I've run into a rough patch with my guitar playing, in fact, i've barely picked up my guitar for months now. I've been finding music in new genres to try and bring myself back to playing. Much thanks to your dad for helping to heal the damage i've done to myself. Absolutely stunning work on a type of instrument I haven't heard much of.
I'd love to imagine being woken up to the strains of this making its' way through the house just echoing and reverberating gently enough as though it were actually in my head. I imagine the background noise of bacon frying in a skillet and the smell permeating, calling me to come downstairs for an amazing breakfast with an amazing family. All day long, that melody would follow me, including itself in my every thought, and just enjoying the perspective of my very small place in this giant world.
I want that guitar so bad! I play stuff like this on my acoustic and it's just not nearly as beautiful sounding. This is really good can't see why your dad wouldn't want it on youtube.
@johnlffy I presume that your saying 'too bad you hate America though'? Do I? That's news to me. Thanks for telling me what I think though - nice one.
Just started playing the acoustic guitar and stumbled across this clip by accident . What can I say - awesome !! I've no idea why anyone would dislike this . Is that a dobro he's playing ? I'm going to make it my ambition to learn to play one like this guy . Wish my dad was as cool as this guy :) There is one spooky thing - I'm sure I recognise this guy ....
KEEP THIS VIDEO MAN. When your dad passes away, you will cherish this with your life! THhs is something you can show to YOUR kids and their kids. Shows your old man was a soulful one!
@pdl1967 for some reason i think that would ruin it, one of the great things is about this is that this man clearly has passion untainted by any other external input.
Nature has a way sometimes of reminding Man of just how small he is. She throws up terrible offspring's of our pride and carelessness to remind us of how puny we really are in the face of a tornado, an earthquake, or a Space Sasquatch. The reckless ambitions of Man are often dwarfed by their dangerous consequences. For now, Space Sasquatch - that strangely innocent and tragic monster - has gone. Whether he returns or is never again seen by human eyes, the things he has taught us remain.
great and fresh, happy that all the jealous grumpy w.....g off watching calender girls people have been spamed and rejected from their unsignificant comments...great moment to share, well done jamie cosmos
To the guy that videoed this:please, show your dad how much attention this has received, and see if he would consider recording some work.I would happily pay €30 for a 6 or 7 track disc.

This was truly wonderful. Let your dad know some anonymous guy on the internet would buy an album based on one listen of that song. Great feeling. Thank you for sharing.
What is awesome is I don't listen to blues music. I've never been ignorant of it, but I've never really been able to connect to it or ENJOY listening to very much of what I've been exposed to. That being said I find myself listening to this song and FEELING it. Love it. LOVE IT!!!!
So refreshing to hear such amazing talent outside of commercialized culture. The fact that he's rocking grey hair show's that its NEVER to late to develop your ability's to create something beautiful, big respect to him.
I take it back, I don't want this to be recorded in a studio. In an era of commercialization and watered down culture that robs passion of substance, it's refreshing to see someone doing something because they love it and nothing more. Cheers.
@coolshoes what do you mean he is clearly american? He is obviously English. Plus, why would his son be living in the same house? what the hell are you on about?
@coolshoes My "Dad" is clearly English, I am english, my "Dad" looked up once to see me holding my phone as if texting, plus he was concentrating on playing, it's fairly still as I don't have Parkinsons disease and I wasn't pissed, the house is different becuase being in my late 30's I don't actually live with my Dad and the 'groundwork' is a feature of your delusional mind. The real story is that you have issues. Merry Christmas!
@juliancosmos Hey Julian, appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Personally, I think it's not good practice on the internet to blindly accept the claims of random strangers. There are no shortage of documented fakes on Reddit. Would you arbitrarily trust me if I told you I was a record executive, or would you be skeptical? I fail to see how that would make either one of us delusional. On the contrary, it likely makes us intelligent or wise.
