Positive Magazine test drives the 2011 Ford Fusion Flex Fuel

This fusion has an ambient temp readout. I thought the SEL only came with this. What model was this?

This IS the 2011. The 2011's instrument cluster is the same as 2010.

this is not a 2011. the instrument cluster is different this year.

Transmission Problems Ford and Mazda will not correct . Ford Escape, Fusion, Taurus, Explorer, F150, and all MazdasTransmissions are Junk. Theyt Jerks fluid turns dark after 10,000 miles. Ford had this problems ever since they moved to adaptive 4, 5, 6 speed transmission. They don't care. I will not buy a Ford or Mazda until they fix this problem. Please stay away from Mazda thats the root of the problem. Ford and Mazda designed transmission together. The jerk happens from 2nd to 3rd gear.

Are you making this comment from experience as a Fusion owner, or is it heresay? I'm seriously thinking about purchasing a new Fusion with a manual transmission. Is there anything aside from their automatic transmission you'd like to give an honest oppinion on?

@gop4usa12 yes stay away from the automatics they have valve body issues that fry the transmissions . i don't know if there are manuals yet but im sure there better. other than that great car.

Thanks for the tip. And yes, the Fusion does come available with 6 speed standard trannies. They're hard to find and only available with the four cylinder engine. There's supposed to be one at my local dealer waiting for me, but I'm 2500 miles away. I can't wait to get home so I can test drive it.

@gop4usa12 U have to make ur decision. Read Yahoo Autos or type into google or visit the national highway safety website and look at the complaints. I like Ford Vehicle but not when they do not take responsibility for thier defective vehicles. Once Ur Transmission is replaced, the resale value drops like a rock. CarFax-- Good luck. P.S. Not giving Honda or Toyota a free pass. They are corrupt 2 and have major problems such as (Warp Brake Rotors just to name a problem. I say do ur research.

I am doing my research. Checking thru youtube comments is part of it. And I am receiving some good pointers here as well. I hadn't thought about the NHWSA website till you just brought it up, so I'll be going there. If the Fusion's auto trans is it's only problem, no sweat. I plan on buying one that's equipped with a standard 6 speed. Though I'm a Ford man, I realize Ford has put out some crappy cars too. '90 T-bird, horrible. '72 F-250, excellent.

@jsmithprivatedancer The automatic issue is with the 6speed auto and 4cyl. only. Not the 6speed 6cyl. They both have different transmissions. The 6speed on the 6cyl. is from Mazda. The one on the 4cyl. is from Ford and GM. My mom has a 2010 Fusion sel 4cyl. auto. It shifts hard from 1st to 2nd. and the fluid is greyish/purple. She had something replaced, but it hasn't fixed it.

Nice car! Ford just keeps getting better and better. The sound systems in them are outstanding! The technology incredable.
