Ive never had a new car where so many strangers approach me and rave about it. Its appearance is ultra modern, high quality, and sporty(It looks expensive). Whether this is good or bad is up to you. Features equal the Acura TSX, but looks far better! I see the Acura drivers jealous stares at stops!

I own 2007 camry hybrid and it's faster than sonata hybrid for performance. It goes from 0-60 mph in 8.0 seconds while sonata hybrid gets 9.2 seconds. Camry hybrid is heavier and only has 187 hp. Toyota knows how to make hybrid very quick. Toyota already has 10 years of hybrid experience when 2007 camry hybrid came out while Hyundai gets their first year of hybrid experience on 2011 sonata hybrid. As a result, the reliability from toyota is higher than hyundai.
Still uses Gas, give us FUEL CELLS, it still uses gas that is over priced and produces poisonous gases. Anyone who purchases a NEW car in the coming year that uses a GAS ENGINE, have fun trying to selling your car in 3-4 yrs when gas hits over $4/per L in Canada and $5per G/USA, Hyundai/Kia will release Fuel Cell Hydrogen's in 2012 and Toyota in 2015, so who will purchase your GAS DRINKING vehicle in 2-3yrs ??? This was an informative review, but this guy is obviously stuck in the past for two reasons. 1) EVs are pretty darn fast now. Batteries don't have to wind up in the same way conventional engines do. 2) Hyundais have been reliable cars since the early 2000s. They're up there with with the Japanese and the Germans. That being said, this is a damn cool looking hybrid.
Recalled because the US government wants a non defeat able artificial engine sound to protect blind people. What? Isn't the best point of the car that it is QUIET?
The only thing I really care in performance, is strong passing speed on an incline. I must accelerate quickly - under 7 s 0-60.. I don't need a car that does 150 mph...maybe 95 mph and get 50 mpg.
The review was quit honest however Hyundai is having problems delivering this car that they won't disclose. First it was going to be sold in December 2010 then it slipped to Jan., then Feb. then the first 1/4 quarter, now maybe mid April. Hyundai is not talking to the dealers about there problem or the customers who want the hybrid. There consumer department doesn't even have an answer. Why is Hyundai advertising these cars when you can't buy them??

I have the sonata hybrid premium. Get 45mpg hwy @ 65-78mph (important to use cruise cntrl, or drops to 38.). With mixed driving, getting 32-38. Handling is incredible, power is not lacking. Ive never had a new car where so many strangers approach me and rave about it. Its appearance is ultra modern, high quality, and sporty(It looks expensive). Whether this is good or bad is up to you. Features equal the Acura TSX, but looks far better! I see the Acura drivers jealous stares at stops!

@andragachew Because of the problems with other Asian makers' patents AND sorry but this car is not fuel efficient at all (besides the already known poor reliability of hyundai). Who knows about cars never buy hyundai, that's for sure. The non-hybrid makes better number, shame on mediocre-hyundai, always lying, always selling rubbish.

Toyota or Honda has nothing on Hyundai....Hyundai holds the throne and will continue to do so...no one has to wait 10 years to find out anything, that was pretty stupid to say....Hyundai is confident and the numbers prove it. I own 2007 camry hybrid and it's faster than sonata hybrid for performance. It goes from 0-60 mph in 8.0 seconds while sonata hybrid gets 9.2 seconds. Camry hybrid is heavier and only has 187 hp. Toyota knows how to make hybrid very quick. Toyota already has 10 years of hybrid experience when 2007 camry hybrid came out while Hyundai gets their first year of hybrid experience on 2011 sonata hybrid. As a result, the reliability from toyota is higher than hyundai.

Still uses Gas, give us FUEL CELLS, it still uses gas that is over priced and produces poisonous gases. Anyone who purchases a NEW car in the coming year that uses a GAS ENGINE, have fun trying to selling your car in 3-4 yrs when gas hits over $4/per L in Canada and $5per G/USA, Hyundai/Kia will release Fuel Cell Hydrogen's in 2012 and Toyota in 2015, so who will purchase your GAS DRINKING vehicle in 2-3yrs ??? Manufacturers will continue to make GAS CARS if you keep buying them.

@GotstuffStoppa Hydrogen cars have been around for almost 15-20 years.I have a hydrogen filling station 10 miles from my home in california.the problem is there is no infrastructure.its not the cars its the united states dependency on foreign oil.in my opinion corn ethanol is the way to go it has very few emmisions if any most cars can use it even if there not made to its cheap to make.it also creates AMERICAN JOBS.and we can tell the middle east what they can shove there opec.

@GotstuffStoppa Agreed but i feel it has more to do with econimics hydrogen is very expensive and there is a bit of a learning curve just to use it properly.the extras add weight. i believe you have to keep it cool at all times or your driving a bomb.hydrogen has a huge advantage as tiny fuel cells go pretty much as far as we can engineer a combustion engne to use it.volume sales would reduce costs as you said.but i feel it would take a glacier hitting the U.S. to stop dinofuel.

I LOVE BIG AMERICAN V8s THAT WASTE SCREAM AND PUNCH BIG HOLES IN THE OZONE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEEN.but im getting one of these as my daily driver.gotta do my part.i drive 14,000mi on my current daily driver i fill up about 77times per year ON PREMIUM $79.00 per fillup california.with the sonata i calculate 20-30 fillups on REGULAR at 45ish a fillup.thats about 4000$ in fuel cost annually.UGGHH WINNING !!!

i thought this review was well done, tho more information on what fuel efficiency figures you were able to attain would have been helpful.
I think this looks fantastic and the interior is SWEET. Not sure if i'm the hybrid type but the regular sonata is on my test drive list when it's time to turn in our Maxima..

This was an informative review, but this guy is obviously stuck in the past for two reasons. 1) EVs are pretty darn fast now. Batteries don't have to wind up in the same way conventional engines do. 2) Hyundais have been reliable cars since the early 2000s. They're up there with with the Japanese and the Germans. That being said, this is a damn cool looking hybrid.

The only thing I really care in performance, is strong passing speed on an incline. I must accelerate quickly - under 7 s 0-60.. I don't need a car that does 150 mph...maybe 95 mph and get 50 mpg.

The review was quit honest however Hyundai is having problems delivering this car that they won't disclose. First it was going to be sold in December 2010 then it slipped to Jan., then Feb. then the first 1/4 quarter, now maybe mid April. Hyundai is not talking to the dealers about there problem or the customers who want the hybrid. There consumer department doesn't even have an answer. Why is Hyundai advertising these cars when you can't buy them??

What a shame must be for GM that a Korean automaker is making such formidable cars. I used to think of Hyundai as a cheap car with distasteful design for the unexperienced buyer. Now they are the makers of the most beautiful mid-size sedan ever. Every time I see one on the street I can't help but wonder why GM or Ford can't make a desirable car like that? Is it too hard for Americans to let loose of plain conservative designs and just lean towards the super futuristic?

Would you get a tax credit off the $30,000 or is this the price after the tax credit. The prius is a nice car and tax credits have been given for buying them in the past. With enough of a tax credit I would buy this car. I would like a Sonata Hybrid in a hatch back.
