My main point was not about PC fanboys, my main point was that people take Apple for grated and don't think about what they have done in the past.
There aren't many mainstream programs that aren't available for Mac. Such as Adobe CS, Microsoft Office, good browsers, even Windows can be put on a Mac.
I don't care about games. I have a PS3 for that.
It's quality vs. quantity. Mac is quality. PC is quantity...
@moviesunrated Quality doesn't matter when what you're measuring is a set of numbers, aka "Hz" or "FLOPS". An Integer may be more appealing than a Real Number, but if it lacks decimals on the end, you're just getting less, in a prettier package. Thats a pretty good analogy for what apple does.
Also, PCs are open source, whereas Macs are not. That goes a long way for most users, especially those looking for power in a specific area.
@kerog6 It's not just the hardware that counts, it's the OS as well. The price you pay is for Mac OS and cheaper updates (Lion is only like $20, Windows 7 is like $100)
In my experience, Mac OSX runs much better than Windows.
Windows 7 seems decent. It's not very good on my mums laptop (Her specs are better than my brothers MBP) but on my dads desktop it seems rather good.
But I prefer the way Mac OS works. I also need Final Cut, no matter how crappy FCPX is.
@moviesunrated well i can see that this is getting into an anecdote argument, which is ideal because there is really no logically right answer to the argument as of yet.
All i can really say at this point is that i could easily find a few reasons to try a mac at this point, but there are more reasons not to, mostly experience related, like losing function keys and windows-based programs.

My main reason was to use Final Cut. But I also wanted a change from using Windows.
If you ver get a Mac, avoid getting a Magic Mouse. I have one and I keep thinking of buying a wired mouse. It just scrolls whenever my finger slips the ever so slightest amount. Terribly annoying when you're trying to concentrate on something then it just disappears in the blink of an eye.
@moviesunrated i agree. as it is right now, the only mice i see myself using are a microsoft intellimouse and a logitech gaming mouse. plus, blender is fine for whatever i need in terms of video making, so i dont think ill consider a mac at the moment.

The Hardware is created in the poorest of countires in factories. Just like all other hardware.
They use the same circuit boards & hardware etc..Buy Apple create it in a way of restriction to Modification, the same as how their software is built.

not to burst your bubble or anything but was not a juggernaut in the industry reason being that he wasnt the first to create a touch screen phone nor a touch screen tablet nor a downloadable store first iphone was borderline prehistoric with no useful applications no camera could really do anything on it and they released the same phone year after year with one extra component to it so he was a money grabbing whore and im glad he is dead

I think people take Apple for granted.
The majority of people seem to believe that Apple just make nicely designed and overpriced products, then you have PC fanboys complaining about Macs as if they have actually used one properly.
But, what have Microsoft done that's innovative? They didn't bring along stuff like a GUI, mouse and simple design. They just brought along a decent operating system. Nothing that's rather life changing. Otherwise tell me.

I think you are missing what the "PC (which includes Mac) fanboys" are complaining about it. For the most part I see them complaining about it being overpriced, not supporting enough games/programs, not allowing the same amount of customization that people are used to and the Mac fanboys overrating it.
How could you not see that it was a rhetorical question?

My main point was not about PC fanboys, my main point was that people take Apple for grated and don't think about what they have done in the past.
There aren't many mainstream programs that aren't available for Mac. Such as Adobe CS, Microsoft Office, good browsers, even Windows can be put on a Mac.
I don't care about games. I have a PS3 for that.
It's quality vs. quantity. Mac is quality. PC is quantity...

@moviesunrated Quality doesn't matter when what you're measuring is a set of numbers, aka "Hz" or "FLOPS". An Integer may be more appealing than a Real Number, but if it lacks decimals on the end, you're just getting less, in a prettier package. Thats a pretty good analogy for what apple does.
Also, PCs are open source, whereas Macs are not. That goes a long way for most users, especially those looking for power in a specific area.

@kerog6 It's not just the hardware that counts, it's the OS as well. The price you pay is for Mac OS and cheaper updates (Lion is only like $20, Windows 7 is like $100)
In my experience, Mac OSX runs much better than Windows.
Windows 7 seems decent. It's not very good on my mums laptop (Her specs are better than my brothers MBP) but on my dads desktop it seems rather good.
But I prefer the way Mac OS works. I also need Final Cut, no matter how crappy FCPX is.

@moviesunrated well i can see that this is getting into an anecdote argument, which is ideal because there is really no logically right answer to the argument as of yet.
All i can really say at this point is that i could easily find a few reasons to try a mac at this point, but there are more reasons not to, mostly experience related, like losing function keys and windows-based programs.
I feel awesome for this not becoming a huge flamewar. dont you?

@kerog6 I don't really think that people should generally buy a Mac. I think they should have more of a reason.
My main reason was to use Final Cut. But I also wanted a change from using Windows.
If you ver get a Mac, avoid getting a Magic Mouse. I have one and I keep thinking of buying a wired mouse. It just scrolls whenever my finger slips the ever so slightest amount. Terribly annoying when you're trying to concentrate on something then it just disappears in the blink of an eye.

@moviesunrated i agree. as it is right now, the only mice i see myself using are a microsoft intellimouse and a logitech gaming mouse. plus, blender is fine for whatever i need in terms of video making, so i dont think ill consider a mac at the moment.
