Most unfortunately, drumming society doesn't recognize and appreciate Will enough. It is a big loss for all of them and all of us. This guy brought a new dimension to Jazz drumming, both technical and feeling wise.
For example, just listen to those guys and check your trainings after that; Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Will Kennedy, Omar Hakim and Steve Gadd. These guys "BROUGHT" something new. You won't miss anything except them.
Certainly part of the drumming society recognized him enough, that he won Modern Drummer reader's poll "Best Drummer (elec. jazz category)" back-to-back-to-back ;)
Society simply doesn't recognize/appreciate Jazz itself, period.
And why oh why did Will leave the Yellow Jackets?! ( o _ 0 ) Marcus Baylor is an excellent replacement for Will but man! I wish Will was still paying with the YJ's! This guy is a complete beast on the drums! ( ^ _ ^ )
