2012 and the colours are still here, we even have that British racing green..which I just dig...and..I wanna see those colours on all FRN handled knives in Spyderco...how about that???
I love my Brown Delica 4 its my favorite edc and is razor sharp with the excellent VG-10 steel. The best part for me though is ~$47 shipped from ebay, cant beat it for the price.
Wow... I just got this Delica 4. I am very impressed by the overall construction and fit and finish. It has also been the sharpest out-of-box among my other knives thus far. I can't believe you can get all you do with this knife for ~$50.
Hey "bpcoxkr" The Skyline is an awesome knife, especially for the price point. My brother and I both have one. He carries his every day and that is the knife he uses 99% of the time. The appearance and the way it feels in your hand is all personal preference. But the one thing that isn't is steel quality. The knock on the Skyline is that it goes dull much faster then the Delica when you use them regularly. My brother has to sharpen his ALL the time. The Delica has higher quality steel
These new Delica and Endura 4's are awesome blades. The only small knock I will give them is I wish they had a bigger thumb hole. Both my Military and Stretch have the bigger hole and I find them much easier to deploy. Just a small knock that I can live with, but I do notice the difference when I go from one to the other
I just found my Brown Delica FFG that got lost about a year ago. I'm falling back in love with it. It gets sharper than I remember. After a year of being lost it's still rust free. Great knife. I hope Spyderco NEVER stops producing the FFG Delica because I want more of them.
I prefer larger blades than the Delica. However in my months of using it, Nutn is right- This knife is perfect. There's nothing it's missing and there's nothing it should lose. PERFECT edc. No perfect for self defense, but I don't think the aggressor would enjoy any razor sharp blade like this. Love this knife, watch this review if you want 14 minutes of why this knife is perfect.
I just got the gray delica and i think they reduced the jimping. it's no way as sharp as yours and somewhat dull, but still does the job nonetheless. the box says it was made in 2011 so it might be a new update from the first 9,000 made in 2010. just thought you guys might like to know!
I cam across your videos last night, I just want to say.. you're an asshole. I bought a KA BAR USMC last week, set me back $60. Then I come across this video and somehow end up ordering a Blue Delica 4 sometime last night. I hate you.
HA! For real man, I subscribed to your videos but I'm pretty sure my girlfriend is going to hate the fact I'm NEVER going to have anymore money. Keep up the great work man, love your channel from what I've seen of it.
i ran up to the grocery store for something and just took my revolver and when i got back my wife said, "wow hun, that black knife of yours really cuts good!!!" i was pissed, you never never touch my defensive tools!!!!
i'm not sold on the FFG. my aegis is FFG and its really weak. its super sharp and and it cuts like a katana but its not good for every day cutting. thats why i wear two knives. the aegis for self protection when i cant carry my smith and wesson and my mini griptillian D2 for general purpose cutting. case in point, went to the hospital to visit a friends new baby, had to leave the 1911 in the car so made sure the aegis was in the back pocket. i may still get one to see how it carries.
You guys that don't own one of these little gems yet need to get on the train. Awesome ergonomics, light and lithe (but secure) in the hand, and HUGE cutting power.
I was just doing some simple cutting tasks with my Delica 4 FFG after doing similar work with the Benchmade 556 Mini Griptilian (saber grind drop point), which is a fine kinfe.
This is my first EDC knife and I almost bought a S&W but after watching this and seeing the blade ect. It's worth the extra $20 I'd say. High quality ftw!
I just bought a purple one for my girlfriend. she can't put it down. she loves it. while i was at it i also ended up getting myself a resilience for myself and it has replaced my much more expensive combative edge m1 as my tactical folder. with the Cr0cket20 zip tie mod it comes out wicked fast. keep those reviews coming, but the more you do the more my money will be leaving my pocket.
I just ordered a green one for my birthday! :P Had to buy my own present, because my girlfriend doesn`t know what to get me. I get the money I paid tho so it`s cool. Can`t wait!
I totally understand the deal with black. Up here in Canada, it's completely up to the cops discretion whether or not a knife in the pocket is a concealed weapon.
As sad as it is, having a Delica in purple or blue is going to give you a better case than something in black or OD. Last thing I want to do is get on the subconcious bad side of someone that has the power to throw my ass in jail!
Personally I really like my FFG Delica. Got it in green!
@TheTobyKing I'd check out maybe the endura or some knives from cold steel, I know they have got some pretty heavy duty folders. I don't know about this one being right for the job but maybe the previous generation cause it's a bit thicker.
im lookin for a folder to use in the out-of-doors, it would be accompanied by a lightweight hatchet and a a sawvivor for woodwork so for the remaining tasks would this be good? if not, which other knife is good?
Just got a delica 4 FFG with the green handles from cutlery shoppe. Awesome everyday carry knife. Light weight, smallish, high quality, and sharp out of the box. I thought the green handles were a little goofy at first but they grew on me after a few minutes of handling. Now I love the green color too. Outstanding knife and outstanding value.
@DarkAssassinTy I can answer this one. NO! LOL it is such a pain in the butt to put back together and have it functioning correctly and they way you want it. Will take you 30-60 mins to put it back together and working the way you want it.
update from my last comment - was not joking about the sharpness warning. That pretty pink delica did some work on my thumb! - long live the butterfly bandage!
got one in limited pink for my girl - then had to get one in brown for myself! great knife - great edc - warning: very, very sharp out of the box - impressive!
@hondarider9494 Im not Nutn, but IMO if you are looking for an EDC blade with AMAZING utility grab a Delica. IF you are looking for something that is more of a light weight tactical blade get the Endura. I have both knives and carry them all the time. My primary EDC blade is the Delica 4 FFG just because it is sooo amazing.
I love how people criticize your preference for FFG even though you mention in numerous videos of yours that POU can differ from person to person. Not to mention you still give saber grind props in this video. This isn't a heavy duty knife guys, it's a edc used for everyday cuts. Get a Rajah II if you wanna hack at shit...
@slimnskinny No it's not the same thing. Plain edge means that there aren't serrations and ffg is the type of grind... ffg= full flat grind, which is contrary to a saber grind or hollow grind. I'll leave it up to you to find out which ones you like best. Good luck on your first knife!
hey buddy, glad you're doing the right thing and buying a blade! plain edge, if i'm not mistaken, means that there are no serrations on the knife blade, it's just a true razor edge. FFG, or full flat ground, means that the side of the blad, the broad side, is completely flush, one angle. nuttnfancy will do a comparison of the two if you just watch his videos on the delica. goodluck man, you won't regret the delica, endura or even the tenacious.
