I imagine there is a pretty stout drive train behind that six. Any special torque convertor or other internal mods? 8-3/4 rear? Factory style traction-lok or some type of locker? Traction aids? Super stock springs? Chassis mods? I'm planning to do somewhat of a similar build except it will be supercharged. I just want to get all the "supporting members" in place before I pull the trigger on the motor. Thanks for posting and sharing. Very inspirational. Keep up the good work.
i have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old GM Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
I had a completely stock 225 slantie in a 60 Dodge Dart \Phoenix 4-door, with over 120,000 miles on it, and you couldn't kill it--it just kept going! The way it ran some guys thought it was a V8. Surprised a few people!!
the slant six can take the abuse anything you can throw at it. The v8's can't. The little engine that could can do it. Keep on going faster and faster guys.
yea i forgot about the 170cid and i made a mistake 189 i meant 198 and the 4arrel was the hyper pack with the long runners the short runners are made by cane or redline and as per the factory 2 barrel just with a hole for a 4 barrel
@vcval Thankfully you remembered the 170, and got the 198 right. 225 everyone knows, but it was a 265ci 'Hemi" with the HyperPak 4bbl setup they had in Australia. Wish I'd had that on my '68 2dr post!
My grandfather used to mention (and I've confirmed this to be true), that there was an unreliable aluminum block for the Slant way back in 60-61ish. I'm sure with today's technology, they could make one. Too bad they won't
re the hemi 6 ..... the hemi is an inline upright 6 it origionaly was a rejected truck engine from mexico, chrysler australia tested it and made modifications ie the dizzy placment origionaly it was in the midol of the engine much like the slant , it was move closer to the rear .
215,245and 265 variants were available
single barrel, 2 barrel ,4barrel and tripple carbs versions were available . the standard 265 was 203hp the R/T version with the tripple webber carbs was 302 hp
to my knowlage the 4 barrel was only available on the Pacer and was raced by chrysler after race testing the 4bbl was droped as more power and econnomy came from the 2barrel , although it shares some apperiance with the hyper pack it was never know as such ( long intake runners) , kane and redline make reproduction versions in long or short runners
re the aluminuim versions yes they were made and there are 2 differnat types but this was a limited thing. lucky if you live in america as someone is reproducing them in low numbers
i just sold my 67 valiant sedan and this video makes me miss her more :( never got around to doing anything mayjor to the motor although i was planing to fit multi point injection
No way in hell a stock slant 6 could pull 370 RWHP, probably couldn't even do 170 RWHP. Description says with 23 PSI, so im going to assume its turbod.
Ok, here is what you need to do... quiet it down a bit, put a couple dents in it... then go hunt down some teenagers in their Honda ricers and whip them in an old Valiant with "one headlight"
what year is this? is it a 66?

dartman945 10 months ago
you guys planning on going faster than 10.74? Can the motor and the turbo hold up to going faster?
dartman945 10 months ago
@dartman945
It has gone 6.65 @107.80 in the 1/8th. Which would come to around 10.30's in the 1/4 doing the math. Real 1/4 mile #'s coming soon!!

woudnt it make more if that much boost is going thru a bigger engine ? say a small block but i like that idea of it being different...

@faisalabulaziz1
It would make more HP but I wanted a Slant 6 to run in the tens. Something alot of guys with their V8's aren't doing.
