The magazines do not drop because of the magazine disconnect safety on the Mark III. Best bet is to remove the magazine safety arm and spring, and the hammer bushing. Replace the Mark III hammer bushing with a Mark II hammer bushing. You will then find that the magazines drop free.
Can you damage anything by reassembling incorrectly. I had the hammer strut in wrong position and firing pin would not stay cocked. I figured it out and got it right and gun seems to function fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
This firearm is a pain in the @*% to field strip. Great video!!! I would just like to stress how important the position of the hammer strut is in relation to the main spring housing. I have always liked mark 1's but this can be hell to take down if you don't have a masters in mechanical engineering. Your vid was very helpful. Thank you!!!
woo finally i got it i been trying all day its by far the hardest pistol to break down man i dont know if i will ever clean it might just run a bore snake through it thanks to youe vid i got though cause the ruger vid didnt help
thanks i favorite part 1 and 2 of these vids i just bought a mark 3 target with the bull barrel today but its the talo edition has the pretty wood grips and high viz but i will use this vid after i shoot tommorow to clean it i hope the dissembly goes good for me i heard it was a pain
if somehow you put some more weight inside the magazine would that help it drop free? that's how they manufacture airsoft pistols, mine have weights in the magazines because they're so light which allows them to fall right out of the gun. if your airsoft gun doesnt come with a weight in the mag they even sell aftermarket mags with weights inside, maybe you could find one for the Ruger as well? if not i'm sure it would be simple to fabricate your own.
I really don't see how this is so hard, it actually seems simple too take a Mark III down, my only concern is keeping the hammer down which I'm sure is no biggie. Good video not annoying like the actual Ruger one, which is good but it's pretty dull but informative, though not as much as thus one because you can say the cons and the ruger guy would be fired if he did for dishoning his companys product. 5 star video.
everything you showed was great.... except the MOST important part - that "pin" or lever under the bolt. i have been fighting with assembling this stupid gun for 2 hours and everytime i put the gun back together, the bolt doesn't come back all the way. my gun must be really messed up, the way you put everything together, it made it look so damn easy. i have to FIGHT with my damn gun just to get the pin in or take the barrel off. thanks anyway.
Thanks for the tips. I am considering buying a Mark lll and heard some of the nightmares about field stripping it. Some of your video had the pistol out of camera frame and was a little hard to understand.
for easy takedown i use a wooden meat tenderizer and a chopstick, the stick moves the hammer nicely and a tap from the mallet is still required for mine even after several hundred rnds.also ruger switched to a hollow roll pin for the firing stop pin, i thought i lost mine when i first took it apart, i guess it is another fed. requirement so a guy can't swap the firing pin too easily.
just bought a mark 111 hunter, tried to clean it after 1000 rounds.i followed your video, but after i pulled the lever out with paper clip, the whole assembly does not swing out--all the way, it will only come out like half an inch. Is it because it is new or is there a part inside the gun that is caught. The gun works,,,need help.thanks.
1,000 rounds through the pistol is going to have a decent amount of fouling I know it all to well. The first hand full of times you disassemble the pistol it is very tight (occasionally using the coercion of a soft mallet). I would venture a guess that between your pistol newness and the fouling, it will just take a little forceful persuasion. By chance did you try to field strip it before your first time shooting with it?
yes, i tried to fieldstrip it beforefirst time shooting it. I was studying the diagram from the manual and i could not see any internal part that's preventing the assembly to fully swing open. I noticed after shooting few rounds, i was able to swing the assembly to about an inch. but still with resistance. or is it pivot pin that's tight? thanks.
Just wanted to say thanks for this vid. Right after I got my Mk 3 I discovered the instructions in Ruger's manual weren't the best for disassembly. I managed to get it apart and back together, but was mostly surprised by the tight fit on all the pieces. That, plus the odd contortions I had to go through to get the pistol back together caused a bit of profanity to fly. Leaving the mag in for easier dis/assembly is a nice tip, and one I'll use next time I clean the little monster.
Yeah. I believe the Mk3 manual should include a list of cusswords at the back, just in case you run out while you're trying to reassemble the pistol. I know I did the first time.
Hi Orbital. Thanks for the instructional Vid. I just subscribed mainly because of these 2 parts. Your Mark III came across and put together quite easily. Aproximately how many rounds do you have thru it and aproximately how many times have to disassembled and assembled it?? Very crucial as mine is really tight. Still relatively new. 1000 rounds thru it and taken apart about 6 times. Thank you very much. sincerely, JAMES.
Good questions. I have probably 15,000-20,000 rounds through it, but thats just a guess. I used to shoot about 500 rounds through it, three times a week, to warm up on. The first few times I took it apart I needed a soft mallet to assist. I'd also guess I've cleaned/re-assembled it 30-40 times perhaps (?) with a few F-bombs when I was less proficient. It does become easier to field strip and clean the more you do it.
excellent video. thanks.

Help! My Mark III jams a lot. Out of 100 round, it would jam 7 to410 times. I clean the handgun after every use. Still jams. HELP.
