  • Alex, damn you are one cool riffmeister. 0:42

  • wow, you recorded off the tv but managed to put a real soundtrack on here, excellent!

  • i love this song anytime!

  • There is a very 80's reggae vibe going on in this song! And as a Jamaican born and raised, I have to say. "Big Up, RUSH!" Another +1 added to why these guys were and still are amazing. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame better recognize soon!

  • @Tweed242 That's because The Police were a huge influence on Rush, as Neil Peart admitted in the Rush documentary I have on DVD.

  • I swear the last minute of this tune is pure manna from heaven. One of the tunes that helped me survive high school...

  • Awesome! Moving Pictures was a great album to put on the headphones and crank it up!

  • those sunglasses o___O

  • This song is amazing, boys. Fabulous!!!

  • so many things I like about this vid. From the spos hat on Neil to all of the cheesy effects on it. This song holds up so well though.

  • RUSH ON!

  • Neville Longbottom knows how to play guitar?

  • Unstable condition, A symptom of life, Of mental and environmental change. Atmosphereic disturbance, The feverish flux Of human interface and interchange. The impulse is pure; Sometimes our circuits get shorted By external interference. Signals get crossed And the balance distorted By internal incoherence.
  • jeez skrillex has been everywhere!

  • RUSH KICKS ASS! I wish they had more of these music videos in the studio.

  • they had to share sunglasses back then

  • LOVE this song !!

  • USE ALL THE FX (available in the eigthies)!

  • Geddy's suit is so ugly, it's almost looping back to hip.

  • what moron television should still be instead of this moronic reality they run now so sad in the early 80s it was music now its just stupid

  • Who can play bass to this and sing at the same time?

  • @jerrythepotato1919 I CAN :D

  • i like the part where he plays awesome drums

    you know the whole thing?

  • @MrGlenntipton Maybe Geddy Lee. [ Captain Obvious ]

  • 4o\m/

  • @bassguy511 Yourr Funny .

  • At the show in Milwaukee, Geddy said "Everybody got to evaporate from the norm...Oh that's not right?"

  • @HartsChannel I'm still a fan of "One likes to believe in the freedom of Baseball." =D

  • Neil rockin the OG Expos hat FTW!

  • Whats that hanging around Pearts neck? This song just KILLS me. The music is so good its frightening. And the lyrics always stand on their own.

  • 4o\m/

  • This is my favorite song off of my favorite Rush album. Though Permanent Waves is a damn close second for favorite album.

  • this song covers every one from Carlos Casreneda to Frank Llyod Wright! What are you doing?

  • a mic

  • ;;;what's that thing on peart's chest at 1:45 and throughout the video????

  • @CircusEnvy23 Uranium Fuel

  • @CircusEnvy23 A microphone. They used it to get a kind of "Drummers Perspective" on the overall drum sound, wheter it worked or not is debatable, but the drums on Moving Pictures sure sound awesome, don't they?

  • Anybody know what the object taped to Neil's chest is for? Had a buddy back in the day claim it's some kind of "human clock" device. Always wanted to know.

  • @cardinaldriver It's a PZM (pressure zone microphone) mic taped to his chest to get the drum sound from his point of view.

  • @JimGeigerMusic

Thank you seriously...that's amazing. Who would have thunk it! The drums do sound incredible on Moving Pictures. Wonder if this had anything to do with it.

  • Neil in the Montreal Expos hat is just tits!

  • I was programming BASIC on a Commodore Vic-20 when this truly gorgeous video came out.

  • @cardinaldriver farout

  • Is this the actual recording of the song or is Geddy lip-synching? Can anyone edit this and give Pratt a Nationals' cap?

  • @daveywaikiki .......who's Pratt?? And, it's the video they did for the track they put on MTV...that's why it can look out of sync, let alone it was done in 1981 !

  • @metzilla Pratt has been one of Peart's nicknames, read his book "Roadshow: Landscape With Drums"

  • @daveywaikiki ...oh jeeez, ...what a loser I must be!! :) Thanks Dave,....I've always wanted to read that also! Thanks!

  • 0 didn't escalate from the norm.

  • This song kicks ass on the Time Machine tour, the lighting is orgasm-inducing. Actually the lighting for the entire show is orgasm inducing.

  • anybody notice that they have sunglasses on at 0:52 i hope they thought it was as jokes as i did

  • LOVE it !

  • everybody got to deviate from the norm so ture

  • Ah, the famous "Le Studio", as seen in all 3 of Rush's

videos from their album Moving Pictures. Also, the famoun

Le Studio sign is seen in Asia's "The smile has left your eyes"

    video from 1983.

