You're being utterly stubborn to claim no rappers are artists. Sure, often enough they can't play instruments, but unless you're trying to argue that only instrumentists are artists (which is also moronic, of course), you need to re-define art for yourself and consider that no "idea" is completely origninal.

Now, that isn't to say that it isn't totally possible to "steal" work from someone. I think it mostly comes down to respect. If you respect the art you are sampling, you are going to do right by it. If you don't respect it, then that is where anyone has the right to be mad. If you claim something as your own then that is stealing. That isn't what Lupe did. Anyway, there is my two cents.

@mattmanlooloo Speaking from experience, most, if not all art, cannot claim 100% originality. Brush strokes can be emulated, styles can be copied, themes can be ripped. Lots of ideas can be taken from other people. So what if someone copied a technique or, in this case, a riff from another song. I love a good remix as long as the original artists are cool with it. If your definition of art is limited to something that is 100% original, either your scope is incredibly small or you're just lying.
