  • nice speech.. if it only wasn't for that fucking mosquito background noise I would have gone through it

  • amazing love terrance mckenna we need to rid our self of the social boundaries

  • i'm gonna get high and watch this cause it just blew my mind sober

  • Having spent that last 10 years working in IT and have reloaded a 1,000 pcs with different operating systems ('98, NT, XP, Linux) ~ I cannot see any similarity between the human mind and an "operating system".

If you wanna get off your head - just do it and enjoy it.

Please don't try to justify it by listening to this rubbish. If you want to "upgrade" yourself - read more books and ask more questions.

This sounds like the ramblings of madman with a Tangerine Dream track in the background!

  • The music is annoying and distracting lol

  • deep

  • oh man, you had me when you included mark henson's work in your video. aside from alex grey of course, he's perhaps my favorite visionary artist of our time. in fact, i procured a treasured print of "sharing the wealth" hanging on my wall right now. excellent video, thank you so much!

  • Thanks Redban !

  • Anyone know what music this is?

  • wow what a great analogy thank you terence for your wisdom

  • 11 People have bad operating systems. How can people dislike what McKenna is saying???

  • Talk about mind blowing..

  • very nice indeed.

  • very interesting

  • TECH SUPPORT!!!!!

  • 4 grams for first time in the forest with sitter what do u think

  • we listen to this wisdom yet we are still "star struck" by celebrities otherwise known as massive consumers kissing ass and buying further into the contradiction.

  • Loose the fucking alien noises so I can actually hear what he's saying!! WTF people

  • @MarcBassoFilms I was just to mash this out on my keyboard when i saw that it had been posted only 1 post down. Fucking seriously. It's taking something profound and making it seem like it's some weird shit from fucking mars. This is why people are afraid of mushrooms. Because they think that they're gonna get their asses probed.

  • woah this is deep. i'm too scared to try psychedelics though. i can't smoke cannabis without getting all anxious and paranoid. i've tried salvia and did not enjoy that at all.

  • @sh4p3shifter try smoking only a little bit of weed. it's most likely because you are smoking far more than your personal limit.

  • crazy video

  • 2c-E is an an amazing disc cleaner and the cool thing about it is that it is completely legal!! (well in Canada at least!) If we can start a neo-psychadelic revolution much like that of the '60's it would be awesome and it would do the world some good

  • that shit just fucked with my mind

  • We should test this shit out on Bill Gates.

  • you ever at the secret USAF base us near Clavius?

  • stop bullshitting and saying DMT is what causes you dream, it isnt, DMT's function is unknown, and DMT is not released when you sleep, and it isn't raw N,N-DMT look up pineal extractions, it can be used in a laboratory to produce raw N.N-Dmt tho. sleep is what your body needs to heal, and re-energize for another day of procreation. were not in control, nature is, get with the facts, peace.

  • Well it's definitly related to DMT. Look up sleep paralysis astral projection. I've been to different dimensions just by taking a nap.

  • I got my up grade already. :D

  • I was trippin the fuck out watching this.

  • I want some DMT - this is the be all end all - I fuckN love it!!!

  • The background sounds make the experience less enjoyable for me. Does anyone have the same conversation without it?

  • Fantastic

  • Very cool video 5*

  • Seems Terrence got lost when he gave over to what I might describe as "psychic materialism" somewhere around "...you need all the bells and whistles...:

  • That was beautifull..

  • Makes sense.

It's not suppose to be scary but if you are the one or many that have this faulty operating system, you mite want eat a few shrooms.

  • FUCKING AWESOME!

  • stupid sound and vocal effects

  • Yes, it's so right. We don't have to be the victims of our culture. We're just like prisoners of some device, though. How can we rid of this to be free? I really think the world has no way to reset both itself and human beings.

  • Mass extinction resets the world and human beings.

  • I just tripped the fuck out

  • Brandon Roy @ :57

  • Can please someone tell me what that 3rd eye/ spiritual art was in the beginning? examples are 0:58 2:04. I've seen it everywhere, but I have no idea who the artist is.

  • His name is Alex Grey.

  • I completely know and understand this brilliant

  • The so called OS that ran "this nation" up thru a large part of the latter century worked just fine until the forces of evil began to heavily promote so called "modern" thought which is arrogant, yet tolerant of anything IS the problem, but sadly for many people will not realize they've been duped until its too late! The answer are out there, but there NOT what OTHERS are TELLING YOU!!!!

