st.louis isn't that dangerous of a city. the numbers were blown up because they only found the crime for north side st.louis. really if you take into count for south side then crime numbers are greatly reduced. It's even better in the suburbs
No city museum pictures? If you're going to be visiting our home in the near future, you gotta check out the City Museum. I don't care what people say about my town, I love STL.
Good video, great job! Negative comments and stats on St. Louis are because of the disadvantage of the city limits being a small island around which are beautiful neighborhoods that other cities have in there statistical basis. e.g. Jacksonville Fla is like 450 square miles while St. Louis in about 70 square miles in the oldest part of the metro area. If you took the oldest 70 square miles of any large city, the stats would reflect more poorly on that city.

So does Boston?? Have you been there? There aren't any parts of the city where you'd feel unsafe roaming around, no destroyed homes standing like there are EVERYWHERE in St Louis. All the natives who defend shitholes with such atrocious reputations ought to realize how goddamned bad their ghetto holes really are. Quit attacking the Braille messenger alerting the blind.
2) Get the fuck out of this shithole. There are zoos, botanical gardens and Budweiser beer plenty of other places. This all-American failure story has lost 2/3 of it's population since the '50s and is down to its post-Civil War pop. The people remaining aren't exactly the cream of the crop.
I always loved to see the Arch from I-64 when I was coming into St. Louis from one of my many overnight trips from Jacksonville, Florida to see a special lady friend of mine!
Bred, born, and raised in St. Louis. Despite the media portraying it as "dangerous"...I can't imagine anywhere else in the country that I'd love to call -home-. I've been all over that city. From the South Side to The Loop to North St. louis and the suburbs. Never had a problem. It has it's flaws...but so does New York, boston, Chicago, L.A., Dallas, etc...etc.. Any large city will have bad areas. Just ogtta know where to go and not go in any place.
Thanks for sharing all this, Creve Coeur Mo is my Hometown. I lived in the city for 3 years & I was a victim of crime 11 times and shot at once. The police told me my neighborhood is no place for "white boys", Kingshiway & Lindell. Taxpayers paid for a beautiful new baseball stadium, meanwhile students do without teachers & books. The number of cops on the streets is 4X what it was when I started to drive, the budget deficits have escalated & crime keeps getting worse.
People rely far too much on statistics. "ranked #1 in crime" is complete crap. Seriously, anyone that has lived here, and has a functioning brain can tell you that yes, St. Louis has it's flaws. We have buildings that should be torn down, and our far share of crime. But, It's also one of the prettiest and fun places I've ever been. I refuse to believe that the one place I spend an insane amount of time and grew up in is something as horrible as so many people make it. Quit being so negative.
i personally absolutely despise st. louis. everything is run down and their are all of those ghetto people everywhere you do. the city lacks diversity, and to me, it has a small midwestern town atmosphere with much, much more crime. I moved out of STL and relocated to Austin, TX. I really like it here!
However, I would like for you to try and convince me how a city that's ranked #1 in crime and pretty much only consists of shootings is considered the "best city in america." there's, of course, the delmar loop, which is pretty cool. Nelly does a great job describing what it's like to live in st. louis in his lyrics. you should listen or read the lyrics sometime!
Most glamorous cities have a facade. You get there, and can't seem to find what all the whoopla is about. Don't get me wrong...nice cities, but most have good things to offer. St. Louis has an air of sophistication many can't see, and perhaps that's just as well. Lot's of culture here. Great wealth seen in architecture, grand old homes (some actually palaces) of CWE, Lafayette Square, etc. No put on's...it is what it is, and if one fails to see the beauty...well...what can I say.
To some of us in this world we have a sense of community. For me and I would guess others posting here the community is St Louis. For all the good or bad life deals me I will always be a St Louisan. Perhaps when other relationships fail us in life there is always comfort in that.
I luv St. Louis with all my heart, and sorry MsDiamondintherough I meant to click thumbs up but actually clicked the wrong button... But stand up St. Louis!!!!
When i went to college in St. Louis, I was amazed that locals I met never called their town names or referred to it as a "dump".
I live near Minneapolis and constantly hear how dumpy and trashy it is from "locals"! St. Louis is an old city, but one with grand people who take pride in their city's glory.
If you come to STL by car, make sure you have insurance. STL is the car break-in capitol of the country. You aren't a true St. Louis City dweller if your car hasn't been broken into at least twice. Fuckin' hoods, need to get off their thievin' asses and get a J O B!
alright you racist bastard stop spamming websites, also the more one sweats while eating bbq pork skins and eating spicy hot wings, the quicker they go to the porcelain throne, and satisfy themselves, hahaha you ain't no warrior you obese inbred redneck.
It depends on your interests, socio-economic status and ethnicity (sadly). These will all factor into where you will be happiest and feel most at home in STL. My favorite neighborhood is the Central West End-magnificent homes. My friend's here in NY marvel. I grew up in Ladue, but it isn't for the faint of heart and I wouldn't recommend it, even if you could afford it. Clayton is more progressive and offers more. Anywhere near Forest park or Tower Grove , esp if you love grass court tennis
I moved here just over a year ago (prior to that i was in lousy anna!)..the thing is I am an Ex Pat Brit!!, I love St louis, my wife is an RN at one of the city hospitals here. I love the whole 'civilised; aspect of St louis..regards Steve
If you dont want to live in the city though and would rather live in suburbia Arnold, Fenton, Valley Park, Chesterfield, Or any other city on the Missouri side. Close to downtown but only a few minutes away from all the action
Yeah I went to high school in Arnold. Great schools there and a great place to live. I am from the South Side in Dutchtown but the area was not that great and is only getting worse. I now live in South County and it is a good mix. I live only 15 mins from downtown.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Number one for niggers, hoosiers, and violent crime. Theee biggest shit-hole in the midwest, maybe the usa. Place sucks, it's sidewalks roll up after 5pm and go downtown anytime and the pigeons out number the people. Place reeks to.
@itsmemeDDP Funny, you sound like an ignorant redneck.
You're an idiot. Please go back to school because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. You're a hypocrite by using the "n" word because you're obviously a hillbilly, or the stereotype of one. Thank god if you were here, you're gone because I'll be happy to kick you on your uneducated ass on the way out.
@itsmemeDDP Oh, you're from Chicago, and therefore a Cubs fan because there would be no other reason to bash St. Louis other than someone who hasn't seen a WS win in 102 years. How are those World Series poles doing out at Wrigley?
we may get a bad rep for the violent parts of our city, however, that cant deter the beauty and magnificence of my historic city :)
