The psychology of the situation? The operator of that tank was not there because he was a nice guy. He was selected based on his ability to follow orders. The orders were to murder innocent civilians of China. At no point did his personal desires come into play, and if they did, would only be perceived as hesitation before he did what he was sent thier to do. When groups of PEACEFUL protestors form, and the army is depoloyed, only a moron could fail to see the INTENTION,

It is easier to not care about a faceless crowd but its hard to not care about a single individual. Because we are all individuals thats how we think. Some commentators from other news videos stated that this image might as well started a domino effect that resulted in the fall of the Soviet Union.
