@lkdjsnvlmksd One of the last freedoms left in the USA - IF YOU follow the rules under FAA Title 14, part 103. God Bless America. Land of the free, home of the brave.
@LarryCanFly You would HAVE to be brave to fly that thing. Is there any maintenance schedule on the moving parts, or does one just count on crashing it before it disintegrates from normal use?
WOW, I cannot believe you are still alive. If you had any kind of common sense you would go spend more than 10 hours of dual in an R22 before actually flying this thing. That 2 stroke engine is not ideal for running constant at high RPM and when it quits, there is no way you're going to pull off asuccessful auto. Get some REAL formal training...save your life.
@shashair just take it slow, read read, practice, talk to pilots,if you want to do this and be safe, learn learn, safety. There are a lot of pilots that have been flying a long time, everyday is a learning experience.
Awesome videos and flying!! I have a few comment and questions. Comment on the camera--if you get an anti-vibration mount, your videos will be way smoother (or you can use software to remove some of the vibrations). Questions: if you have 20 years in planks and you did some training in an R-22, why not go for Mosquito XEL or one of the closed-cockpit versions? Safe flying and God bless.
@pi3k I'm actively looking for a solution to the video vibration, all suggestions are welcome. The XEL is great but I love flying slow WITHOUT a windshield! Try it and you will too. Over 35mph ski goggles are great. Skids and pontoons would be great. Also I like fuel in a easy to remove standard-gas-can that I can leave outside, the XEL has an integrated fuel tank. Thanks for your comment and questions! GB.
hey, what does the FAA say about this? is there an altitude restriction, do you have an onboard radio...? and how long of a flight can you get out of that marvelous machine? thanks for your help, it means alot! and good luck with your flying!
@SketchRC The FAA says (see Title 14, Part 103). Answers: 2) 10,000 feet, 3) Radio not required, 4) One hour. Thanks for your questions & comments, GB
Wow ! What great fun. I wish I had one too. Could fly it to work. What a nice place to live and learn to fly from. A river, an island and bush land. Perfect. Nice.... Do you still have this machine ? or have you moved on to a bigger one.?
10 days from first hover with training wheels to free as a bird (albeit a noisy one:), congratulations ! And you're making it hard on yourself by practicing in the woods. That must help to really focus your attention.
@GregoryLog I understand, the thing is - we don't know the size of our tank and so don't know when it's full. :-(( And maybe it's not a fixed size. Maybe it can expand. I'm thinking maybe these crazy things I'm doing expands my life tank? "My cup expandeth, pour more." , LHB 8am,30May10 :-)
I seriously respect you Larry. Learning by doing. From the videos you look to be going about it in a thorough and cautious manor. Disregard the nay-sayers who tell you you're going to get hurt - they have no imagination! If nobody took risks we would never have flown aeroplanes or helicopters. Keep it up mate.

Fly be free! You seemed like you had good control, just always remember to have an out planned whenever you can in case the engine decides to quit on you. Even us commercial guys are always expecting the worse with 10,000 parts flying in formation ready to break apart!
@lenteboom Kit $25k, pro building $5k, the ultralight version like this one, operated under FAA FAR Part 103, is one of the last vestiges of freedom left in the world, right here in the USA (land of the free, home of the brave).
@LarryCanFly for how long? the crazies say we're the crazy for exercising our right to fly. One thing constant about people, my friend is that they always want to tell other people what is right and wrong. That's why we need to keep the religious nuts out of our schools and why our 2nd amendment rights are so important.
I really want one of these little choppers. Where can I buy one and how much do they cost? I don't really want to build it from parts. Do they come preassembled?
Good grief! Don't give 'em any ideas! I'm counting on the wine to calm and appease them ( see: larry flies to Phyllis's farm, and a video titled "Thanks for the wine") ----
BTW everyone, thanks for your comments. They make my day!
Larry, How much was your mosquito ultralight total? And did you build it yourself, buy in kits, or buy pre-assembled if you don't mind me asking? Also, in future vids, could you possibly take us viewers on an adventure maybe flying above the river but still following it?