  • terrrance mckenna was definately ahead of his time, brilliant man

  • @Headies08

He was not ahead of his time, and he acknowledges it; his references to shamanism of the Upper Amazon. The information that he is sharing has been known for centuries. For example, The Republic of Plato seems to impart this same message, although drugs are not acknowledged as being the means to free one from the cave, as being "disk erasers."

  • So what he is saying is that our experiences, thoughts and philosophies are based upon states of mind? that social conditioning determine these states of mind and that we should all take control and determine our own states of consciousness/mind?

    this is VERY interesting stuff!!

Im thinking...so all the time that buddhists spend meditating and so forth they are undergoing a slow process of changing their own "software"!?? Thankyou for uploading this :D

  • The bhuddists are ridding themselves are the computer altogether. McKenna is just changing the OS. Like going from Windows to Linux. The Bhuddists are going from the hardware to no-where, ah ha ha hha

  • Please i want to get as many answers as possible but how many times would one have to take a Pharmacological agent in order to erase that old data?

how many times would a person have to trip in order to get rid of his old operating system entirely?

I'm just gonna throw this number out there and say its 50 it probably isnt but oh well

i'd especially love to here from a person thats already gotten rid of years of social conditioning and programming

  • only takes one good trip man.

  • it depends on the drug, lsd is a great disc cleaner

  • i'm not sure who would give your comment a thumbs down, Headies08, but they've got a lot to learn. :P fully agreed, lsd is an amazing chemical when it comes to cleaning out culture's stain on the mind.

  • we need the new counter culture the new movement the revolution is now wakeup people we must use the net to subvert the world the media as robert anton wilson said OMP Operation MindPhuck

    reality is an illusiuon

death is an illusion we are consciosuness

where it comes from no one knows terences touches the surface he explains the unexplainable better than anyone else adn in a way i can i understand ive read most of his books. after having a spirtiual hallucinatory on no drugs

    im enlightend

  • there's a flanger on his voice lol

  • feedback

  • yeah, I am guilty for that - I regret it this day as his voice stands out as a whole FX-rack in it self :P

  • OOH PRAIS BE DO TO ALAH OR SOMESHIT lol, yea this makes lots of sense, but its a little too over the top. i think its like this, the brain works in 1 way, thats by conditioning itself to a reality that it thinks is there, when you want to make a new condition it takes weeks/months/sometimes years. but i think terence is letting us know the ebst way to recondition our brains faster and better. DMT MOFOS GO NUTS WOOOOO lol

  • im used to seeing problems in these psycadelic diatribes, but I agreed with him 90% on this one. Only problem is that drugs won't fix our problems. I hope that it will be found in revamping of our educational system. Adding philosophical classes, and teaching children the truth of corruption, not beautiful lies/overlooks for pleasure's sake.

  • In your case you most likely don't need because you're not narrow minded lol. Some people out there are so thick headed on what they believe is right or wrong have truth/integrity riding a totally different wavelengh. I agree that revamping the educational system will do some cleaning up in the future, this stuff is for all the fucktards we live with now lol!

  • the world is fucked!! we all need to unit and destory the system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is incredible, he basically put in to words what makes me sad about the world, I need some acid in me

  • i saw this two times to fully understand it

  • I love my disk cleaners!!! Praise Gandlaf for Terrance!

  • This might be enjoyable if the audio was fixed, try a normalizer for cry'n out loud.

  • Comment removed

  • This is stonerific!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • man, he's not just any genius, he's a metaphorical genius as well!

great stuff, wish i was old enough to have gone to his seminars and what not..

  • i've been unhappy ever since i was old enough to realise that the sixties existed and i wasnt there

  • ugh me too. Can someone invent a fucking time maching already?

  • @kyle2point In the sixties, drugs and "free thinking" was a trend. So many posers etc. Anyone who agrees with this video, and has experienced it, wouldve hated the 60's. Too much ego involved.

  • @godsizedhole How can posers be free thinkers? The sixties was all about expressing individuality, and no one had any egos because they were always loaded on acid. The sixties was the shit.

  • @kyle2point Then we shall create a better version of the sixties :P

  • dmt

  • ah the late terence mckenna... a genius

  • great GREAT stuff...

a change of that distorted fart music will do though ; )

    1

  • haha well-said

  • I love hearing this shit. I consider myself a free thinker becuase I was never presented a belief system like relegion in my life. I am always trying to make sense of this world around me because it feels so unreal. When I dream my mind almost acts if thats real. Everything that is taught to us in society is part of perpetuating thing that the universe want. Don't kill yourself its wrong, dont' do drugs, don't break our rules. Why is it set up this way. So many variations of the same shit.

