hello todd, i was just introduce to your video by a friend and so far it help, thank you. however i was wondering if you have any video or advise for me, my 7 yr old started to get really into tennis and he now playing with 12 and under kids. i never had problem with my elbow until lately when i try to train with him. the pain is right inside the bone at the very tip/corner of the elbow right where it bends. anything would be helpful, thank you sir for your time.
Todd, I've been suffering from Tennis Elbow, I stop physical activity for 2 months. I can't lift weights which is my life. The pain started working in a warehouse (lifting boxes REPETITIVELY. It's almost gone, I can even grab a gallon of milk now, but the process of healing is too slow. I use ice massage and Ibuprofen pill 200mg twice a day. Do you know any exercise or a kind of massage or ANYTHING you could recommend me to speed up the precess of healing? I'd be glad if you help me.
Thanks for the the help .. it did take the soreness away about 20min after applying the ice for about 10/15min.. it dose work i bought some Dixie cups work well for applying...thanks again
I've had this pain for about 2 months after I moved heavy tree branches that we cut down, and got the pain afterwards. Should I stay off of it and use some kind of a brace? If so, what do you recommend? After how long a period of time would a cortisone shot be a good idea?
Thanks for the useful videos and I am going to try the exercises. I have already started some of them. A great tip I worked out myself for icing the elbow is to use an elasticated frozen wine bottle cooler sleeve on the elbow. Left for 20 or so minutes till it thaws works great on the elbow then back into the freezer for later. No mess and no drips.
Here's a handy hint for icing, especially those spots that need it a lot. Freeze water in a styrofoam cup, then just peel off enough to expose for icing. As the ice melts, peel off a bit more. Your fingers holding the ice won't freeze that way.
I just saw your videos & I was wondering my son is 11 yrs. old & he plays baseball & has a cannon for an arm at such a young age. My son played in a tournament last week he is a catcher & outfielder he complained his elbow was hurting after the game & he went to the Dr. had an MRI & X-ray he has inner tendonitis do these stretching & stick excercises work for baseball players the Dr. said he has tennis elbow. Thanks Todd U ROCK!!!!!!!! Mando
my elbow makes crunching sounds when i lift stuff, especially when i do curls( which ive stopped completely!) and it hurts, my doctor told me to leave it coz any sort of treatment or therapy would more than likely aggravate it, just wondering if you know what it could be? thanks.
If the doctor can't tell you, maybe try a new doctor until you find a better one. I get pain when I lift things, and feel like I am about to drop them, and the doctor says it's tennis elbow.
Try an osteopath, they will be careful, and maybe the bones are just misaligned. Or a physiotherapist, and try not to lift too much, or overexercise it.
if it hurts on the outside it's tennis elbow (lateral epicodilitys) inside it's golfers elbow (medial) I am a fellow weight lifter with the same problem man in both arms...It's breaking me right down... you got to take off man just like me...
@Poohead0990 nope not healed. i started lifting again so i have my good days and my bad days. i make sure i hit the sauna and stretch it out everyday. i also bought icyhot and use that on there. not much you can do.
@smokesar fuck! a year later and your still not healed? ive been 2 months and every time it feels good again, i go to the gym and try to go lightly it flares up 2 days later!! How many months did it take till you could lift weights again?
@Poohead0990 the key is stretching before and after. and during course of day if you can. i had thumb surgery so i was sidelined about 6 months therefore my elbow didnt see much action.
@ToddScott21 whats the difference between tennis elbow and golfers elbow? and how do we know which one we got, coz i have pain in my arm (around the elbow) whenever i try to pick up something heavy.
if the pain is on the inside of the elbow then thats actually golfers elbow.
and icing should be done for around 10 minutes or untill the area is completely numb.
it should be done after playing, because tennis elbow brings inflamation of the tendon, so the ice therapy helps reduce inflamation and reduces the pain after playing.
just watched your video and i intend to try your theory for tennis elbow tonight...thanks

There are some very good tips on coping with tennis elbow, but it will probably take 2 weeks or more to go away whatever the methods you use.

Thought direct skin contact to ice was bad :S but perhaps as you're moving it, its okay? i would just use a thin cloth aswell just in case people

thanks for the comments, few things I'll add: 1) the video is for tennis elbow, not golfers elbow.
2) Tennis elbow isn't limited to tennis players or golfers.
3) Ice should be applied throughout the day, not just after a workout or tennis match.
