  • Oh, Tibet. It is such a great place. Spiritual and beautiful

  • @Jasmin96961 you are aware this footage is of Tibetans living in exile in India? Tibet under Chinese rule is not such a free and wonderful place that it could be.

  • @Jasmin96961 .. Just FYI these are the Tibetans living in exile in India in this clip

  • I've been smiling so wide this entire time, but the minute he said "I want to be a good monk" I actually started crying. Please tell me; have you seen any bad things occur at the monasteries?

  • @MrPuffaluffagus

We are not aware of any bad activities except inside occupied Tibet where monks and nuns are often arrested and tortured.

  • @TibetanPhotoProject I've wanted to be a monk in Tibet for a long long time, and I just wanted to know why people accuse the monks of lying and other such things....I figured it wasn't true, and I just wanted to check

    Thank you for replying :D

  • @MrPuffaluffagus You are absolutely rigth, i felt the same way. Greetings and Namaste.

  • SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! Thank you fir sharing! The music is wonderful, who plays it? Cindy

  • @lapielcanela

That would be me playing the guitar.... Joe Mickey

  • Livestrong!

  • Great!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • me in a future life

    love the vid : )

    thank you

  • Emaho ! at 1:21 We can see Tenzin Zopa with Geshe Lama Konchog ! For everyone of you i recomend to watch a film "Unmistaken Child" Blessings for Tuluku and for all of you !

  • @likeadream777 Excellent! Excellent indeed!

  • Thank you for this video

  • Thank you very much for this video. It will be refuge to re-watch it once back home. Thanks. May all being be happy and free from suffering. Tashi Delek

  • Yes. It is great to have World PEACE. We all humans living together as one.

  • This is my next life

  • Wow. Peace on Earth. Who knew?

  • May all beings have happiness and be free from suffering.

  • Thank you for this video. I love Tibetan rituals and monasteries. There is a good documentary on youtube that showcases Gaden Monastery, currently relocated to Mundgod, India - Tsem Tulku Rinpoche Goes Home!! (1). Nice to have a glimpse of Tibetan monastic lives through the video.

  • Yes. This video is great !!

I've done much study of Buddhism & Buddhist thought focusing on Zen & Tibetan Buddhism. I saw Tibetan monks constructing a sand mandala in 2001 & was privileged to speak w / many of the monks. Many of my fellow Christians aren't as tolerant of other religions or modes of thought, I'm sorry to say. Living in a " Red State " in the U.S. doesn't help.

  • Thank you The Tibetan Photo Project. love all your work. keep up you with your good work or Karma..

  • why do they spin the wheels in the beginning? Are the malas to count the mantras?

  • The wheels contain prayers and spinning the wheels sends the prayers out. Tibetans do no pray for themselves but for all sentient beings... and spinning the wheel sends the prayers out and much like a Christian rosary, the beads do count prayers.

  • This is very Interesting

  • who ever playing guitar. i love u.

  • ☆LoVe & LiGhT☆

  • ☆LoVe & LiGhT☆

  • Buddhism doesn't teach about god..so who created the universe and mankind and all life in the world so why do people worship him like a god, Buddhism is good for nothing more than meditation, incense industry and some good moral lessons.

  • Fun, And that is not a bad start. From what we understand there are techniques that can be applied to all religious practices

  • We are all Buddha - I am Buddha as are you - if we have pure compassionate thoughts with love and caring as our intention then we are all Buddha!

  • Funn, we happen to be photographers, but from what we understand, buddhism also teaches people to respect religions other than their own.

  • @TibetanPhotoProject Yes, but buddhism is not the only religion that teach so, for example islam does this as well, U can not call urself a muslim unless u respect the Christians, Jews as well, as well as the prophets. Since im a muslim myself.

Wonder why i am here?, buddhism also helps me, mankind helps me:)

  • Buddhism doesn't teach about god, but Tibetan Buddhism portrays the line of Dali Lamas as a living god.

So Tibetan Buddhism is the Buddhist equivalent of a Mormon spinoff

  • Intranet, your view in misinformed and Western in its misunderstanding. Even the Dalai Lama regularly tells Western audiences he is a simple monk, nothing more and nothing less. The idea that he is viewed as a living god is purely a Western misperception.

  • You're mistaken. But don't worry, many people make that mistake. The Dalai Lama is not a god, or a 'Living Buddha,' as the Chinese translation calls him.

He is the 14th reincarnation of the previous Dalai Lamas, the first of which was an incarnation of the Buddha of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara (Chenresi).

