Remember that its not only creating about 5 dishes a battle, they have to make a plate for the chairman and the guests for each dish. So in total it's alot more than it looks.

I read somewhere that this challenger (wakiya) became the new iron chef chinese in one of the last specials. He also showed up on the Chinese team for the 2000th dish battle.
