Thank you for this video. I love Tibetan rituals and monasteries. There is a good documentary on youtube that showcases Gaden Monastery, currently relocated to Mundgod, India - Tsem Tulku Rinpoche Goes Home!! (1). Nice to have a glimpse of Tibetan monastic lives through the video.
I've done much study of Buddhism & Buddhist thought focusing on Zen & Tibetan Buddhism. I saw Tibetan monks constructing a sand mandala in 2001 & was privileged to speak w / many of the monks. Many of my fellow Christians aren't as tolerant of other religions or modes of thought, I'm sorry to say. Living in a " Red State " in the U.S. doesn't help.
The wheels contain prayers and spinning the wheels sends the prayers out. Tibetans do no pray for themselves but for all sentient beings... and spinning the wheel sends the prayers out and much like a Christian rosary, the beads do count prayers.
Buddhism doesn't teach about god..so who created the universe and mankind and all life in the world so why do people worship him like a god, Buddhism is good for nothing more than meditation, incense industry and some good moral lessons.
@TibetanPhotoProject Yes, but buddhism is not the only religion that teach so, for example islam does this as well, U can not call urself a muslim unless u respect the Christians, Jews as well, as well as the prophets. Since im a muslim myself.
Wonder why i am here?, buddhism also helps me, mankind helps me:)
Intranet, your view in misinformed and Western in its misunderstanding. Even the Dalai Lama regularly tells Western audiences he is a simple monk, nothing more and nothing less. The idea that he is viewed as a living god is purely a Western misperception.
You're mistaken. But don't worry, many people make that mistake. The Dalai Lama is not a god, or a 'Living Buddha,' as the Chinese translation calls him.
He is the 14th reincarnation of the previous Dalai Lamas, the first of which was an incarnation of the Buddha of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara (Chenresi).
@Intranetusa that's a profoundly misinformed comment, and it obviously comes from a place of little to no knowledge about which you speak. When Tibetans say that the Dalai Lama is a "god king", they're not saying that he is the representation of a creator, or anything - the word "deity" in Tibetan has a vastly different connotation than its English equivalent. For them, he is a living Buddha - and tha state can be attained by anyone. There is zero correlation between Mormonism and this Buddhism.
@Intranetusa Tibetan Buddhism is comprised of different schools that each recognizes a person with an equivalent function with that of Dalai Lama (i.e. Karmapa for Kagyu or Padmasambhava for Nyingma). The Dalai Lama is seen as a monk, a human leader and, by some, as an emanation of Avalokitesvara - the compassionate aspect of the enlightened mind; but not as a god. The Mormon religion does not offer a path to awakening and therefore cannot be compared with Buddhism.
Who created the Universe isn't important. No matter how much people fight about it, no-one will ever come close to proving his view. Buddhism teaches us to focus all our mindfulness on the present moment, and not to worry about useless questions, like who created the Universe.
@fuuunnnn .True,If God created mankind and the universe, then what created 'God' and then what created that something that created 'God' ?So you see that queation never ends. That is why Buddhists believe that question is irrelevent and that is why we never argue or fight over the question of God.All you need is to be good and heaven is for everyone.God is not selfish and reserve heaven for some people
@fuuunnnn Buddism does not teach about god, simply because he does not exist, there is no creator and nor creature, Buddah was only a man, and the meditation is useful to understand all these things, buddism is not based on faith or a revelated true in a book, meditation makes you discover all these thiongs by your self instead of believe them....
The essence of peace of mind lies within us all. Just watching this video inspires clarity of mind, and peace at heart. No matter what religion you belong we can all be peacefull Buddha's and work for the benefit of others, not just the self.
I have seen this video a few times already, and I literally am watching it again right now because of its ability to make me feel calm and peaceful. I especially like the music - it perfectly fits the images. Where is the music from? Do you know who recorded it?

What do you think? Seen some stereograms on youtube think I will ask. By the way fIVE STARS LOVE THE FILM.
When in Nepal 10-12years ago I meet some Tibetans Monk refugees and spook with them Most of the afternoon. At the time stereograms where all the rage, I showed my book to them. they told me, there Monks are trained to see these in prayer pictures which were thousand years old. they are truely amasing people. I give them the book to help them to rise a bit of cash which it did. magic eye was new at the time. see!
They are certainly useful to the Tibetans. Tibetan Buddhism is very complicated and I am a simple observer and that is why we did not even begin to try and explain it.
I just returned from a trip to India--and I will never forget the week I spent in McLeod Ganj exploring Namgyal Monastery and speaking with the monks there (as well as the nuns from Geden Cheoling, Shugseb and Dolma Ling).
