This field is so fun to play at, when I went to Bucky Dents school I was the only Red Sox fan there and the pitcher was wearing Yankees stuff. I almost jacked one out to right center......... 10 feet short, I got a triple out of it though.
power hitters are the last to be taken into the majors by most smart teams like the angels or the twins... they take people who will get hits, steal bases, and do great in the outfield... and the other kinds of teams get 3 or 4 power hitters and the rest good hitters like the phillies and yankees... then there are the big power teams like the white sox and the rangers... they stack their teams up with 20/30/40 homerun hitters and have like a .240 team batting average and miss playoffs
you don't make contact like that and consistently like he is in this BP session with an off balance swing. he's got a power hitter's swing. looks good to me.
we played sunrise last year in april. our pitcher walked him 3 time not on purpose. our coach got pissed and told our pitcher to pitch to him and he did. in conclusion our pitcher jammed him bad and it still went over the right field wall! maybe there was a reason why our pitcher didnt want to... lol
Hitting .341 with 1.047 OPS, 49 walks and 25 strike outs through 40 games in short season rookie ball. Ridiculously good numbers, even for R ball. If you can't look at that swing and see how superior a player he is you aren't qualified to discuss his abilities. Those claiming the metal bat angle: he hits with both wood and metal in this video: same results. Have any of you hit a baseball before? Regardless of the material of the bat, look at the speed generated. Then go eff yourselves.
He unloads his hips and shoulders so quickly. He stayed closed for a long time then he is very quick in his hips. He is able create a lot of touque by unloading so fast.
Hey idiot, he uses a wood bat in the first round of the video you just watched before posting this. At this point you have to admit you are a douchebag.
Jaff Decker is one of the greatest people and athletes in the world. He's going to have a great career with the Padres, I guarantee we'll see him in the bigs. He's playing center and right field in rookie ball right now, but he can play first base and he is also a plus pitcher, but due to size he won't get much of a chance on the hill. I've worked out with him many times and he and his father kent are two of the best baseball men in Arizona. Congrats and Good Luck Jaff!
yepppp =]]] JAFF KYLE DECKER BABYYYY !!! he da bomb.. and yeppp ! i know himmmm ! he is ma BESTFRIEND: COURTNEY NICOLE DECKER'S... big bro' .. and 2 of my sisters' know him cause they went to the same highschool as him.. yeppp... SUNRISE MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL!!
Thanks for the cutting news...Baseball America let us in on the secret a few months ago...he actually committed to UCLA, backed out and went with ASU...Doesn't matter though, I'm sure he sign for six figures after the draft.
Congratulations! You go to school with Jaff, you and a couple other thousand kids. And yes we all know he's committed to ASU, no one has ever disputed that...???...get it!
haha talk about Mr.Know it all baseball hear.Jaff was on my football team his jounior year, he played quaterback, but didn't play his senior year because he liked his chances at baseball, and he is in a couple of my classes so i talk to kid, so he tells me all the news, he did workout for a couple of pro teams this fall.
Have you proposed to Jaff yet? I'm sure he rolls his eyes every time you come within 10 feet of him. Be very careful, there are stalking laws in the U.S.
Lets just put it this way we have played 7 games so far this season, He has 6 HR! Thats almost one every game. Also he hits the ball so hard that he goes through 2 or 3 Exo's because they become so dented. Lol
OK hands down hes is the shit.... he has scouts lookin at him and u can tell just by his swing that he will take it both ways... i mean its a home run durby whos gonna go oppo?.... well i play at Kellis were not known yet but we on our way this year... 1-0 on the season we juss beat cactus shadows but besides that jaff decker is the real deal
a guy named mike moustakus hit 24 home runs in california and went was an 1st all american 3 years in a row. Wonder if he was in this home run derby...
lol yeah he hit 3 home runs in one game against us. He hit a bomb off the roof of a 2nd story aparatment it was like 450-500 feet. It was like CRACK and I was like holy shit....
uh dominguez hit a blast ''oppo'' and their other guy who got drafted bobby coyle hit 2 home runs pulled it and hit another one dead center. Let's just say the score wasn't pretty...
"tranzitms" congrats on the biggest HATER award. Come to az and watch the kid hit, watch the kid pitch, even watch him field. This video is a home run derby retard, hes gunna pull all the balls. Cage monkey? Please dude, obviously he was worth you looking up on you tube. Have thirty scouts come out to just watch you do batting practice, and then maybe you can talk.. O and johnny what a wasted commment, i played with rudy, hes a outstanding pitcher, but it isnt nothing to strike out.
