  • why this guy look homeless? well, I know sometimes life get at u, I hope he doing good now and open a capoeira school

  • Completely agree with Poseidon. Capoeira is a fighting style that has many benefits. Learning this fighting style would help with conditontioning also reflects and many more. Its nearly a sport that has a uniqueness to it that no other fighting style has. I have takin' classes in Ju Jitsu and a very sessoned fighter. I have my black belt in Brazilian Ju Jitsu and ever since i learned Capoeira, ive had so much fun and my body's strength has impoved over just a month!

  • Taekwondo is wayyyyyy better

  • @Poseidon9110

Trollin' a bit, are you? I was good at TKD when I tried Capoeira and I don't regret having that supplement. It makes you use the muscles you didn't know you had, plus handstand-based moves are good conditioning for your upper body. Try it. Plus, it will introduce a move or two into your arsenal that your sparring partner won't see coming. All of us are "blind" to moves outside our own art, for the most part. Doing other arts makes you more aware or possible threats.

  • @joezline98473095 is right. any real fight would kill this guy. and @Matt2779 bring him on. ill beat that ass

  • this shit is as gay as richard simmons

  • Why can't people stop with the negativity?

  • hahahah he would last 30 seconds vs someone who does gracie jiu jitsu

  • hobos are cool now on this days

  • looks like a homeless guy ... but he does not only teach capoeira but also to never judge a book by its cover

  • i like this dude

  • This is great stuff. A master is a master.

  • Man I'd kick there asses, I'm a black belt in jiu jitsu and a 4th degree black belt in karate. And I agree with ichaelma6otheracount. Those kicks and all that crap they doing would be easy to stop.

  • @OrangeMarmalaid im sure your just jelous, and fat as fuck.

  • @OrangeMarmalaid You are not a real martial artists. Real martial Artists do not go around trolling and insulting fellow Martial Artists. This guy in the video would destroy you.

  • correct me if i am wrong, as i have only done taekwondo, but these kicks look weak. The first kick from the ginga (no idea how to spell that) is like a weak crescent kick, and form there the kicks start to relie alot on momentum, which means that you could step into the body, and pound them with quick knees. To get power you would really need to commit , and that seems like this would leave you open to attack. How would you deal with that? if you dont commit you have no power, how do you guard?

  • Capoeira is the dumbest martail art I've ever seen. If you walked back and forth like that in a real fight you'd get destroyed. Nothing I've seen here would work in a real fight

  • @OrangeMarmalaid not if you're good.

  • @OrangeMarmalaid lol id love to see you fight a expert at this shit, and get your ass kicked.

  • little streetboxing in the background starting at 6:50

  • hes a realy god teacher!

  • I live in NYC Brooklyn and i will like to learn Capoeira where are the classes?

  • although he does seem like a good teacher...he is still missing some complexities of the game that he's not really teaching them. he's teaching them for more street rhoda's but the great capoeiristas show the complexity and conversation between capoeiristas. also it's missing a berimbau....

  • @ummm120503

    they're still beginners

  • White dude needa loosen up

  • wish i could find a capoeria artist to teach me.

  • legal só falta o birimbau rrrrsssssss!!

  • he's a martial art pro

  • I couldn't play basketball because of these guys

  • @MrYaoMini Hahaha, you were like: "Oh it's ok! I can play basketball some other day, let them train... I will not disturb them!"

  • great arts thx nice demo

  • no offense but i do MMA and those kicks look like they have no power in them what so ever... dont mean to be an asshole.

  • love to see people teaching not for the money

  • man got to hit hard, not sof bro

  • where is this?the teacher is a cool dude,is he homeless?i would like to meet him

  • is there anyone in the ufc that fights with this style?.

  • @truerideskate wouldent work althou i think anderson silva does it

  • looks like good stuff but i dont like the foot work

  • This guy is way too nice, my instructor would kick my leg in, if I had a terrible ginga like that. haha

  • @lookit87

Weel Roberto Sharpe is one of the best

  • isso não é mestre nem aqui nem na china, primeiro que ninguem ginga com a guarda aberta desse jeito, segundo que nessa velocidade ele não bate em nada que seja vivo !

  • the white guy really has the dancing rythem the girl she sucks

  • @rockloverdude u gotta start somewhere kid

  • i wish someone would try this shit i would give'em a class on BJJ 101 realquick

  • É uma incrível oportunidade ter a chance de treinar com um mestre como esse, agradeça. =) Parabéns!

  • Brazillian teacher? ;d

  • Wow this guy is a complete joke, LMFAO! Get a life for real!

  • 3:15 tummy pwnt!

  • @terbernoms lol thats actually a dangerous technique called ponteira people get killed by it, the kick can rupture vital organs!!

