't believe me, than you talk to all the old boxing guys I talk to. You smell their shit breath telling these tales.

  • @tftmc Soresi was less honest and capable of See and we have an agreement but, yes it does matter since aside the infamous movie , no one today seriusly believe that fixed career. Sharkey claimed that it was legit until he die, Uzducum and Longrahn were beaten after that, Carnera has good skills and some weapon in his arsenal.Primo was so big that they found second rate boxers for training him to the title and promotion his image at the same time. It happened even in these days.

  • @criceto Well I didn't say that I personally believe that Sharkey took a dive, but most people I know think he did. I'm undecided & I what I said before I did so incorrectly. I am in NO WAY trying to down Carnera. He was a good, nice man & for his size a pretty talented boxer. Primo was 'Primo' for the Title Fight w/ Sharkey. This fight here was surely legit. Primo had heart, no one doubts that......But Baer is probably a top 3 Puncher, he hit as hard, if not harder than Liston, even Foreman.

  • @criceto All I'm saying is, this is what the older "Greatest Generation" feels. I'm not convinced, and most 'younger' folks aren't either that Sharkey took a dive. My grandfather who is still kicking & his old boxing pals he knows from his uncle being fighter in that era. 1-time 175lb Champ. From that I know some of the Catskill & New Paltz guys from meeting Floyd Patterson & his son (not Tracy) who lived nearby. I used to train/spar even had a few fights & tourneys when I was a kid up there.

  • @tftmc I don't think that Sharkey took a dive, perhaps he simple give up after being k.o, after all he was in decline and a discontinue fighter, went by a gifted point victory over the much smaller Walker , he did not fight for a whole year, too.

  • @criceto Well regardless, those were the glory days of boxing. I think we can agree there. Real fighters who fought 15 rounds every month in their prime. They trained constantly & fought 100+ fights. 50+ is a above average today.

You look at these boxers today, especially the Heavyweights, you wonder what happened. And you can clearly see the US has lost all potential Heavyweight Boxers to School/College sports like Football, Basketball, and worst, glorified bar fights - MMA

  • @tftmc well, I enjoy mma but U have a point here. The most gifted athletes today did not choice boxing anymore.

Primo was stronger and better of Wepner, for istance and Ali punched a little less harder than Luis, so I think that a healthy ,focused Carnera with a good game plan would close the distance with Ali in a fantastic battle.

  • @tftmc

Calling the sport of Mixed Martial Arts "glorified bar fighting" is the most ignorant thing a man can say....

  • ANOTHER ITALIAN BITCH, HAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @davidrockyriverohio like clinton and his beautiful collegue or bush with his bautiful, perfect grammatical correct phrases?

Or like sport pro, somethin like Marion Jones (roids), Ben Johnson (roids)? Or the beautiful exclusive Merritt (World wide champion positive to roids)? Or we want talk about Armstrong, positive six times in 1999 to epo?

    If those are your champions...

  • Fascinating to see a 6' 3.5" man fight as the smaller man, & do it the way an experienced small man would do it. Baer ate some of Primo's best shots easily, right at the beginning. Either he came to the fight knowing that he didn't have to fear Primo's power, or he found out for sure right away.

  • I feel bad for Carnera. He was a good person, but he was pushed into bad deals, and his managers made him broke. He fought opponents who took dives, and really we wasnt that bad of a fighter to have that happen.

With real training, and good manager and promoter he could have been a real contender. I have nothing against Carnera, but this fight goes to show he wanted so badly to prove he had the boxing skill, but really Baer was just too much for Carnera.

    Amazing fight, none like it

  • @tftmc haha Primo won the title in a legit way and fought 11 rounds, winning some, with a only one usable leg agaist the strongest contender of his day and one of the strongest punchers ever.

Primo was pretty good, the old pregiudice, lead by the infamous movie, were all shattered by the availabiliy of some real footage of him.

  • A Spanish video? lol

  • the great primo carnera starred as ANTEUS and wrestled Steve Reeves in HERCULES UNCHAINED

  • Max Baer: scorretto- antisportivo- presuntuoso-maleducato..