I just received my delica 4 today and after just a few open and closes I noticed the blade had developed some semi circular scratches on the blade near the pivot point. It seems like the blade is being scratched by the liners. Is anyone else getting this issue?
spyderco should make a handle/blade configuration look like their box. black or silver blade with a red and black handle and gold or polished brass hardware...thoughts?
nice knife. mine actually came very stiff out of the box so im hoping it will wear out a bit. its not even close to my persistence speed of opening. if anyone has same issue please let me know.
@dzld9 i tried that of course but thanks for reply. just the lockback itself was pretty stiff thats why it doesnt fly open as other blades i have. but i can feel it loosening up as time goes. and with custom wave opening its not even an issue. when i need the blade fast, its there ready to fly open...
My Delica 4 FFG in blue just came in today (ordered it after watching this video), and this is perhaps THE BEST daily carry blade I've used. Thanks so much for doing all these knife reviews, rock on.
@Chevenitsu its not an axis lock, and if you are new to knives, then congrats on your new delica, ive had mine for a while now, and its awesome. but practice your blade deployment before putting stuff into your blade.
I got mine from yourcornerstore, but I wish it was as fast as yours! Mine feels gritty when I open/close it. I can even hear things grinding in there. It almost sounds like there are burrs or sand in the joints.
i just got the brown delica4 wich is my first spiderco two,
it realy feels great in the hand, the color in real life and on video is off, in real life it looks even beter than on screen here, thanks for the great vids and advice you put out there
@THEBIRDMAN9412 I would rather save up 60 bucks for a sog trident or a spyderco endura then buy 6 crap knives, but some people dont care if they are using a crap knife.
Good review! Thanks you just saved me some money, like the knife but hate the distal taper style. Love Spydercos, prefer FFG but really really hate distal taper. Thats why i love video reviews you get to see the knife from multiple angles including the top down view which manufacturers never show in their product pictures. Lately i've been mostly buying Kershaw and ZTs but i do own 5 Spydercos, just no Delicas. I'm a modder so i'll probably just get a regular Delica and FFG it myself.
@iamtorcman Yeah, these FFG Delicas are intriguing but man, that tip is THIN. I'll stick to saber grind. However, I must admit that a friend has one and really likes it; great slicing ability.
I wish Spyderco offered the traditional, saber grind D4 in those cool colors! The only real alternative color in saber grind is the Foliage Green D4. It's an awesome knife that comes only in combo edge. I want a plain edge saber D4 in foliage green or other friendly "non-tactical" color for EDC.
Yo Nutnfancy, avid watcher of your vids here from London, UK. I've just ordered a Delica FFG in grey (slightly hard to find here) based on your reviews. Can't wait! Thanks a million for all the great videos.
I will never look at a purple pocket knife again without thinking about the "It's like Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. It's happiness in an EDC blade!" :D
just ordered one in grey from my corner store. cant wait for it to come. i wish they had a black bladed delica. . great website btw as long as the knife you want is in stock
i ordered a coyote brown one at yourcornerstore for 48.37$ compared to amazon for 57.76$. i thought amazon was going to have a better deal :( i dont know that website hopefully they dont mes with it before i get it.... anyways this will be my second one, since my blue one fell of the boat while fishing.
ever since i got this blade back in early june,i have absolutely loved it...been working hard on it,going on outings 2 the beach(not in the saltwater mind u heheheh),de-limbing trees for fire prep...and i still haven't resharpened it since i got it,despite that it is still quite sharp and i absolutely love it...thank u so much nutn for everything and u 2 Veri, keep it rockin
I recently got a kershaw zing as a gift from a friend, & it got me hooked on higher quality knifes. Now that I'm an addict I just purchased the ffg delica in blue. Thanks for the video, helped me out & made my buying the blade alot easier
So far I have the gray and brown scaled versions of the Delica4, same with the Endura4. I think that the brown scaled version is by far the coolest looking so far. Looking forward too completing the collection.
I am a long time nutnfancy viewer. I finally got an a/c so I can sub and comment. Based on your vids I ordered two of these. They arrived today, one grey and one blue (just love the blue, looks so cool). These are also my first Spyderco knives, but I can tell you they won't be the last. Everything you said is spot on.This is the sharpest knife I've ever had "out of the box". Awesome quality, compact, light-weight, and tight lockup. Love them. Thanks, and please keep the knife reviews coming.
got this exact blade , in grey, thanks to nut'n and his awesome review...best EDC blade i think ive ever owned, im in the market for another blade, any suggestions ? , your favorite blade maybe ? anybody ! im a knife n00bie !
@DtotheJ1234 Depends on your preferences but I also have the Benchmade 527. I cannot say enough good things about it. Nutn has recently done a review, check it out.
Got my Delica 4 FFG with the gray scales last week. It's a descent little knife for a lockback. Being my first lockback I was skeptical at first ,but the lockback is actually pretty nice. I like the texture of the FRN scales, and the VG-10 blade is sharp as all get out. Thanks for the great review Nutn.
My purple & brown Delica 4 FFGs came with the blades locked down REALLY tight. I've been working them over, added Rem Oil, etc, but I think I'll have to loosen up the pivot screw. Do they always come that way?
@jedimasterruss I just bought the Delica 4, saber grind, in ZDP-189, and I noticed the same thing--it seemed very tight, much much tighter than my Griptilian. But I noticed that if I squeeze the lock really hard, the blade almost swings free, which means the lock is what's doing it, and loosening the pivot screw won't help.
@jedimasterruss What bothers me more, though, is that the opening is rough and uneven. I can hear it grinding if I put my ear next to it. I can see scratches on the blade pivot which would account for the unevenness. Have you found the same thing?
I bought this knife thanks to this video, just received it today and holy crap this knife is NICE. It comes out of the box very sharp, the blade is clean and smooth, scales are nice, jimping works lol, and the brown colour is awesome. Nutn was right, money well spent!! Thanks for the recommendation brother.
Hey nutn, I got my purple delica FFG the other week and its freakin awesome, but theres a tiny piece of metal stickin out in the spyderhole thats sharp and irritating, anything you would suggest to use to grind it down? thanks
I'm so happy I got my Delica 4 G10 with the full flat grind. But the lighter wieght (and lighter price) will probably force me to buy one of these FFGs as well. CURSE YOUR AWESOME REVIEWS NUTN!!! Killing my bank acct.
are these knives assisted opening?