  • you're all complicating it. doing it wrong!

  • great metaphors

  • So, in order to clear your mind of prejudices and whatnot you need to use drugs? That's a bit of a "pill-will-fix-it" attitude. The quick fix within a pill; it's everywhere. I think rational and intelligent human beings exist in crowds that aren't hallucinating off mushrooms or even DMT, for that matter. I remember a time when I was around people like this -- I was trying to get a guy to put his clothes back on after he thought aliens were coming out of his ass.

  • He's not saying you need to. And don't demonize drugs until you realize the delusions and accepted drugs you embrace on a daily basis. The true pill is society and culture.

  • I agree.

  • He is not talking about intelligent people, its somethink beyond you probably didnt experience yet.

  • You're an idiot that can't type.

  • Look the reason you get upset is because it's true and you can't handle it.

And if you would have take a look on my profile you would have seen that english probably isnt my first language. But in contrast to you i can speak more than only one. looser

  • my rest button was ecstacy

  • the easiest way to explain it is like pressing a reset button on your brain...

everything you ever learned is wiped away...

and i don't mean that you forget how to read or write and stuff like that

i mean you get to wipe away the things that are taught to you like religion and this whole concept of god

in the society where i grew up ( the united states) i was taught to be homophobic and when i tried acid those feelings i had towards homosexuals were gone

you basically have a fresh start

  • just caught the Alix J-..Great show, opened some awareness one wished impossiable, yet the doc's bear wittness to those acts unjust, decreeding Laws ,,--so I chill and cgi to unwind ,better than the view outside, unnatural streamers fill yhe skies-Tampering with the eco-bio systems on my threshole -enjoy life Bro ,u ace

  • Brilliant. Anyone who enjoys these concepts should read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn.

  • if you dont want to take a drug you can get the same experience from something called a self induce lucid dream. its actually much more eye opening. basically like taking dmt with out taking it.

  • I've looked into that and never found any evidence that state is at all related to a dmt induced state

  • Dmt is what is released in your 4th stage of sleep(rem) that is what makes u dream. well in science its all theory but dmt is a natural chemical released while u sleeping it is the chemical that helps u to hallucinate(dream). So if u become aware in ur dream (lucid) then its like knowing ur in a hallicination induced by dmt(which yu are). Only its completely natural. Its really cool and people say weird things its almost like ur brain is firing off random things so ur belifs fly out the window

  • Stop talking about this like you know everything, everyone has different experiences

  • and when your belifs fly out the window then your mind opens up to a bunch of possibilites you realize how similar the dream world and this world feel and seem. So then its like a big awakening. watch the movie "waking life" it will explain its a cool movie to go to only-moviesdotcom and search "waking life". you wont be sorry.

  • good shit. thanks for puttin me on to that.

  • I like how you assume I must not know any of that, which I actually do. I've seen movies and read many books on the topic and have had many hallucinogenic trips. I just studied lucid dreaming and projection for a while and I find dmt to be similar in some ways and incredibly different in others. To say because DMT is a drug released in sleep which causes dreaming, then inferring smoking it is the same as a lucid dream, is absurd. Smoking dmt when conscious is much more intense to your system.

  • well that was enlightening

  • The pic at 1:53 is so tight.

  • Its by the artist Alex Grey, check his artwork out.

  • 5/5 really liked it, im gonna go get "upgraded" and tell ya if i like my new operating system

  • I want the music.

  • Whether anyone agrees or not, I'm behind this. Reminds me of the saying "Kill them all, God will know his own"... I've prayed to myself in my darkest times that someone would just drop a heavy amount of LSD in the water system and we'd sort out alot of issues right there, would it be chaos? YES, but a volcano has to go off to make an island. thats how it works. in farming, grow too much of the same thing over time, and you must burn the fields to replenish the soil. Daffy Duck? pah-leez...

  • agreed, 100% cannot wait for dec 21 2012, i cant imagine anything but this happening....... others will soon see

  • I know what wave youre thinking on and I hope that when that day comes, whether the era of change lasts for 2 monthes or a decade, I hope to see you there. shine on.