  • baer is suck punch like a women

  • Primo had a lotta heart. He didn't stay down. Correct me if I am wrong but at this point I am not sure Baer (in his career) wanted to inflict his most powerful punches, I think he held back & clowned because he was afraid to hurt or kill someone accidently.

  • Baer clowned in most of his fights, but he is windmilling right hands in this fight. When a fighter is windmilling a power punch there is NO holding back. I am 100% sure he is not holding back.

  • Baer wants the title, he did not care at this point. He simply cannot sustain the pace and uses the trick to confuse Primo. Without the anke, he could be lost this to point

  • baer's right cross was scary good. a freakin bazooka that seemed to explode on the jaw. additionally, he was an animal in the ring in regard to making it a street fighting nasty back and forth scrap. You can see him just yelling at primo as he goes at it. u see lamotta's viciousness glamorized in movie, but its baer who actually shows that anger in real footage. lastly, many r right here, carnera wasnt a bum. not a good boxer but willard like heart w/ a above avg jab.

  • he was a dirty cheater too

  • The referee looks like he confused his role with that of a spectator. Probably a bought man. Having said that though Primo should never have laced a pair of gloves.

  • wow, i really shouln't have disliked Primo. He probably was a gentle giant in life :(

but Max Baer looked like a punch bag in the beginning.

  • Hyuandai! hyundai! kia shingo!!!

  • Max Baer is Amy Lynn Baxter's grandfather! :-)

  • carnera era forte perchè era friulano, FUARCE FRIUL!!!!!

  • Carnera had a big heart. The last time I recall seeing a defending champion with so muchh heart is when Frazier lost to Foreman in 1973...

  • @007rocksalotmann - I heard Carnera injured his ankle early in the fight, and now it's obvious in this footage. Whenever he was hit hard, he was not able to put any weight on his ankle to catch his balance and just went down in a heap.

Not sure why Baer thought it was cool to taunt an injured opponent who could have quit, but chose to hang in there and keep fighting even though he was taking a pounding.

  • I read much about Carnera and believe he was a very nice man. Not a great fighter, but not as bad as legend has it. And tons of heart in the Baer fight.

  • You can see him try to pivot and fall out because the broken ankle. He shoulded quit, heals and ask for a rematch instead to keep figthting with such injury

  • Carnera had a true fighting heart. Should have taken a count , kept getting up too quickly. Nevertheless, new found Respect to the big man.

  • Carnera looks nowhere near the freak that he was painted to be. Very decent fighter for his time. Probably better than the current Titan N Valuev.

  • Carnera would maul Valuev...

  • Carnera was damn good - so much better than they try to tell you nowadays, like in their bullcrap Hollywood movies where they try to ake him out as a helpless buffoon. Either one of those guys would have made quick work of hype job Haye who can't take punch. I hope that Valuev does the same and shuts him up tomorrow.

  • i hoped the same, but it didnt happen ..i reckon valuev could've taken haye's if he'd been more aggressive and stopped chasing him around the ring like hayes wanted.

Im from the UK,but i still want someone to put flappy mouthed hayes in his place,i doubt he's as good as he thinks he is.

    XD

  • sì ho una riproduzione a casa...era una frattura vera e propria

  • Say what you want about Carnera but he's no bum or phoney. He went 11 round with one of the hardest punchers, Max Baer. If he was a bum he would have been KO'ed in 1 or 2 rounds. At the very least he had fortitude. Schmeling also said he had an underrated jab.

  • PRIMO CARNERA FOR USA PRESIDENT!!!

  • Nicolai Valuev = Primo Carnera

  • primo fai onore all'Italia

  • No Cinderella Man was a pretty good boxing movie but they needed a villan and they chose Max Baer to be that villan. From what i've read Baer was a pretty good guy. One thing for sure his right was a sledgehammer.

  • Cinderella Man was written by Jeremy Schaap who was born in 1969. How could somebody born in 1969 know anything about Max Baer?