  • @Intranetusa that's a profoundly misinformed comment, and it obviously comes from a place of little to no knowledge about which you speak. When Tibetans say that the Dalai Lama is a "god king", they're not saying that he is the representation of a creator, or anything - the word "deity" in Tibetan has a vastly different connotation than its English equivalent. For them, he is a living Buddha - and tha state can be attained by anyone. There is zero correlation between Mormonism and this Buddhism.

  • @Intranetusa How can something that has existed way before Mormonism be a spin of from it ??

    Meditate on it ;)

  • @Intranetusa TibetanPhotoProject is right, The dalai lama is like a spiritual leader like a guru. Not a god, he is just a monk a human being.

  • @Intranetusa Tibetan Buddhism is comprised of different schools that each recognizes a person with an equivalent function with that of Dalai Lama (i.e. Karmapa for Kagyu or Padmasambhava for Nyingma). The Dalai Lama is seen as a monk, a human leader and, by some, as an emanation of Avalokitesvara - the compassionate aspect of the enlightened mind; but not as a god. The Mormon religion does not offer a path to awakening and therefore cannot be compared with Buddhism.

  • @Intranetusa incomplete knowledge can be a dangerous thing, especially when you're unaware of the extent of your ignorance.

  • Who created the Universe isn't important. No matter how much people fight about it, no-one will ever come close to proving his view. Buddhism teaches us to focus all our mindfulness on the present moment, and not to worry about useless questions, like who created the Universe.

  • @fuuunnnn .True,If God created mankind and the universe, then what created 'God' and then what created that something that created 'God' ?So you see that queation never ends. That is why Buddhists believe that question is irrelevent and that is why we never argue or fight over the question of God.All you need is to be good and heaven is for everyone.God is not selfish and reserve heaven for some people

  • @fuuunnnn Buddism does not teach about god, simply because he does not exist, there is no creator and nor creature, Buddah was only a man, and the meditation is useful to understand all these things, buddism is not based on faith or a revelated true in a book, meditation makes you discover all these thiongs by your self instead of believe them....

  • @fuuunnnn then use it for that purpose. you will still benefit.

  • I love it, it really touches my senses... Thanks for uploading this video..

  • The essence of peace of mind lies within us all. Just watching this video inspires clarity of mind, and peace at heart. No matter what religion you belong we can all be peacefull Buddha's and work for the benefit of others, not just the self.

  • Love This. Free Tibet !

  • I have seen this video a few times already, and I literally am watching it again right now because of its ability to make me feel calm and peaceful. I especially like the music - it perfectly fits the images. Where is the music from? Do you know who recorded it?

  • Jkekl, thanks for the comment. We are a begging bowl production. So that would be me playing the guitar. I am glad you liked it. Please pass it along. Visually and Respectfully, Joe Mickey

  • I am a Buddhist, and it is honestly the best there is. it is hard to describe actually....

  • The boy at 2:25 is strikingly gorgeous!

  • Thanks to everyone for their comments on The Tibetan Photo Project.

  • Buddhism is the most compassionated religion. I am feeling so peaceful when I watch this video. I feel like the life in this video is very peaceful and joyful!

  • Such beautifull filming of everyday life for some Tibetans. This is an important project.

  • Freedom for the people

  • Thank you so much for this initiative :) I am going to commit the rest of my life to spread the message of peace. I think the time has come for all of us to get together and work towards that goal !!!!!!!! Om Mane Padmehyum :)

  • Thank you... please pass the video forward

  • On my visit to my country India, I had a chance to spend some fantastic moments in Ladakh. They were the best days of my life. Walking along the mountains, visiting the Buddhist Monasteries was one of the greatest experiences. They have taught me how to live life. I think it is now our responsibility to spread the world about peace. We're currently engulfed in violence, wars and natural calamities. Show people beautiful things. Photography is one way to capture what is left.

  • bala215, Thank you for your comment. We feel that photography is the best way for people to speak to each other and to speak to power. This is the voice we are working to grow. tibetanphotoproject dot com for details

  • If, in the end, we cannot stop the evil, and if that evil consumes the world. Let us take the memories of these times - these great spiritual and cultural traditions - out into the cosmos with us, so that one day they may return.

  • GrapefruityTikbit, thanks for your gentle comments. The Tibetan Photo Project

For now, please share this with friends

  • Buddhism is one of the most beautiful and profound spiritual traditions of the world. Atisha's Buddhism is one of Buddhism's most beautiful manifestations. We will all have to live like monks soon. Austerely and peacefully, and with respect for strangers in all nationalities. I pray for Burma as well.