  • Well yea, most people are a by product of their environment, religions, cultures, societies, all these influence the individual's way of thinking about themselves, and of others. He's quite right with the term, culture programing system makes for your culture operating system. Very few think outside the box, and those few are feared, ridiculed, ostracized from social norms, in some societies or cultures in other era of time they where even criminalized 4 their beliefs.

  • Hey Joe Rogan, awesome vid! I dont know if you know, but Alex Grey is a bit of a dick about people using his art for any purpose. Dont get sued! ;)

  • GREAT vid. Thx for sharin', bro.

  • The same psychedelics that make some people see daffy duck in the corner of the room with them?

  • gret video, but the background noise is annoying. can barely hear the guy talk.

  • that's an interesting way of thinking about it. and i think some of you guys are misinterpreting what he is saying. not once did this guy claim psychadelics will "cure" you or make you superintelligent or any of that, he merely says that it breaks down the wall you have created within your mind and allows you to recreate notions you have about, well, anything. if you have truly taken psychadelics this is hardly an arguable point, it definitely has this quality in my experience

  • thanks for the reminder..... appreciated

  • TERENCE MCKENNA BRAIN / and TERENCE MCKENNA DIES - on the Pythagorean calculator give a Phsycial death at age 54 - and a characteristic to his demise with numbers 35/8 - that is to say - ones name and its vibration seems to Hold one into this cultural system.. as far as i can tell -the (Pie) is a number operation - that can not be erased ? <- (download free numerology calculator) enter "common" name and dies.

  • The spectrum of input far exceeds the primative senses that our bodies have.

How in the world can you say or conclude that what you see when you halucinate is real or not? We do not even register all of the input comming to us, you people are totaly programmed robots.

  • Great video/talk. Psychedelics are indeed being touted here as a miracle cure though, when in most cases all they do is brutally cast identity out of its established mental constructs temporarily, because of the sheer energetic trauma occuring. Occasionally leaving you with great clarity of being, as a finale. But,it's nearly always temporary (coming from someone who took Ayahuasca,LSD,Psylocibin,in my 20s). Psychedelics can be a useful 'shock' method at the beginning. But they're not the cure.

  • I believe that since my first use of psychedelics I have really become a much better

    person.

contentment is the perfect way to describe it.

  • i dont think that i have something like a culture... i am maybe something like unix.^^

i <3 you for the DMT-thing.. thats the only highspeed way to get such an operatingsystem but its also one of the dangerous ways.

PS: totaly awesome video, <3 it.

    sry for my bad english

  • i dont know if you need to trip balls to realize you live in an imperfect society, but for some people it sure as hell wouldnt hurt

'id love to put LSD in the government's tea if theyd let me' - george harrison

  • A lot of Alex Grey paintings in there. Interesting stuff.

The last time I took any hallucinogenics,I reverted to the most primitive state I've ever known in my life. Everything seemed to just break down to it's simplest form. He's definitely on to something here.

  • lol - interesting when he mentioned the pharmialogical agent as a means to clean one's "hard-drive" and then gave pscilocybic mushrooms as an example becuase that was precisely the 'agent" I used to do exactly that - a intense trip in which I momentarily forgot myself and then discoverd my being and was able to reflect upon my existence without many of the preconceived biases that result from my culture and general impressions upon life that were formed in neonatal infancey, et cetera...

  • holy shit Joe Rogan is a G for putting this stuff up

  • Wow this man knows alot!

I wish, I had met him.

  • this is great, thanks for posting it

  • I'm happy for living in Sonora (Mexico) where you can catch a toad and extract DMT from it.

But I think everyone needs preparation to take a drug, even marijuana. When people is not prepared to take a substance he gets afraid or he gets in loved with it, both situations are bad for you.

  • That's 5 Meo DMT, not the stuff he's talking about. Still worth it I imagine so I'm still jealous....

  • that was deep!

  • tabrnack?

Are you from Quebec?, right now I'm living in Montreal. I don't speak french but I think that's a church insult here xD

  • Thanks but dont use my company name in vain, lol

I'm from Quebec, live in alberta now!!!

how's being fully english in quebec treating you .??Those french people are real pricks .hahaha

  • It's OK, the only ones who make me feel like a foreign are the bus drivers. But really nice people in general

  • The use of substances for societal change will not work. It is a quick fix option which is exactly what is wrong with society.

