I am sorry but that is NOT a ten. The horse does not lower his croup and is covering ground as it is not on the spot. Not to mention he is not working over his back. More like a 6 because it is moving forward!!!
Havlin - If you can do a better piaffe on a horse then lets see it. Yes thats worth a ten. The horse does not have to be "On the sport" exactly. It can move forward to keep the conection. And shes a mare, she has an extremely long back, which means lower her croup isnt as possible.
The horse is not strong enough in the piaffe as she loses balance with the constant straining up and down of her neck. When she gets stronger she will sit more and do the piaffe on the spot with ease. The length of the back is completely irrelevant as I have had two GP horses with backs way longer than hers. How many horses have you trained to GP and shown at that level Jack. I have recieved multiple "9's" on piaffe before have you?
Considering im 14 i have trained no piaffes. And the confimation has everything to do with how she sits. Obviously you dont understand that this horse was only 9 years old in the video.. I doubt very much that you could do better.
And - the horse' weight is not on the hindquarters, which is the whole point, right..?

But this horse is not connected. I have seen a horse with a very long back perform piaffe with lowering. It can be done if the training is correct.