@juliancosmos your dad is incredible... also you have a f'ing goood phone! I would feel more than content if I were to have purchased this, please at least secretly record him doing some more songs for youtube!
I've gone back and watched the video again, and I CAN hear an English accent when he briefly talks. But I really had to strain to hear it in the word "doing".
It's not easy to hear him over the guitar and the sentence is neutral enough that he may seem "obviously" British/English to folks from the UK, but not so for people from the USA. I can only speak for myself, so it's also possible I have a lousy ear.
Can you please explain to me why it's a bad idea to be skeptical of information posted by strangers on the internet? Is it so unusual to wonder who can hold a phone so steady while pretending to be texting?
I would be happy to be wrong. But what's the harm in being a skeptic and why is it smart to defend the unverified story of a total stranger?
@coolshoes because it's just (sorry) a video of a man playing & singing blues.
And even if he was not english, even if it wasn't film secretly, even he was not juliancosmos' father, what would it change ? just be amazed ! There are so many things else for being skeptical
@coolshoes When the dad speaks, he's clearly got an English accent. Regional differences in accents and dialects, plus the noise the guitar over it may have confused you.
I have seen secretive recordings elsewhere like this before (SGAOJ anyone?) Steady shots are not hard.
He may not live with his father any more, which is easily discerned by looking at the age of the man - his children are probably adults.
Skepticism is OK, but the "facts" you're presenting simply don't make sense.
Yup, I got the accent wrong. The other statements I made were factually accurate.
It would be difficult to be convincing about pretending to be texting while holding a phone totally still and pointed directly at someone. The stealth footage from SGAOJ came from hiding the phone in a coffee cup. Not a fair comparison.
It was in fact a different house. I never considered this could be from a visit home. Julian looks young.
I came here from Reddit, which has lots of fakers.
@coolshoes Scepticism & critical enquiry are vital responses with which to confront the world yes. However reason & perspective are a natural counterpoint to these faculties. If I had a posted a video on claiming to have discovered a way to create cold fusion from water then you may have a point, but this is just a video of my Dad playing some guitar. What diabolical hidden agenda could I be following here? I suggest you channel your energies into something more worthwhile.
Where did I ever claim you had a "diabolical agenda"?
Some people just want to be internet famous, if only for a day. That's the most common motive on Reddit. You had a friend posting your video there, which I'm sure you're aware of.
I hardly think one skeptical comment on your video is indicative of energies that need to be channeled elsewhere. But you could fairly say my comment should have been more moderate in tone.
WOW I came here just a few days ago from reddit and saw this video, favorited, and back then, it had only around 300 views. Now it has almost 200 000 views. The internet rewards those who really deserve it I guess.
If this is the last time I hear your dad play, I'm going to be very upset. Please keep spreading this, and encourage him to share more of his music. He's an amazing musician. I'm sorry to your dad as well...... I've been telling everyone about him.
There's musicians and then there's musicians. One lot cares primarily about their identity and that an audience regards them as an Artist. Others care primarily about music per se, regardless of who or if anyone is listening.
In my opinion, this is what You Tube is really about. Genuine talent. Believe me, i do not say something is great, if it's not, as many do on here. This man is a genuine talent and this song should be recorded.
wow soo deep man.... this is the real talent, when some 1 with a guitar express what he or her thinks about something in a beauty way. i would buy it dude!!! a big hug to your dad, tell him that never is late to make your wishes a reality. :D im from Guatemala
I'd definietly buy his record, people like your dad are the ones who really deserve a record contract. Extremely talented and he has something to say, love it !

Some things not adding up.
The "son" (juliancosmos) is in the UK, but when the "dad" speaks, he is clearly American.
The "dad" looks straight into the camera, which is being held perfectly still and pointed right at him. But he doesn't know he's being recorded?
The house house in the video doesn't look like the house from other juliancosmos posts.
The groundwork has been conveniently laid so that there will be no future videos featuring the "dad".
So what's the real story here?
