Sometimes I feel like people are only obsessed with Halloween only because it's barely ever played. Don't get me wrong, it's incredible, just like all of Dave's music (with the exception of the Everyday album). However, I think that people only like it SO much due the fact that its so rare. The song itself has become more of a trophy to have "heard it live" than to have actually appreciated it as a song.

@Obeckisan That's absolutely not the entire truth. Sure, it's rarely played, with the exception being lately, but the reason its so sought after for live shows is the shear intensity with which the band plays it. On Crowded streets its just a mid tempo, spooky kind of song. But live, well LIVE the song is intense, high tempo and incredibly energizing. Plus the emotion Dave sings the song with is literally unmatched by any other song in their repertoire.

@Droz0317 I agree that it is certainly an incredibly entertaining song to hear live due to how intense it is. But I certainly think fans wouldn't appreciate it if it was as common as say Crash Into Me.

i was at this show, thanks for posting! the encore was supposed to be Rapunzel but was replaced after much discussion onstage due to the ENTIRE crowd chanting HAL-O-WEEN, HAL-O-WEEN, HAL-O-WEEN...

i have seen alot but never witnessed anything quite like that before (the crowd)

been a huge fan of this song ever since 1995 when i got the album "Recently" which features the epic Watchtower>Halloween.

Boyd's solo at the end is waaaaayyyyy too long.

I absolutely love DMB and Ants Marching.  Jamming before the song is awesome, but that super-extended solo at the end kills the momentum of the song, in my opinion. It's a great pop song because it flows so well. Please Boyd, shorten your solo.

sure, ants is the pinnacle DMB song. But its been played almost 1000 times. Im sorry halloween ruined this one for you? go to another show, youll hear it again. Halloween on the other hand? once in a life time.the song is hardly evr played, and the one song most people still look for. THIS is the Pinnacle dmb song for a real fan. True passion right from dave, raw emotion. Ants cant bring that out of him. you only get shit like this from Halloween

ive been to 66 dave shows thhis year will be my 6th gorge trip comin from mass and have never heard halloween. from the begining my 2 songs ive wanted 2 hear most are seek up and halloween now i just need halloween.Halloween is such an mazing song with so much passion if he does halloween you know its gonna be a good set with some serious emotion. still not sure how ants was ruined seeming as though it was played right after and is often played without the snare intro (see central park). halloween represents a dark time dave and the band went through when they were younger, also shown by the deep songs off the same album such as the stone. last stop and halloween are similar in rock, drum heavy styles.

What is the song in the middle. Thinks it is anti-climatic to intreupt Ants with it. What is that song. Guess it must be a song like Spotlight - if it were something other than a song, it would be a turd. To be honest that middle section ruined a classic Ants Marching.

@kissmusiclover that would be Halloween...as noted in the title of the clip. One of the most rare and epic Dave songs of all time...never heard a true fan whine about this. as you can see when the beat drops around 1:00, the crowd goes wild.

@jpl5162 well this true fan thinks ruinging a classic like 'Ants Marching' with thie weak song - Dave would be better playing 'Spotlight' cause this song at to me does not represent the band. They should never mix with 'Ant Marching' would of rather listen to 'Last Stop' a 1000 times more and this. The more rare and epic song by DMB would either be 'People People' or 'Spotlight'. The need to play those instead of this again.

@kissmusiclover also, people people was stopped playing obviously because of cowriter/pianist Peter Griesar leaving. his accompaniment was the main part of the song. and dave said he hates spotlight in an interview lol
