what strikes me after seeing the whole series is that no matter what tools there are at hand, a master can produce stunning results. If you listen to Frank in the sixties and Frank in the eighties the sonic worlds are still the same, but his gear only got better. But he heard it from day one. The sign of the real artist. Probably the only man of the 20th century music world who deserves the title 'genius'.

Zappa was such a complex and, at times, contradictory character. But, as this documentary clearly shows, he was a brilliant artist and a substantial intellect who saw clearly and spoke bluntly. How many people who know of "Dynamo Hum," or "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow," or "Valley Girl" have the slightest inkling of his other work?
