The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was the first time since Claudette Pace that Maltese was heard in a Eurovision event from the singer Nicole Azzopardi with her song "Knock Knock...Boom Boom"
@uudrakgvens94 In those days each country had two jurors, who awarded each song between one and five points. So, with 17 juries voting, the very minimum any song could get was 34.
Quite undeservedly that year's bottom-placer (barely raking any votes to speak of from the juries), but I personally love it. An uplifting melody, very charming; it takes me to a summer afternoon on a Maltese beach. It's just that "Freaks, Hell's Angels and hippies" part that comes completely out of nowhere.
Hard to avoid last place with a mess like that. I'm sure Europe felt quite embarrassed seeing an insane looking man pestering a nice young girl like that.
come on guys! just be proud of your own heritage!!! it's not yesterday that they were singing!!! clothes and costumes are what were in fashion those years in the 70s and the hair dos... havent ever saw: that 70s show??? it's similar costumes and hair do's!!!
A really good attempt from Malta! No idea why this finished last (unlike the 1971 Maltese entry) .I like it quite a lot! Thanks for uploading!I am looking forward to the Finnish entry!
I sort of like this one. Even in this strong year, I don't think it deserved last (unlike "Marija-i-Maltija"). A very nice song, very catchy and a great arrangement. Also a decent performance. It sounds like the Mediterranean. I like this song best of their first three attempts. Btw, you're not entirely correct on this being the last time Maltese was heard in the contest, as Claudette Pace uttered a few lines in Maltese in Stockholm in 2000.
Oh, yes, you're right - thanks for the correction, and I'll correct it right away. And, indeed, this is kind of a guilty pleasure for me, really, and I agree it's by far the best of those early attempts of theirs. I esp. like the part at the end with shout-outs to the Italiani and the Spanioli :-D
@SundownerDrifting - LOL - I clearly remember that year's eurovision. I was just a child. The whole of Malta was somewhat sure that this time we would not come last. It was a hip song, freaky, we thought, and very in line with the times... and it came last :)

This one always makes me smile. Did not deserve last place.
derekjtaylor 3 years ago 8
Guys let's all keep in mind that it was in 1972.So the way they look and dress it's all a matter of time.
Well we should sent a song in our national language Maltese for the next Eurovision song contest. After all we are Maltese not English.

@breizhcatalonia1993 It's mainly talking about what "a kiss" is called in different languages, that's why it mentions it-Taljani and l-Ispanjoli.
