I agree, no saving throw allowed. He just died, period! If he was hit with a spell, weapon, or trap, then yes, he should get a saving throw. But since the DM just said you died, then he just dies. End of story.

"kender" was origionally spelled "kinder" but it was pointed out that it looked like someone was saying "to be more kind" rather than a race