  • anyone know what the acoustic guitar is called @ 3:13? top left- it looks like a double neck on a single body?

  • @MrStool69 Epic.

  • I use to practice the Drum Part , when I was a kid . I had A " Tama Superstar "

Double Bass Drum Set , with " Zildjian " Cymbals, and " Tama Titan Boom

Stands ". And always used " ProMark " Drum Sticks .

  • I use to play this song " Vital signs " , from the " Moving Pictures " Album ;

    when I was a kid . " I Still Love This Song ! "

  • 0:00 - 0:10

Windows Media Player ripped off rush! :O

  • One of my all-time fav Rush songs! Thanks for posting!!!

  • i do wonder, though...who's Norm?

  • @jcfbell3001 Fail its not a person but normality

  • @HALO3SHIZAL

i know, man, it's just a joke...thanks for replying, though

  • @jcfbell3001 yeah you know because i told you

  • @HALO3SHIZAL

lol, dude, you need to get out of denial so you can let the healing begin...

  • @jcfbell3001 he needs to " elevate from the norm "......

  • i love neils hat

  • I always cry when I listen that song.. :(

  • I recognize the sign that says "LeStudio"....LOL. J/K dan. I'm a bit jealous you were there. More than I can say

  • God. So f'in awesome! Could never tire of this song.

  • Recorded at Le Studio in Morin Hieghts Quebec...I recognize the Controls from when I went there as a Kid..

  • The dissonance of life in so many forms. Rush rises above the discourse and keeps the conversation moving forward. Their musical and lyrical expressions can be matched by few.

  • one of my favorite parts from seeing this live was hearing the beginning. I never liked it so much until it was dark and all I heard was that intro blasting. It was awesome

  • i like the part where he says "everybody got to escalate....from the norm..."

  • @jcfbell3001 Geddy Lee's got a badass voice.

  • @jcfbell3001 " elevate "

  • Comment removed

  • ummm,no....4:10...i said 'escalate' because i meant 'escalate'...not 'elevate'...i like your favorites - the corrs are great...

  • @jcfbell3001

    Me too, Buddy.

  • @clarionflyer

    cool man, thanks

  • @jcfbell3001 Good, because that part is fucking awesome.

  • @c0rnp0p5

    lol, no doubt....excellent observation

  • Anyone noticed "Eraser Head" on the wall behind Geddy. I guess they were big fans of David Lynch. this video keeps locking up on me though :(

  • They never play rush music videos on mtv. Only docs and live stuff. That's really not alot considering what they done over an almost 40 year career.

  • @1dgkonig In my opinion it s a good thing that rush hasn´t been kindof spoiled by MTV and other shit.

  • @21380 Yeah, your right. Some very famous classical music pieces are always put in cartoons and movies and when you hear them, it's not that big of a deal. People appreciate them less. Fur elise is one example. On another note, MTV is crap. People really need to stop with this hip hop stuff. Can you believe there was a time only about 30 years ago when there was no such thing as rap.

  • @1dgkonig well, i like rap and hip-hop, but only the vary early stuff, but youre right, mtv today sucks! plus rap these days is just compleatly sexed up! nothing but sex! Sexed up music has runied this earth, but atleast we still got bands like Rush, Yes, ELP (well, EL, atleast, scence Carl is playing with Asia), Genesis, and Asia!

  • Oh, I love that bass line. . .

  • Going to see RUSH tonight in San Antonio....Can't WAIT!!!

    Pure AWESOMENESS!!!!

  • i love this tune and video.....i hope they will release all the videos on dvd soon....i met Geddy @ spring training in Tampa a bunch of years back....i got a pic with him....he was cool ...peace...

  • GREAT show in St. Louis 8/22! ...Yeah, the Crown Plate Mic on Neil's shirt, I had read about it in Musician magazine but didn't know if it was actually used on the final track.

  • fuckin cool!!!! love RUSH!!!!!

  • @tamabear1 Which reinvention? XD

  • daem the end cuts short

  • To answer your question mapquest68. Paul Northfield was behind the sound board recording. He wanted a fater sound from the snare drum. Brave he asked Neil to tune down his snare. Neil told him, yeah, he told him '' It sounds fine right here !!'' pointing to himself. So that thing is a MIC ! They did not used it but it ended up being a joke in the video.

  • I have been wondering for almost 30 years what that thing is on Neil's chest in this video. This brings back so many memories. I had been listening to them for a year or two but didn't know what they looked like. I saw this video on MTV in early 1982 in a Hastings books and music store in College Station Texas and it brought me to a standstill. I was frozen in place and couldn't move until it was over. I had a grin that wouldn't stop because FINALLY I saw Neil's drum kit. Thank you for posting!!
