Sorry to say but I got nothing out of it. You need to have audio to this video and explain EXACTLY what you are doing. Clinton Anderson explains step by step on how to do this, but you don't even have any audio to the video so how can anyone learn anything from you!
And yes, your horse is EXTREMELY stiff...I agree with HORSELOVE59 and TayTaySmileyHorse...Next time you upload, make sure you have AUDIO and EXPLAIN what you are doing...
@DieHardThunderhead96 You should be able to SEE what this gal is trying to show you, it seems pretty straight forward even with No Sound.... I think it was a pretty good demo. Sound would have helped But, was it really necessary?
Also...........Sandy was voted one of the top 50 riders in the nation by Horse & Rider magazine and is the author of the book Reining Essentials. Al Dunning calls her a gifted and excellent trainer.
I dont really think you know what you're doing considering your horse is sore...I mean sure every horse gets sore but thats not the day to have him diong flying changes and certainly not the day to post a video of him.
Try working on your horse's balance in canter before you try flying changes. Canter circles in outside flexion, and then inside flexion on both leads. This should help improve it's balance before moving on to flying changes. It might take a few weeks or months depending on your horse.
@AmmieeXO You're asking too hard.... this gal was trying to show us that we need to have quiet shoulder, rib and hip control through two-tracking and reverse arcing and then the flying change will follow... Don't ask for it until you are 100% solid in all of the exercises she was showing.. Sound or No Sound...
this is beautiful! i also am having trouble with my horse. She is great in her canter, but whenever i ask her for a lead change, she either ignores me or comes back to a trot. It honestly doesn't matter what I do. I've tried figure 8's, using stronger aids, but that just doesn't even faze her and when she doesn't change, she's off balance on the wrong lead. Do you have any suggestions?
you make it look so easy and fun!! :o This is going to sound so silly, I know how to get a trained horse how to do all of these moves, BUT a counter canter! The horses I ride always just go on the 'correct' lead. What are the signals for a counter canter?
@Justasam all I have to do is ask my horse the opposite way I would aske for the correct lead, example, i ask for his inside lead, put my outside leg back and swqueeeze, with his head to the outside, I just ask the opposite way of that, he's only 6 so he's only been trained to pick up the lead I ask for
@Justasam well counter canter is easiest to do if you start on the correct lead and then do a figure 8 so you going the other way. but just don't ask for the lead change. If the horse automatically does the lead change keep going do figure 8 again the next round so you doing counter canter again continue till the horse does a full circle and then on your way around figure 8 to bring horse back on the correct lead and stop them (release). They shouldn't do lead changes until you ask.
@Justasam no problem your horse should pick up what ever lead you ask him to if you walking/trotting in a circle to the right with training your horse should pick up the left lead if you ask it to. It's not natural for them so it does have to be taught. But hey it's always fun teaching horses new things.
So is two tracking another term for half passes?