  • I LOVE THIS.

  • mamigordita, thank you for your kind comments please tell your friends, this a clip from our film, Visually and Respectfully Yours - The Story of The Tibetan Photo Project. Regards, Joe and Saz at tibetanphotoproject dot com

  • This is beautiful! The images are wonderful and peaceful. It has inspired me to go visit Tibet. Thanks for posting it!

  • CroDigTap, we hope you do. However, this footage is about Tibet in exile in India. Travel responsibly and know where your money goes.

  • I didn't realize that it was about Tibetans in exile. I try to do research about a place before I go, so I agree that one needs to know where one's money is going.

  • Thanks and travel well

  • bodhimian, thank you for your comment and please share with friends. Visually and Respectfully.

  • I would love to say, that as a practicing jain, there is nothing i want more than peace in this world. The video that you have made has truely inspired me to continue my beliefs of peace through jainism.

jainism was a religion that came before buddhism and had the same ideology as buddhism but a little more strict, no but awesome job!!

  • bungbond123 ,

Thank you for your comment. Please tell friends.

  • D~Lama was definitely the "Moses" of our times...yet the democracy of a hypocritic country ignored the very act which represented them... the freedome of religion, worship, and life. What a sad state that what represents true democracy.

  • We can only speak for our own efforts. Governments are usually not the people... I would say the same for China.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Thank you... we hope you will tell friends and visit the Website at tibetanphotoproject dot com

  • WoW Thats very good

  • AyJay92, thanks for the comment. We hope you will pass the video along to friends.

  • On writing my last comments. Had a thought! come up with an idea of a poster, how about stereo-gram of a buddha and "FREE Tibet" and expletion into 3nd eye. might rise more awareness. Wonder! who could make one. MMMmmm

What do you think? Seen some stereograms on youtube think I will ask. By the way fIVE STARS LOVE THE FILM.

  • When in Nepal 10-12years ago I meet some Tibetans Monk refugees and spook with them Most of the afternoon. At the time stereograms where all the rage, I showed my book to them. they told me, there Monks are trained to see these in prayer pictures which were thousand years old. they are truely amasing people. I give them the book to help them to rise a bit of cash which it did. magic eye was new at the time. see!

  • Thanks for the comment. Please tell friends... Visually and Respectfully, The Tibetan Photo Project

  • thank you for response.

    playlisted this brilliant film !

  • Thanks to you and for letting people know about it.

  • What is the type of meditation at 3:50? Whats the purpose? Are Tibetan rituals useful or just tradition? Thank you

  • vivamexcabrones

They are certainly useful to the Tibetans. Tibetan Buddhism is very complicated and I am a simple observer and that is why we did not even begin to try and explain it.

  • vivamexcabrones,

Those are prostrations. A sort of daily prayers ans showing of respect, the Western equivalent might be genuflecting.

  • Namaste!

That is the best commercial for any religion that I've ever seen.

    OM MANI PEME HUNG

  • Shantihank, thank you for your comment... maybe?

  • very good- thank you..

  • Msionov... thank you for your comment.... please tell friends

  • I just returned from a trip to India--and I will never forget the week I spent in McLeod Ganj exploring Namgyal Monastery and speaking with the monks there (as well as the nuns from Geden Cheoling, Shugseb and Dolma Ling). Truly remarkable and strong people. Watching everyday people pray with such devotion and respect is refreshing and inspiring.

Thanks for sharing this on You Tube.

  • OM MANI PEME HUNG. Thanks

  • Thank you for your comment... Visually and respectfully

  • So good to see the daily prayers, prostrations and circumambulations of ordinary people practising their faith. A beautiful 'snapshot' of life in the Tibetan community, and the Tsug Lhakang. Thank you!

  • Many Thanx !!

    Tashi Delek !!

  • The video is beautiful but I don't like the music because is very sad.

The monk in the 02:24 looks so adorable =D

  • AliceNekoAlenky, The music is sad, as is much of the struggle to preserve Tibet's culture in exile.

  • Thank You

  • The spinning things are prayer wheels. Prayers are placed inside and by spinning the wheel it is believed you are sending the prayer into the universe. Tibetans do not pray for themselves or individual needs but for the larger issues like peace in the world etc.

  • Beautiful ... many thanks!

  • In ancient Tibet many were unable to read ( the Chinese occupation also does not allow Tibetans to school in their own language.) and today visitors are usually not schooled in Tibetan language so the prayer wheels allow those who cannot read the prayers to also send them out.

Thanks... Joe and Saz, founders of The Tibetan Photo Project
