  • Have to say, that's pretty impressive.

  • How amazing would it be, if every man who knows and sang this song was voicematched an all put in an male choir. that would be beastly

  • One of the best performances on YouTube! Thanks for uploading.

  • This is such a great song! I'm singing it as a soloist. Is this the original key?

  • Thanks for posting this dude! i'm doin this song for solofest and this has helped sing it better!

  • Thanks man! I'm glad my performance has helped you. Best of luck in Solofest!

  • @DavidMcCoul thanks to this i got a 98 out of 100! thanks a million!!!!

  • This was wonderful!

  • Gosh, this takes me back. "Bright is the Ring" was the first art song I ever learned and sang, as a junior in high school MANY, MANY years ago. Not a particularly easy piece, either, given its range and dynamic shifts -- and you sing it beautifully. Bravo:) -

  • Thank you! I'm glad I could take you on a trip back down memory lane

  • Hi kahkey,

You are right that memorization of the music is certainly one way to allow a performer to freely express himself. When I started lessons at the university five years ago, my freshman teacher would say "the eyes sing flat," and he was right. What is ironic about the entire thing is I already had this song memorized. However, there were two other songs in the set that I did not want to risk making an error in. So for the sake of consistency, I used the book for the entire Williams set.

  • I hesitate to criticize at all, because that was technically very well done indeed. But -- I think you'll express the text more effectively when you're old enough to feel your mortality with greater immediacy.

  • Thank you for your comment. I agree that as with all songs with an age-appropriate performer, age is the only thing that will make my rendition of such a song be expressed with a more genuine emotion. And while technique may be improved at any age, emotional dedication to a piece will only come from years of performing the work, something I do not yet have. So I don't think you've offered a criticism, more simply an observation on a truth that all performers must face.

  • such a fine song

    you sing it very well

  • Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the performance.
