Guys, I think the reason why this sounds subpar compared to his other performances is that his mic or whatever was a little off ... or broken. Just a technical problem. :) And this is his 3rd time auditioning for a part (or 2nd) so the directors already have an idea of how he sings. It's just a matter of finding the right character for him. :D ♥♥♥

The very beginning wasn't very good (I don't think he should've used his lower register for that part), but then right after that when he started strumming on the guitar, it was pretty great and just so DARREN. People shouldn't judge his talent on just this video alone. Listen to the acoustic/piano version that he does for Teenage Dream or any of his original songs (especially Not Alone), THEN you can really judge for yourself. :)

wow... he's really not the best singer in the world, is he? I still like him as an actor, but yeah... he is not really a singer... It is hard to tell sometimes on Glee cause they autotune everyone, including trained singers, so much that even good singers like Lea Michelle and Jonathan Groff sound bad...
