I prefer medium frets normaly, i don't really prefer the thin ones on the EC strat but they are obviously part of the general playability of the guitar, which is one of my most comfortable to play. Although it's a bit weird to play modern rock on because the bends are slightly harder and i find sliding can catch me out where the frets make quite a sharp blockage against the finger as opposed to a jumbo fret say where the rounder top of the fret allows your finger to slip over smoothly.
It's a pretty individual tone for a strat, but a strat through and through still. It's very versatile too! Clean it sounds awesome with chords or soloing especially the neck pickup, and with the TBX it makes a huge huge difference to a clean tone in volume! and it beefs it up as well, makes a much thicker tone, with mild distortion it will take you from warm crunchy blues into a thicker harder distortion and a gain in volume, with lots of distortion i notice no effect
but then heavy distortion tends to null and void a lot of tonal character, the mid boost i always have set on 10 to be honest but the 5 position marker (it gently clicks into it) on the tone knob is where a standard strat tone would be at 10, and there is a noticeable difference in brightness and punch playing clean and with mild distortion but not so much with heavy distortion, other than that the guitar is so easy to play, not great for big bends though! It has a 7.5" or 9" radius i believe.
Cheers tosser, And i've been looking at upgrading my kit, i was thinking maybe go for something a bit flashy, spend maybe as much as £150 on a guitar AND amp! what you reckon? Mind you.. i might stop appreciating the guitar for what it is if i just own lot's of expensive ones ay?

Great job. I love the tone of a Clapton Strat. How versatile is the guitar, with the mid-boost and TBX? Does it really make a noticeable difference?