nice knife. mine actually came very stiff out of the box so im hoping it will wear out a bit. its not even close to my persistence speed of opening. if anyone has same issue please let me know.
gavkoo 1 year ago
@gavkoo I believe you can mess with the pivot screw and back it out just a tad to loosen it up a bit.
dzld9 1 year ago
@dzld9 i tried that of course but thanks for reply. just the lockback itself was pretty stiff thats why it doesnt fly open as other blades i have. but i can feel it loosening up as time goes. and with custom wave opening its not even an issue. when i need the blade fast, its there ready to fly open...

I have the green and blue. I may just get the whole set.

Great review. I just bought a Delica 4. I love it.

My Delica 4 FFG in blue just came in today (ordered it after watching this video), and this is perhaps THE BEST daily carry blade I've used. Thanks so much for doing all these knife reviews, rock on.

I just received my FFG Delica 4 today. I am new at knives, but the deployments seems a bit stiff; even with WD40 through the axis lock.
Chevenitsu 1 year ago
@Chevenitsu its not an axis lock, and if you are new to knives, then congrats on your new delica, ive had mine for a while now, and its awesome. but practice your blade deployment before putting stuff into your blade.
TheOnlySilentSoundz 1 year ago
is it available in black? i love my Half serrated delica looking to maybe buying the FFG and could not find a black version.