Spiritual unfoldment via good old meditative or contemplative means is the best and safest way forward. It requires discipline and a true hunger for change within oneself for one to see results.

Using psychoactive substances for spiritual growth is like using steroids for physical growth - in the end you can't keep your gains, plus there is always a price to pay.

  • this is wisdom. thank you.

  • its much clearer baked.

  • haha yeaah just watched it high

  • ooh me to, had to turn it off after 1 minute!

    to fuggin spooky man...

  • I love this! Thanks for putting it up.

  • Does anybody know who the painted the image at 1:22?

  • WcOx5: hmm! i have that jpg.... i'll see if i can discover its creator....

  • WcOx5: my jpg says stileproject across the top. dunno who did it.

  • Oh god. I love drugs so much.

  • lol you all just need to chill and smoke some weed.

  • untill the NWO takes it away

  • HAH! never. nwo IS weed

  • Please do come and see my channel. Terrence Mckenna is among the infuences waiting there to be seen.

  • Mind blowing thinking. Amazing pictures.

i want to trip so bad

  • deimosaturn i don't think its escapism but maybe vacationism, u know? unplug from the reality tv, processed foods, pollution, traffic, and celebrity magazines and take a vacation within ones self with a psychadelic cruise to the soul. maybe u will come back with a new perspective? we are killing ourselves with food, pollution, etc.

  • amazing and an amazing video also, my aunt saw him speak in person many times, I was too young and never got a chance and it's unfortunately too late now, but I love his ideas.

  • Does anybody know what compound he shows around 04:20? I've looked up bunch. I've been discussing it with a friend. We don't think it's a psychoactive. Thought it might be a tryptamine, but it didn't compare well with the popular tryptamines.

    --phillip.

  • So what is he saying? The less we understand about natural phenomena the more we can return to the good ol' days of living in fear of being disemboweled by a saber toothed lion? Societies help the organisms evolve, drugs don't. I think this guy is just trying to justify escapism.

  • You're wrong. These plants were here long before us, and most definitely helped our evolution, as have everything natural we consume.

  • If it didn't have a significant effect on survival in the distant past it then it will certainly have an effect on culture (in which the reproductive fitness of the individual isn't important) in the future. It's a technology - it may not appear to have a clear application now, but it could have some crucial function one day. Altered states let you examine problems differently.

  • Bionic, I think I know what the application of this technology is. Shamans used it to go on vision quests. In otherwords, escapism which was invented by mystics was validated by giving the drug to other humans. The impact psychadelics had on our evolution was the creation of religion.

Oh yes, we examine problems differently now. We jump to supernatural conclusions and kill whoever disproves them with science.

  • I don't see where you're trying to go by bringing religion into a discussion about evolution.

Ethanogens induce altered states of mind - that is very powerful. If there's no social or medical utility for it now it is conceivable that people will find one in the future. That's how emerging technology and evolution works - form first, then function.

  • You don't see? Let me elaborate.

Accidental and Random mutation results in a toxic plant which causes humans to trip.

This adaptation is refined into a cultural paradigm known as religion.

Religion is ULTIMATELY (that is in every conceivable manner) a deleterious adaptation of culture. It's only so prevalent because of the dependence on the euphoria associated with mysticism.

  • FYI Psilocybin mushrooms are NOT toxic. Idiot.

  • i listen to this on a daily basis

  • that was incredible

  • That's true to the bone. He's a great talker. Love his voice.

  • that was a joke ppl don't do it :P

  • we should all die.

  • wow, that sure was a mind fuck. excellent post.

  • great video so true

  • That was awesome.

  • Picture at 6:00mins is beautiful.

  • Well, look at this this way: if it weren't for the "bugs" of Humanity XP then we wouldn't know better so to actually choose to upgrade it :)

  • if it werent for the "bugs" of humanity, we wouldn't have to upgrade

  • Theres no such thing as a perfect "machine", us included.

  • As Lenkaaskai implies,Humanity XP isn't a 'total' failure. If somebody ditches Humanity XP in one big chop, they'd better be prepared for the shock at what lies beneath,as it's reality & humanity raw and unpredictable.People need initial safety nets to catch them,or they can fall very badly (especially if they have to continue operating within Humanity XP).Speaking from experience.Don't burn all your bridges.Special communitys to welcome newcomers who have shed humanity XP,are best.

  • Why repost it? I made it and uploaded it on my account but it's okay as long as the message gets out. But for the next time, ask before.
