Fantastic work! Once I get more time I'm going to solder my connections but this worked perfectly. My Fightstick SE is now dual modded (with Toodles ChimpSMD). All the wiring worked perfectly on the 1st try!
Hey, very nice work! I have the TE round 2 and i'm very beginner in Stick modding! i try to understand from number of sites but i'm quite confused lol
I just would like to know if there is a need to connect juste one wire (the signal) by button to the chimp (because the TE is common ground as they say) or the signal + the ground, i can't get it lol and if so, how can we make it ? should i use the top row's component to wire the ground of each buttons(thx to the solderless trick) to thechimp?
Wow so simple... I wish I had seen this video or thought of it myself before I put in new buttons and rewired my Pelican Universal. Thanks for posting:)
So far on my first attempt with the new JLF its still not working with the madcats harness....So I can just expose more wire (JLF harness) and sorta do this to the other end connecting to the 5 pins on the board putting the plastic connector on top??? Or do you have to solder?
I havent tried wiring the JLF harness to the board yet(JLF is on its way) after the Madcatz quality harness was quadruple glued down and had to pry it off. This vid makes me alot more comfy if I still cant use the stock MC harness...Thanks!!!
I destroyed my wiring harness that comes with the stick (long story). Is the wiring harness that comes with the JLF stranded? I was thinking maybe I can use this solderless trick to use the JLF harness.
Yup! I got my parts yesterday and was able to use the JLF harness using the tips in this vid! Thanks so much I was ready to buy another SE. Good job on the vids. SRK rules
Since you have shown examples of the non-soldering methods in this video, when you do the rest of the actual mods on your stick, would you please show us the soldering methods?
No, this is just an example of doing these solderless tricks. In this example with the ribbon cable he added an EXTRA button to the mix. You wouldn't really want to do that, most likely.
If you're just swapping out the buttons, you're fine.
Donovan is correct. If you're just swapping buttons, you can ignore this video. You will only be interested in this video if you plan on adding a second PCB to your joystick for dual system support.
This video is mainly for those interested in doing the dual system mod. The dual system mod requires you to connect buttons from one circuit board to the other. For example, you need to connect the Start button from one PCB to the Start button of the other PCB. Then a final connection is made to the Start button itself.
Usually you would solder to the PCB to create this connection. Using the solderless trick, you eliminate the soldering.
I was debating whether to record the entire thing or just sections of it. It really would become a really long video with possibly 10-15 parts. I take my time doing mods cause I'm just a neat freak.

Would you mind putting in the video description a text summary of the points made in this video?

For the ribbon connector mod, will 30 gauge wire suffice, or would it be too small?
