  • I remember playing this game, and the hero was covered up in a suit like the jap version. The version I played was EU version.

  • I had the "Raf World" game, but the ironic is it was called Jorney to Silius. I tought the sprite were the original one back then until years later when I played it again on emulator to discover it actually is an human originally.

  • Sunsoft made some really good yet underrated games for the NES.

  • This isn't really among the best NES shooters but darn if those aren't some of the badassest videogamne songs I've ever seen

  • I never understood why Sunsoft lost the license to mak JTS/RW but those abomination of a Terminator 1 and 2 games were allowed to be released.

  • Our sprite looks better. He's a boy out for revenge. He seems more relatable this way.

  • The Japanese sprite reminds of the Doom Marine in blue. '.'

  • The Raf World version of Jay McCray looks more original. His Journey to Silius look resembles Luke Skywalker in his "I'm Luke Skywalker. I'm here to rescue you." StormTrooper suit.

Sunsoft of America also changed Hebe and O-Chan into Bop-Louie and Freeon-Leon in Ufouria: The Saga, the PAL version of Hebereke. They also changed Kane Gardner into Jason in Blaster Master, the international version of Meta Fight.

  • Such great music

  • i'm european....why i have the intro "journey to silius" with the character like "raf world"?? hybrid cartiridge maybe??

  • @dave83fromhell Replying to a really old post here, but oh well...

No, you don't have a hybrid cartridge. They reverted back to the original sprite with that version. In my opinion, that was a good choice.

  • I prefer the Journey to Silius sprite more, myself. The character in Raf World just kinda looks like a generic soldier, which seems kinda boring to me.

  • @ChaosOmegaOWA I disagree. By all means they're both generic, but the RAF world character at least looks "mature" and somewhat serious. On the other hand, the Journey to Silius sprite looks like a bobble head luke skywalker wearing a 1950's sci-fi space suit, blech. The main character sprite is the main reason I don't like playing the US Journey to Silius.

  • @neogeon I dunno, I stopped taking the 'space marine' look seriously long ago, so maybe it's just me. It probably helps that I grew up seeing the JtS one.

  • Just discovered this game the other day and it's history is facinating. Maybe it's because I saw the Silius version first, but the Raf world guy looks out of place kinda. Maybe it's cuz the character is wearing white armor and it matches the enemies, IDK. But cool game.

  • the best terminator game ever

  • Fallout 3 is a close second though.

  • maybe

  • Although Bethesda themselves made pretty good Terminator FPSs

  • Anyone else think the Famicom title screen loks cool as hell?

  • Sunsoft divisions outside of Japan were about as pathetic as Vic Tokai and Jaleco divisions outside of Japan. They change some of the best parts of some games and make them worse. Jay McCray in the US version of Journey to Silius looks like Luke Skywalker in a Storm Trooper suit without a helmet, while in the European version and Raf World, he looks like a tough guy wearing a powerful suit.

  • This was a cool game, but tough as nails to beat. SunSoft made some awesome games back in the day?). They crafted awesome music with best of what Konami could; Blaster Master, Batman, Gremlins 2, Fester's Quest. I heard that this game was suppose to be a sequel to SunSoft's (very cool) Batman game on the NES. They had to change the name, plot and concept of the game, and get rid of the Batman license due to the game being released at the same time as the 2nd movie. Has any one else heard this?

  • Actually, i believe it was meant to be the first terminator in game form, but the license was taken away because the second was coming out. There are Terminator-esque nods in the game.

  • "Get to the choppa!!!!"

  • I live in Europe, and had this game as a kid. It was named "Journey to Silius", I remember very clearly, and it used the Raf World sprite. Just throwing this out there.

  • you know whats weird in europe we have the nes but we have no journy to silius we have raf world (by the way in the raf world he looks a bit like the master chief hehe)

  • Este es un gran juego, sus graficas y principalmente el sonido por el momento te olvidas que sea un sistema de 8 bits... Excelente banda sonora!

  • I like the Journey to Silius sprite better. The Raf World sprite resembles Mega Man too much.

  • The Raf World sprite looks more like a tokusatsu or metal heroes character, while the Journey to Silius sprite looks more like Luke Skywalker in a Storm Trooper suit without a helmet, like he did when he was saving Leia. You like the JtS look more, because you grew up with it. It's like your parent, while the other one is like a stranger or a new guardian.

  • Yeah, I figured the JTS sprite looks like a Star Wars character. But, I didn't grow up with any version of the game. I started playing JTS just a couple years ago, and tried RW last year. Not too far apart, and I just happen to prefer the JTS sprite a bit more.

  • For what reason?

  • Looks cooler to me. Anyway, I don't think it matters. I'm entitled to my own opinion like everyone else.

  • Dont see why they switched the player sprite but the original name of the game was horrible so im glad they changed that.

  • I own the game and I still play it on my SNES to this day (Journey to Silius), I still feel this sprite appeals to me far more due to the story. (I liked it, sue me). This child's father died trying to relieve the overpopulation crisis on Earth with a habitable space station but his plan was sabotaged by terrorists in an explosion. Seeming like the child has no real reason to 'be' and was obviously devastated, as soon as he read about a way to avenge his fathers death, he set out on a journey.

  • I'm sure he meant NES.

  • this game is epic !

  • Wow, I remember Raf World. I played it from one of those 64 in 1 NES game cartridges I rented countless times from a convenience store. No one I knew never heard of this game until I found out it was known as Journey to Silius here in North America.

  • supongo que por cariño, tal vez me guste más la versión américana!

    :P

el sprite, deacuerdo... pero la pantalla de presentacion, ni de coña, mucho mejor la de journey to silius

  • RAF WORLD WINS!

  • I like the Raf World sprite more, it has a more realistic/adult look versus the cheesy "MC Kids" looking sprite in Journey to Silius US. Oh well, I'm still gonna buy it anyway, its awesome

  • Jay in Journey to Silius looks like Luke Skywalker either in his first outfit in Star Wars: A New Hope, or while wearing a Storm Trooper suit without a helmet.

  • The European version of the game have the Japaneese sprites. In case some of you got confused :S

  • I just wanted to say that.. I have the EU game and it has JPN sprites :)

    Looks better heh

  • "Kyle Reese"?

    Don't you mean John Conner?

  • Fucking hell, haven't you seen the first Terminator movie?

  • Wow, i'm from Italy, i had ( and i have!!!) this game, and the sprite is like the one from Raf world, although the game still names itself "Journey to silius"...it was a good game..i played it some days ago....brings good memories....

  • Journey to Silius wins !

  • Thanks for this. When I was a kid I had this game, but when I later played it the character in it didn't seem to be anything like I remembered. I just thought my memory was WAY off, but this proves I wasn't imagining things :)

  • The game play is silius was so much better lol.

But i have to tell ya, i have never see some one get hit so meny times in level 1.

  • Wow, seems like your better at the Japanese version. Yay

  • A Terminator game? THIS?

    Hard to believe.

  • yeah, a Terminator game, the early prototype in Nintendo Power (or was it EGM) showed a picture of John Conner in a level alot like Stage 1 in this game.

  • Actually, the game was supposed to be based on Terminator 1 so it was Kyle Reese.

  • I see... someone has pictures or a scan from this magazine?

  • ...it was late when I wrote it. I got my names mixed up :P

  • wassnt this game origenaly going to be a Terminator game?

  • Sunsoft make great music.

  • I own this game and another thing that I don't like about this game is that you can't shoot up and sideways like Contra.

  • The JP sprite is definitely better. The sprite from the U.S. version looks like a douche.

  • The sprite in the U.S. version looks more like Luke Skywalker.