  • he would get his ass kicked, street fights arent about gay ass techniques like this

  • @halomademepoor well then show a video of him getting his ass kicked. You internet warriors claim to be grandmasters of fighting, so show us a video of your awsome and superior techniques and show us "the way". Or are you just full of crap like the rest of them?

  • @ikcjjtt maybe the best post ive eva read on youtube. the ignorance and ego in Martial Arts is ridiculous. these guys presume so much, like this is all the guy can do.

  • @ikcjjtt LOL @ INTERNET WARRIORS. IM GONNA STEAL THAT ONE

  • wait he's brazilian i just found out

  • 5:05 that move is so unexpected and bad-ass, you can f*ck the other guys face up in that position while he is just realising his condition and does not even have time to free his leg.

  • is he a bummm?

  • @18gorditachula actually no, he has a class that he teaches and so, but hey i thought he was one too

  • @18gorditachula noh he has a studio i guess they just takin it to the streetz for fun n he's jamaican

  • i wonder how he got so good

  • Ok, I know the white guy (gruevie?) is probably better now, this was in 2007, but what I see is this: at 7:26 he is too stiff, needs to relax a bit more, same as I used to be constantly told by my tkd teacher. You can overcome that by using momentum to bring your leg around, it makes it easier and more fluid , not tensing up the muscles as it comes around, and not thinking about form too much.

  • very tactical stuff he's teaching

  • In my humble opinion, he should pay more atencion to the basics of kicking, those feet are all rong when doing the martelo. his a teacher, not like Mestre cobra mansa but a teacher.

the girl and the boy have to work in the balance and the ginga is with your arms up in the level of the mouth(jaw). they have a big road ahead in capoeira

  • this sucks

  • good man

  • mannnnn wheres the music? you cant teach Capoeira without having music; its like a sandwich without the bread!

  • That girl was so lost.......

  • man! i would love to learn capoeira!!!! who cares abt which martial art is better than what in a fight! this is bad ass!!! this takes alot more skill and body coordination! look ath the old man move!!!!! and to be flexible too!!!! and if u learn this, u are a natural break dancer!!!! and girls love guys who can break it down! LOL wish i had a roberto sharpe in my neighborhood!

  • @babosupaman I'm in taekwondo and it's just as effective if not more. Now im not baggin on this i love all types of martial arts but u know how it is, when ur in a type of martial arts u get hooked to it lol

  • @babosupaman

im learning myself cause there is no capoeira teacher and i looked on youtube saw the au sem mao and 2 weeks after i could do it properly

  • @babosupaman dude right on. start capoeira asap bro and it really is as fun as you'd expect it to be. The better you get, the more results you see, and suddenly you can't get enough of making new moves yourself.

I'd also suggest taking up guitar, but that's a little off-topic

  • was he in tekken

  • If anyone questions the value of capoeira simply look at the lady in the tight pants.

  • I hope you never mess with a master of the capeira art. It doesnt matter it you are son of Jet Li, youll be fucked!

  • @Arbalested this is not like the martial art masters from movies, he just needs love

  • @silkroad37 lmao...wtf lol WTF

  • this is more of a dance than real fightin.... pretty kool but would't help much in a real fight.

  • isso e nao capoeira mesmo this guy teaching is full of shit

  • @cricka09 why don't you go tell him to his face and see how ass whooping u will get? the guy will own ur bitch ass

  • @speedcannon69 yea ok you fuckin half wit, you know nothing about me i practice actual martial arts not this bullshit so get fucked

  • @cricka09 yeah yeah...suuure...and which dbz character U r?

  • Actually a friend of mine learns/ed capoeria and he was threatened by some pretty tough looking guys he took out 3 of em while I was busy with one. That was freaky, cool and I guess for them HELL SCARY . We 1 - They 0. I prefer stupid boxing and experience of streetfights though.

  • i mean it is a great way to spend a day in the park and to learn some martial inspired exercise/ dancefit and checking for hotties but if I seriously was into learning effective defense / offense then It would not be this dancer-fit but some authenic muay thai. Yeah try bringing it too me with your hands at your side -catching my foot or doing all that lame ducking and bending around my knees and elbows

  • @flancka capoeira isn't a fuckin dancefit, read some history before talking.

  • @Narbarok

cause it has history does't mean shit. Everything art has apparently started from some martial tradition but you don't get the green light to cry history when in fact what you are showing has been gutted and become sort of a martial dancefit. Perhaps this rings true for you, good luck with the blinders on

  • @flancka You are blind, each art has strengths and weaknesses, try doing your dancing muay thai off you back when you get taken down by a wrestler or bjj-er and get dominated. good luck with your knees and elbows from there. It is far from dance fit.