I got mine from yourcornerstore, but I wish it was as fast as yours! Mine feels gritty when I open/close it. I can even hear things grinding in there. It almost sounds like there are burrs or sand in the joints.
coolgeekish 1 year ago
@coolgeekish Their price is OK, MOST items are always seems to be in back order tho .. Try place like RockyNational or Knife Works.

Kylef7735 1 year ago
honestly, id be scared the flat grind would bend... sabergrind for me dude.
just my preference though
THEBIRDMAN9412 1 year ago 2
@THEBIRDMAN9412 Its not going to bend. The pivot point will fail before the blade does.
Kylef7735 1 year ago
@Kylef7735 perhaps. you probably know more about knives than me though hahaha.
all these brand names are way to expensive for me anyway
THEBIRDMAN9412 1 year ago
@THEBIRDMAN9412 I would rather save up 60 bucks for a sog trident or a spyderco endura then buy 6 crap knives, but some people dont care if they are using a crap knife.
Kylef7735 1 year ago
If they could get you to colab. on a blade Id pick it up you have very good standards on your blades and I love your reviews.
ChokeYouu 1 year ago
Good review! Thanks you just saved me some money, like the knife but hate the distal taper style. Love Spydercos, prefer FFG but really really hate distal taper. Thats why i love video reviews you get to see the knife from multiple angles including the top down view which manufacturers never show in their product pictures. Lately i've been mostly buying Kershaw and ZTs but i do own 5 Spydercos, just no Delicas. I'm a modder so i'll probably just get a regular Delica and FFG it myself.
iamtorcman 1 year ago
@iamtorcman Yeah, these FFG Delicas are intriguing but man, that tip is THIN. I'll stick to saber grind. However, I must admit that a friend has one and really likes it; great slicing ability.
I wish Spyderco offered the traditional, saber grind D4 in those cool colors! The only real alternative color in saber grind is the Foliage Green D4. It's an awesome knife that comes only in combo edge. I want a plain edge saber D4 in foliage green or other friendly "non-tactical" color for EDC.

I recently got a kershaw zing as a gift from a friend, & it got me hooked on higher quality knifes. Now that I'm an addict I just purchased the ffg delica in blue. Thanks for the video, helped me out & made my buying the blade alot easier
Biggerrigger30 1 year ago

AussieMark909 1 year ago
Thanks for the great review nutnfancy. I purchased the ffg b/c of this review and am very pleased with it.

PatrioticSlaughter 1 year ago
My purple & brown Delica 4 FFGs came with the blades locked down REALLY tight. I've been working them over, added Rem Oil, etc, but I think I'll have to loosen up the pivot screw. Do they always come that way?
jedimasterruss 1 year ago
@jedimasterruss I just bought the Delica 4, saber grind, in ZDP-189, and I noticed the same thing--it seemed very tight, much much tighter than my Griptilian. But I noticed that if I squeeze the lock really hard, the blade almost swings free, which means the lock is what's doing it, and loosening the pivot screw won't help.
gorpkaiser 1 year ago
@jedimasterruss What bothers me more, though, is that the opening is rough and uneven. I can hear it grinding if I put my ear next to it. I can see scratches on the blade pivot which would account for the unevenness. Have you found the same thing?
gorpkaiser 1 year ago
I bought this knife thanks to this video, just received it today and holy crap this knife is NICE. It comes out of the box very sharp, the blade is clean and smooth, scales are nice, jimping works lol, and the brown colour is awesome. Nutn was right, money well spent!! Thanks for the recommendation brother.
savannafc 1 year ago
Hey nutn, I got my purple delica FFG the other week and its freakin awesome, but theres a tiny piece of metal stickin out in the spyderhole thats sharp and irritating, anything you would suggest to use to grind it down? thanks
ManVsWildfan 1 year ago
@ManVsWildfan Fine grit sand paper. I had the same thing, worked like a charm.

Recently got mine from YCS in green. More color choices would be awesome. I like the lime green from the Jester!
Xinobi87 1 year ago
FFG E4/D4 blades are 2.5mm, Saber-ground versions are 3mm thick. That helps a bit too (cento3 is 2mm).
snaggles2000 1 year ago
@snaggles2000 Actually the E4 FFG is 3mm, but the D4 FFG is 2.5 like you stated. The blades just taper faster to the tip than the saber's.
Cventures 1 year ago
I'm so happy I got my Delica 4 G10 with the full flat grind. But the lighter wieght (and lighter price) will probably force me to buy one of these FFGs as well. CURSE YOUR AWESOME REVIEWS NUTN!!! Killing my bank acct.