Jaff does rake the ball, i play with him on Sunrise Mtn. HS team. Whoever said that he only pulls it down the line, why dont you come watch him. He always hits them in the Gaps or to dead center. And Tranzitms i would like to see that just to see how Far he hits it. Lol we practice both those pitches, he'll take you deep opposite field or down the line when u throw him in or out. Take it from a person who watches him take it deep everyday. He's the real deal
These are the dimensions of Fenway. This field is the location of the Bucky Dent Baseball School. They built "little Fenway" in honor of Bucky's dramatic home run in '78 against the Sox at Fenway. Right field isn't exactly like Fenway but the wall is the same height and distance as the real Fenway.
Cool...another naysayer...Pay attention when you watch the video...it helps when forming an opinion...That's what they use for the first round during the Power Showcase, second round is metal, ahhhhh, because that's what they use in HS, and guess what, for this showcase he was a junior in HS...During the championship round they can use metal or wood. Guys this event is in the same spirit as the MLB HR Derby, it's a fun event, showcasing one tool, power. Where's your hr video with wood?
Also do NOT look at this guys swing to try and learn from it. Id tail him down and away and bust him up and in and own him all day long. Hes got a long swing. His head is flying out. If hes not hitting over 600 in 30+ games and jacking 14+ bombs in AZ and has a cannon noones going to give a rats ass about this guy. He may get drafted but who cares 1700 people a year get drafted just in the regular draft. Show me how he hits a good duce.
For the last time everyone, put down the Haterade! Jaff Decker is one of the highest rated HS players in the nation according to Baseball America. They get all the reports from MLB scouts, crosscheckers, and SD's, not to mention every top D1 program in the country. He committed to ASU then switched to UCLA. These are two of the top programs around. He also throws 90+ from the bump. Please explain to me how you know more than MLB scouts and D1 coaches. This Showcase features one tool, Power!
Jaff also is a member of the USA junior national team. I'm sure they picked him because he can only hit bp fb's down the middle, and I'm sure all the D1 teams recruiting him just show up to BP to watch him hit, and then leave before the game starts, and I'm sure they probably haven't gone to at least half a dozen games...My God, tranzitms, could you come across any more ignorant!?!? Please do your homework and more importantly LEARN the GAME and how to objectively evaluate it...Jealous, huh?
One more thing, 1700 guys a year getting drafted is not alot...You make it sound like it's so easy and anyone can get drafted. 1700 is a relative number. It would be alot if it was from a pool of say 5000 people, but guess what genius? they're are thousands upon thousands of players eligible in HS and college and internationally to be draft. And it's the only amateur draft. What are you talking about "just in the regular draft". Man , do you sound and look dumb in your posts. Sorry everyone...
What an incredibly stupid comment...I played D1 for former Olympic Coach Ray Tanner, and you have no concept what you're even talking about. Judging a player from a home run derby is flat out idiotic, and nobody who knows a thing about the game would actually form an opinion based on that. He's being grooved pitches he can sit on and he's just trying to turn on it as powerfully as possible...that's not because it's ALL he can do, but because it's what this competition is designed for. Wise up!
He hits a "good duce" 500 feet. I should know, he did it to me. He is by far the best hitter i've seen. And don't say SH!T about people not giving a rats ass, he's one of the nicest people that I've ever met. You're probably just jealous cuz you're a little cocksucker compared to him. I guarantee if you pitched against him ten at bats, you might get him out twice. Maybe. Probably not even once. He went 42 overall, and you can bet your sweet ass you didnt go anywhere near that high and never will
He cant seem to hit anything but down the line . And this is a pitching machine tossing cock shots who cares... hes a cage monkey, Where is this? It looks like the same cut over and over and over again. 340ft shots off of a pitching machine. YAY!!! And for the guy who said his friend struck him out.. WHO CARES. everyone strikes out moron.
In the state semifinals he took a 80 mile an hour fastball 400 feet into the left field bullpen. And since you probably didn't know this sh!t for brains, thats oppo. Dumbfuck.
Good for Rudy, he'll have a story for his kids one day...As far as Jaff being overrated, ah, I'm going to defer to the judgment of the hundreds of scouts and college coaches who have observed, graded, and pursued him over the last two years. He's highly regarded by everybody...and FYI, I struck out Mike Lowell swinging in college, and he's gone on to have a pretty nice big league making millions...Is he overrated???