  • @sinhaserpente

NO, muay thai chaila has a grappling game and perhaps your real understanding of muay thai comes only from it being at the root of the stand-up game for most in the ufc. Muay thai with bbj or wrestling seems to be the most popular combo and sort of completes a fighter. But this stuff..hhahahahah you gotta be jokin. However I think the dude is gettin pussy so my hat goes off to him.

  • @flancka I train Muay Thai, it's grappling is standing grappling, limited to the clinch and trips/throws. It does not compare to the grappling of bjj, let alone wrestling. A wrestler or bjj practitioner will take down a Thai Fighter without much difficulty. I'm not saying this stuff is the best street defence, he is teaching striking with the capoeira context. But it is still training and the techniques are relatively sound. Don't talk about what you don't understand.

  • good vid it h3lps

  • no it does not

  • this is not martial art! only dance nothing more!in reeal fight they dont have any chance!

  • search for capoeira KO.

  • @zelaznamalpa they can apply these techniques in a real fight. The moves is to help you flow in techniques. You have to look beyond as you say the dance movements. You have to take the techniques in a real fight. Not the pre-arranged dance movements, that's not practical as you say.

  • wow.... i come from germany :-)

  • un clodo Capoeriste.

  • just a question, did this guy lives in this park?? hahaha

  • i like copeira and i learn now.... with robert i will be good... thank you roberto!

  • hmmmmm, could i learn this from this video?hmmm......

  • i dont doubt this guys capabilities in a fight, he seems very fit and i see he has good body control. but honestly he is doing people a disservice by trying to teach them capoeira. his own capoeira foundation is very week. his ginga is so sloppy. and he ends up telling his students things that they arent even ready to absorb yet because they are still in early stages of the art. you want real capoeira, look up Grupo Capoeira Brasil under Mestre Cabeca and in NYC Formando Abara. theres real capo!

  • I like the coach`s voice:) Like Samuel L Jackson`s)))

  • YO Stop hating on the GUY!!!!You guys Obviously He took classes he's not gonna do this out of knowhere and judging by his name he's obviously brazilian,Maybe he learned the english language at an early age...just stop hatin..shiieet.Nice video by the way.

  • lmao brazilian that is not a brazilian portugese accent, sounds pretty american to me and the stuff he is teaching is a joke he has no concept of fighting at all.

  • you fight him. im not being mean or aggressive but give it a try.

  • looks like new york i'm in england, tell him to go to renzo gracie academy and try this on the mat.

  • @daz45 Well capoeira isn't a martial art, it's a dance but that can be transformed into a deadly art...So basically this guy just found his own way of turning into a martial art...He probably started off breakdancing first.

  • I know that my cousin is a capoeria instructor with 3 schools, but this guy is trying to provide self defense techniques when he knows nothing.

  • @daz45 you know nothing this guy knows capoeria. Why are you hating?

  • He "may" and i use "may" very lightly know capoeria, but he does certainly not know how to fight properly on the feet nor on the ground, i box now and again i used to do more and i've had 13 amatuer kickboxing matches, i wrestle once a week and train jiu jitsu 5 days a week, so yeah i know nothing in comparison to this master!

  • @daz45 What you have to understand is he is teaching a beginner some street fighting concepts, he cant teach in 8minutes and 31 seconds all he knows!

  • @D0mIN1cAnO Actually, I think Capoeira it's better described as a culture. It incorporates the dance and the fighting aspect aswell, also the music, and even the life style. It's all these things, and none of it alone. Bye.

  • Do not waste your time watching this video and think qe poultry because it demonstrates that he does not and Capoeira!!!!!BRAZILLLLLLL

  • Sharpe and Roberto who??, what he perceives Capoeira?? Before teaching has much to learn, if you want you can come to Brazil to take a course of 15 years but i will be able to teach someone your crook.

  • Roberto....I am challenging you right NOW! I just watched "Only The Strong" and I'm gonna knock your teeth out!

    All 3 of them!!!!

    Watch my Jinga Biyatch!

  • stop trolling you stupid racist fuck.

  • i wonder why this Roberto Sharpe never had a fight on youtube capoeria its not really worth and i can say it cause im a MMA fighter and ive fight vs capoeira and they suck

  • hahaha shut the fuck up, this is not in Brazil, that bum is clearly from jamaica or something and that is a gay american tourist trying to get a date.

  • WTF? Gay Bums molesting each other? Brazil Sucks...except for the "WAX"...We Should have got the olympics...

  • Looks good! I don't know anything about Capoeira, but I bet I could learn some basics from this video.

  • You shouldn't be so self righteous abada friend. Roberto obviously knows a lot about capoeira, nowhere He speaks about regional.. cool down your head and take what's good from Roberto. I also see his movements as funny, awkward, but this is from abada point of view, and thera are so many more of them. pé quente, mas cabeça fria amigo :)

  • i bet he kick ur ass

  • si gringo si

  • ITS EDDY GORDO!!!

