What if a rogue were to arm one of these drones with a nuke and then turn the drone around, thus sending it toward U.S./Allied interests? Theoretically, a subversive operative could defeat the onboard ECM (Electronic Counter-Measures) and evade U.S. Intelligence, leading America and her Allies to believe that the drone is heading in the right direction, whilst it would be hypothetically vectoring in the opposite direction... alas hijacked and then re-armed w/ nuclear weapon. That would suck ...
@Tanarune, Yes dude... No kidding. I can't bloody believe they were that dumb?
@ Revelation47, Ouch... harsh. You act as if you, we, U.S. have a choice in the matter. Don't be so naive, it's always been a battle of resources.
@CinemaxProductions, Oh that's easy. You see this region of the world isn't playing ball with U.S. (no pun intended). Other places that need our help a lot more are coincidentally boarder us (Mexico) does play ball. Thus, we're not blowing them up :)
i wonder if their sat. setup would support "video injection" / packet injection? That would have really screwed things up by injecting different video (non-real time) during a mission... scary if you think about it.
@Revelation47 people like you are so ignorant, Al Quida kills more families then we did, AND THEY STILL DO! IT'S ALL OVER THE NEWS! If you speak for America down there in that craphole of countries they WILL kill you, and we build better and more accurate weapons so that doesn;t happen on our part, we can;t help that Al Quida are pussies and use children as bombs and a whole town as a shield, you obviously don;t know the war we fight very well do you?
@CinemiexProductions Of coarse, America is always good and Al Quida is always bad. America is the ignorant one, not Revelation47. Why does America waste an entire decade in a doomed region? Children's lives in America have been dominated by the useless and expensive war. A child could have known of 9/11 when they were in middle school and now they would be in college still having their country involved in this arrogant conflict. Not enough change has arrived in the middle east, waste of assets.
@CinemiexProductions Wow... do you know that when we, AMERICA, entered Iraq, we killed more people than Saddam Hussein did...ever in his life time!? America is dying from the fucking inside. We always go into other peoples business. Now I guess that we've "won the war in Iraq", we should go attack Russia or China. Funny thing is, I'm American and I cannot believe how fucking ignorant are. You are one of those tools who believes everything on the news. Guess what, media ALWAYS FUCKING LIES...
@WalkingArmory I think you confuse "people" with "Radicals in religious fanatical groups previously trained by the CIA and armed by Russian military surplus who say on their own websites they will destroy America and kill all who do not bow to Allah". You mean those poor, innocent people? Get back to your silly college protest group, pretend to be worth something.
@Revelation47 Yeah, simplify it with an arrogant lie.
Read on the terrorists' own websites how they want to kill every one of us that wont bow to Allah (translate arabic Al Jazeera, not the propagandized English version), and how they brag about being the AGGRESSORS, not the DEFENDERS, and how they rejoice in killing American civilians, then come back and argue. Until then, keep your smartassed mouth shut.
how stupid were they for not encrypting their stream? what did they think, hey let's make a biljon dollar robot for spying but let us not encrypt the data being broadcasted. *facepalm*
Read news right from the DoD website before you open your mouth. ANY encrypted stream can be broken if enough data is intercepted and processed with a good GPU ($5k setup), its the same as having physical access to a computer. It also has NEVER done anything negative to missions, save for POSSIBLY eliminating element of surprise. The ONLY issue the DoD is dealing with is a keylogger that was PHYSICALLY attached to their frame over there.
The unencrypted video stream was exposed long ago, and fixed long ago. so this software is still nice and all, but your not going to see any raptor video feeds.
Just goes to show how stupid the Americans are. They got rid of the Soviet Union, and turned Russia into a free market zone. In the old days of the USSR this software would not have been allowed onto the free market for anyone to buy for a lousy $ 26. It would have been deemed as secret. On the other hand as this software was developed by a private company in Russia it might not have seen the light of day in the old USSR. No one can win in Afghanistan, US & UK get out while you still can.
you must be so stupid, do you really think the country with the biggest defence budget in the world, "forgot" to encrypt the feed. If it wasn't encrypted, they chose it not to be.
they intercepted it because the images and feed information details were not encrypted. this is fair enough because these are used to warn others about possible threats and to make small strikes. if the information was encrypted this feed would be a lot slower, because once it is received it must go through the decrypting process. this delay could cause large problems, which is why the feed is not encrypted
the software was on the laptops and there is no physical proof that the iraqis were using this program, but if they had any sense at all, they would have used it from the start. wouldnt you?
Hahaha, no. That is still merely an assumption. Let's say someone had a pencil and was the prime suspect in a murder case. Just because they had the pencil, they assumed he murdered the victim. At least, according to your logic.
It is entirely possible that they could have been using it for other purposes. Just because something is capable of doing something, doesn't mean it was used for that purpose.
well sorry for misreading. no need to get on your menstrual cycle and run my ass over. if they iraqis had any sense they would use it. so saying that they wouldn't is naive

@Tanarune
They were thinking that they wanted ground troops to be able to access the feeds from the drones above them in battle.
Encypting the stream makes this more difficult. From whati understand the control strea mis encrypted however the video feed is not.

Nope. Don't spread inaccurate information. There is no evidence that Iraqi terrorists are using this to intercept Predator's video feed.
It was found on their laptops but there is no evidence that it was used. That's merely an assumption.
Don't mislead other Youtube users.

That doesn't go without saying that it is likely that they used it. All I'm saying is that he shouldn't spread false information.
