  • Jim Leonard built the most accurate replica bikes. I met Jim at an antique car show in the 1990s. He told me it was a task to locate the period-perfect components for both Captain America and the Billy Bike.

  • Peter Fonda said that the original was a "bitch" to ride

  • @1339LARS Yep. On his initial ride, Peter Fonda took his time piloting that machine down some of the canyon roads near LA. Cops took notice of his bike and attire, as well.

  • Lame. Get rid of those disc brakes and front fender and maybe it'll be worth a glance.

  • where is the allen museum?

  • @roaringwaterbay There is a museum in Anamosa, Iowa that has a Captain

America bike. I saw it five years ago when the HOG club took a ride over there. Maybe I should say, HAD it five years ago. They might have sold or traded it but I doubt that. It had a certificate signed by the bike builder and by Peter Fonda.

The IMDB site has the info at the bottom of the page

    imdb(dot)com /title/tt0064276/trivia

  • I remember watching top gear once, and there was a same America replica bike...:PGood looking bikes anyway

  • @Mufasa503 top gear you serious.

  • TO be honest , is sad , even the crank case is not the same, the original have 9 fins , carb air cleaner cover also is diferent, colour of the petrol tank is not the same , , just to do that ...that sad amateur job , u can out a yamaha engine , and u can tell is also a version of cap. america....

get rid of that shit and buid something serious man !!

  • @chopper3a Hydraulic clutch as well, so no mouse trap. Doesn't look like a pressed steel primary cover to me, either, looks as though it may have provision for an electric starter.

  • 40hrs paint job? that sucks

  • The Capt. America bike in the museum at OHIO has papers that claim to be signed by the original builder to the effect he rebuilt the bike and Peter Fonda verifying it to be true. I was there, I saw it. But now how do we be sure the papers are authentic?

Quick, someone call Peter Fonda on his cell!!!!!!!

  • what a beautifull replica, i sure wouldnt have the heart to sell it man.

  • @fattossa

I could NEVER sell this bike. All these hours of work for nothing? No thanks!

  • i heard grizzly adams has the remaining original

  • Thus, Grizzly Adams is...A FAG

  • Perter fonda has said that the only one remaining is the one in the museum

  • FAGS

  • I"ve heard conflicting reports. I have heard that they rebulit the bike they crashed in the movie and it's in a museum

  • There is no original . Of the 2 of each from the movie , 1 each was destroyed and 1 each disappeared.

  • One bike was destroyed in the movie and the other was stolen and stripped.

  • it;s a urban myth Peter knows that.too..

  • not true the one that burned was rebuilt in 1999 put in a museum. cant remember which one through.....

    tj

  • There is one in a private collection at a resort museum with classic cars. In Pa about 35 miles or so south of Pittsburgh on rt 40 if you want to see it. A billionare owns the bike. I do not know if its real or a replica but it sure looks like the real deal to me.

  • @WarrensWarriors it's the 1 that burned in the film. deffo..

    terry

  • @WarrensWarriors it's the burned 1 rebuilt 1999..

    Pete

GOOD!! FROM JAPAN

  • Disk Brake ?

  • he also has a front fender on it.....you can pick it apart, but its still a pretty good looking machine. At least it does have a panhead in there

  • Some states require a front fender, which might be why he put on on it.

  • Right on Brother Nice ride, almost as nice as my 1968 FLH doughsickle. Ride Safe doughboy

  • The original did not have a front brake. So this is a poor imposter.

  • I'll bet most of you didn't know that the original Cap't Amer. bike used in the Easyrider movie was built by a black man in the 60's.

    History Lesson for you.

  • yes and Grizzly adams.Tex Hall too.

    PF

  • the front tire extension is extended more on the original bike. it was not designed for function. it was almost human.

  • It´s my dream bike.

  • great bike whats the name of the song please

  • niiicccceeee

  • nice

  • where can i get these in germany??? i want one so bad

  • Well theres only about 700 official replicas made.. Theres one at e-bay for 16.000 USD... aka 12.500 Euro

  • -.- to expensiv is there one for 12 €?^^

  • i though tthe price was great due to a new big twin can cost about 20.000

  • Why 1490 cc? Not sure on the specs on the movie bike, but Harley only made Panheads in 61 and 74 cubic inches, (1000 and 1200 cc). This one would be 91 cubic inches. Some weird version by Paughco? 88 and 93 inches are common stroker sizes, but 91 is odd.

  • i came.

  • MANNNNNN!!!!! You're amazing:)

    Polish rider:P

  • Actually if you google "Easy Rider Bikes Stolen" you will see that four bikes were built, one was burned during filming & the other 3 stolen before filming ended..so how can this be an original in the museum or was one recovered? Curious to know?

  • the bike was the burned one it was restored in 2001 by dan haggerty who

    help build the originals.

    tj

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, yeah, and the one in the museum was the one that burned. It was restored.

  • Interesting about the "original" in the Allen Museum because there is an interview with Peter Fonda where he says the original bikes were stolen before the film was completed? That is why the bikes don't appear in the final campfire scene.

  • you believe that !! i dont at all...

  • I saw that tear fall from the corner of your eye, when you took the final ride. I felt the pain bro. Soooo sad!!

  • At buffalo Harley on Bailey Ave, somewhere in North Tondawanda has a replica in the shop for repairs and it gets stored there for the winter. The owner of the bike is so ice that he'll let you ride it if you ask him.

  • its funny because the bike really doesnt suit the UK. It suits a place like Australia or America... When it comes to the roads, bikes and cars are completely different in the UK and europe, its just not the same...

  • More turns, less nice shraight roads and LOTS of nasty holes deep as mamooth trap. That´s europe and bikes like Jawa 50,s 250s, 350s, 500s or URALs are home there.

  • a guy where i live has a rebuild just like it. looks great. he even has the lambchops like peter.

  • what is the basis of the CA-bike?

  • where can i buy a kit

  • How could you ever sell a bike like that . thats every mans dream bike. Dam, but I got my dream v 45 so Im all set. that was sweeeet.

  • Why did you sell it?

  • ''exellent''

  • pretty nice rebuild. only real issues i see is the front fender, the front brakes, and the slightly different color blue on the tank. looks pretty sweet though!

  • It looks like you puts TONS of work into her... she looks like a million bucks! Nice looking scooter, bro...

  • What did it sell for may I ask?.. -Rob

  • hey bro , nice ride, check out one of my bikes on my profile page!! ride safe............

  • I customized my Dyna Wide Glide with 18-inch ape hangers and a 36-inch sissy bar to be similar to this but I would still like to have this bike.

  • Absolutely frickin' beautiful man.

  • Dude why did you sell this! What a beast!!

  • How economical was this bike to drive, if you for example compare it to a car?

And how much did it cost when you buyed it?

  • That is a beautiful bike! Nice work. Had to hurt to sell it, even if you cleared a bundle on the deal. Panheads 4ever!

  • Nice bike! Nicer engineers!