  • @2ndrangerbattalion ha from tekken I was thinking the same thing

  • @2ndrangerbattalion naw its his gramps that was in prison lol he finally broke him out lol

  • @individorig lol

  • they really need a true MESTRE

  • Does he still do training?

  • combine wrestling and Capoeira and thats a style

  • chriss1984. In this case your wrong, capoeira is not fast, its what ever speed you make it. Thats the beautiful thing about it.

  • And you are the one who is trapped within his own ego, and wish to Judge where you have no room to judge.

  • Form than freedom...

  • capoeira mesmo e no brasil

  • @TheHustlehard capoeira is gay because noone hits noone, but it has some good moves in it

  • just jab them in the eye once. very fast and quick. thats the end of it. and thats the end of all this bullshit nonsence waste of time. quick jab to the eye and gouge their eye out. dont finished. no need to waste ur time in this retarded slow movements

  • they are just practicing dip shit. capoeira is very fast.

  • There are other styles of capoeira you know..I think they're practicing angola

  • i know the main forms are regional and angola. but there are more. i do regional. some idiot was saying they looked gay going so slow. i cant stand people who say one style is better than the other. these are the people who either live in their parents basement and completely live through other people and base there decisions on that. or got their ass completely handed to them by a certain style and dont want people to know so they mock it

  • You're so dumb...123!

  • Today, a young martial artist has learned from Sharpe. I will make good use of what I learned from you in my training.

Thank you Mr. Sharpe, and respect.

  • I wish I had a teacher like him..

  • GREAT VIDEOS!

  • drunken masta

  • I think his capoeira is very good. Many instructors drop their hands in ginga for style, but they are not 'open' because they know how to defend. I am loving these vids!! -Seems he's doing more of an angola than regional.

  • His Ginga is Angoleiro like...that's more hotter than regional...

  • The guy is very obviously an angoleiro, you don't even need to watch many youtube vids to realize that

  • Much repsect to Roberto Sharpe

  • dear geoffting incase u don,t understand capoeira . i feel sorry for u ,because is all about learning something new ,so i would take back my comments if i wore u. ps. combination of tai chi and capoeira is pretty deadly

  • Multiple perspectives which are introduced by multiple arts, is a useful thing.

  • Wow, geoffting, the only thing you should be embarrassed about is posting. Clearly you are the subject matter expert on capoeira and tai chi. Roberto Sharpe's knowledge and technique seem to be very solid and his students have no problems understanding whats being taught. For centuries, training and instruction in the martial arts has been the domain of books, manuals and street instructors.

  • Geoffting is right though. The ginga isn't correct and none of their hands are up throughout the whole video. Even a beginner martial artist is taught keeping your hands up not only prepares you for better defense, but is the key to your central balance.

  • y dont u fight this guy and c how much ur raised hands will help

  • By the way I did not post for arguments sake. I was simply stating an observation. If you have intention on replying with anger please don't bother. However if you'd like to discuss it I'm perfectly cool with that. =]

  • go watch an real angelero and you could say the same. deception is the point.

  • Do you have some foundation in, the art of Tai Chi?

  • me? i studied chen taichi when i lived in taiwan, every morning, 6 am til 9 am, just me and my teacher. i went there cause i'd studied shaolin kung fu with shi yan zi, but was so impressed with chen style that i took it up. but now i've been doing regional capoeira for the past couple of years. it's fun.

  • All that excitement doesn't match me that well, that is why I didn't go for copoera when it was available in Fairbanks, Alaska.

  • Yeah I know dude! you got that Polar bear style in Alaska Right! I saw it on Tekken!! LMAO! CAPOEIRA is an AMAZING ART do your RESEARCH!!

  • There are plenty of styles in the World, that polar-bear emblem place in Fairbanks, Alaska is just selling that Ultimate-Fighting-Stuff. Would you do some research into the sales-hype for what does sell, here in Alaska.

  • I feel sorry for you. If you ever tried to confront Sharpe, he'd put you in the dirt. His Tai Chi and Capoeira isn't whats embarassing here, it's you mouthing off disrespecting someones teachings to other when you yourself cannot perform at par with his level or sub par to his level. So words of advise, unless your teaching a martial art and have proof to show you can perform at par to Roberto Sharpe, than you should stop posting indecisive comments.

  • you are so right!

  • el capoeira tiene onda para mostrarlo y que se yo

    como defensa personal es pesima.

  • Im glad someone is taking the time to offer free lessons to those interested in learning a specific martial art... I've seen a lot of critism reguarding his teachings. But until you start teaching as an instructor on a full time basis I think that comments that are not constructive should be left to the wind.

  • This guy is amazing to watch, wish I lived in New York.

  • professor muito fraquinho...

  • people need to watch what they say about