  • Yeah I don't think they were trying to make a documentary. Its based on a true story. And Braddocks story is a good one. It just wouldn't be as easy for the viewer to root for Braddock if he took the title from a good natured guy like Baer really was. He was misrepresented in the film but its still one of the best boxing movies ive ever seen. The fight scenes were great

  • Just out of interest I recall seeing a black and white film when I was a young boy in which a large boxer took the 'credit' for killing another boxer when in fact the damage was done by a different fighter. Reading this hisory I now realise this was obviously an attempt to portray the Baer / Carnera situation. Does anyone have any idea what this old film was as I'd be quite interested to know?

  • That was a little before my time but I think maybe the movie youre talking about is called The Harder They Fall. I remember reading about a movie that Carnera sued the filmmakers for being very similar to his life. Ive never seen it though so im not sure. I believe I read it on Primos wikipedia page. Hope this helps

  • Thank you.

  • The movie is weel done but still it pure fiction.

Primo was actually pretty good, not even close to his parody imitation.

With only a usable foot he was able to lead the match (by point) until the 11 rounds.

He would retire in the 3-4 rounds becase the ankle and ask for a rematch.

  • well there is something called research.

Anyways the portrait of Baer was indeed very unfair. There is a good entry in the wekipedia for Baer

  • yes you are right very good guy and very funny too (there are old movies and commercials that reflect that)

Experts say that Baer had one of the most powerfull right cross in boxing history

  • He sure did. They just don't make em like Braddock and Baer anymore. The golden days of boxing are over I think. At least we can watch these classic fights on here

  • did Primo ever fight Two Ton Tony Galento?

  • MUORI BAER D MERDA

  • Baer's was more of a slugger than a boxer, Carnera out jabbed him all the time .

  • c'è più gusto ad essere ITALIANI...

  • The only fighter that Baer killed was Frankie Campbell. The movie was pure false. Baer Jr. is furious about the movie.

  • dam baer could take a punch...carnera was huge!!!

  • Aside from the first 2 rounds and the last, Carnera actually outboxed Baer. Everyone remembers the drama of the knockdowns and conveniently overlook this.

Yes, Baer eventually won but it wasn't as one sided as most people were led to believe.

Watch the WHOLE fight and see for yourselves.

  • Maven: You got to be kidding???? Baer just toyed with Primo as he was a pushover. Most of Carnera's fights were fixed by the mob, you know that. The mob could not touch Baer and the rest is history.

  • Primo is my great uncle, so get your story straight... it wasnt because the mob couldnt touch him it was because Primos boss walked out so the fight wasnt fixed, but carnera was a good fighter none the less.

  • Man: Primo was a beautiful human being, but could not fight. Is it true that Primo had a son who is a doctor????

I heard when Baer died, Primo cried as they in reality, loved each other. Is that true???

  • haha thats such bullshit. its amazing how many faggots go on internet and make shit up. Get a fucking life- Nobody buys that shit

  • uhm. ok my grand pa is andrew carnera my mom is lisa carnera... is it really that unbelievable... i mean, i dont know what to tell u kid its not that really amazing lol

  • its not that its so unbelievable, its just completely untrue. you and i both know it so go ahead talk trash to keep your story alive "kid" but your a fucking joke, and you literally nothing better to do than pretend to a bunch of strangers your related to Primo Carnera? • I think Max Baer's clown style of boxing is called the "pull-up-my-boxing-trunks style." So irritating for an opponent to see, that Max capitalizes on it by poppin' him on the mug in between boxing trunk readjustments.

  • nuts.: They are working on a movie of the life of Baer. Baer played to the crowd and was a fun person. Baer was pure entertainment. to a sport of blood. Baer in reality really never wanted to hurt anyone.

  • Hell, you're talkin' nuts to a guy called numbnuts. Was kind of kiddin', boy! But didn't the movie about James Braddock say Baer actually killed two guys in the ring? Must be true, or otherwise bein' guilty of slander. I mean, how can you say he really never wanted to hurt anyone?

  • nuts: Baer actually killed one guy (Campbell) and that effected him during his whole life. Carnera killed Schaaf, but critics said that the fight between Schaaf and Baer resulted in his death. Go to maxbaerdotorg for the real story.

  • Baer Jr. was furious over the way they portrayed his dad in that stupid movie. Thank goodness it died at the box office.

  • Baer could really hit. Well, thank you for your answers. Yeah, Hollywood is so full of lies. Artistic licence is so full of crap.
