  • Emilie autumns music got me into doing music tech at college! (We had to study an artist and write about their music. They hadnt heard of her, and her music is greatly unique!

  • I should show my orchestra teacher this song-- maybe she'd let us try to play it-- but we'd sound like dead deer trying to croak out a song. We suck. BUT EMILIE AUTUMN ROCKS!! She's so awesome. :D

  • I loveslovesloveslovesthisssssss <333

  • <3333

  • It's currently about half three in the morning here. I simply had to listen to this again - it's been on my mind for the last five hours. So beautiful, I think i'll just sleep listening to it,...

  • this song is so beautiful

  • @Pullakusi Thank you! I was trying to put my finger on where I had heard that melody before.

    xx

  • i think the jarring chords and the "weird background music" are what made me fall in love with emilie's music in the first place, but it's nice to see how her "style" has sort of morphed over the years. not changed, but matured and aged like a good ole bottle of fine wine :D

  • Greensleaves <3

  • Right now we are reading Romeo and Juliet in my English Class. I'm debating, should I show my teacher this song?

  • it's an amazing melody :33

  • so glad that wer're studying poetry. im showing this to my english teacher on monday!

  • Is it me or does this song remind me of the theme song for the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet?

  • Waiting for my Romeo<333

  • Ugh, I don't mean any disrespect, but her songs really really bother me! Seriously, her voice is amazing, her lyrics are even better, but she does this weird thing where she makes the music way louder than her voice, or she adds this weird auto tune in some songs that make it hard to listen to. Whhhhyyyyyy, I like your music TT_TT but I can't listen to itttt TT_TT Is it just me, or...?

  • @YunJaeGDLuv To each their own. x3 Her older music sort of has some quality issues because at the time she didn't have the grandest equipment, so that's probably what is bugging you.

  • @YunJaeGDLuv No I get what you mean, I love her voice and I think her lyrics are brill, but I can't listen to it, the backing music annoys me, its kind of like the anime soundtracks, and it doesn't really go with what shes actually saying. You know?

  • @kimikoeyes Thank you! Haha.

  • @YunJaeGDLuv:Try songs from the Ophealiac album. I personally love dead is the new alive.

  • @neonrocker4life Thanks, will do :)

  • Happy Birthday Emilie Autumn!!! Today she becomes 32 years old. She has got a amazing voice I love it to hear her sing. A great character hope that she will have a great day. Best wishes from your trusty fans in Germany ^^

  • 50 ppl in the world are smacking them selves on the forehead because they forgot they left their sence of the coll/epic/wicked/awesome in their car on the way home from work today. *nods sadly, hiding grin* Yep...poor suckers. Mwahahahaha!!!!! }:}

  • Thank you Emilie for showing the world true originality and artistic value. You do a magnificent job with it all and i applaud you for being as far as you are in the world despite all of the horrid things you've been through. You are truely a beautiful and strong woman. If i get famous I want to be almost just like you only different so you stay original haha :)

  • my friend erin just told me about her, she is awesome!

  • my choir teacher loves emilie autumn :P so do i .... she is amazing ..

  • Number 3000! I want to thank Emilie proberly, for delivering such wonderfull sounds to my ears. Thats the least i can do. Dear Emilie. Tell me what more i can do, to pay back for listening to your tunes..

  • Is she playing the lute or the violin in this song or both?

  • gr8 song

  • thnx for this wonderful video i was just searching utube until i found her :D beautiful song

  • I want this played at my wedding

  • the way she pronunce "Balcony" is so lovely ♥

  • So....back to the music....

I want this arrangement. I want to play it so badly.

  • @PutThyPawsUp As far as polite corrections may go, might I suggest the use of commas in your writing and typing? They add a very large degree of meaning to otherwise toneless words. It also helps replace the word "as", which you seem so fond of using. "Then I realized, as you made more mistakes, that you really weren't purposely wrong, you were simply an ignorant individual," or "More, I merely (harshly) reprimanded your mistake."

  • @PutThyPawsUp whatever

  • @PutThyPawsUp

Look you don't even know me ok your like 1000 miles away from me , so why are you starting a fight with me. So go away and leave me alone you smashed crab

  • Going on an AE binge.

  • I found her music like a year or two ago and forgot about her music a few monthes back. and I JUST remembered her a few days ago and I got back into her music. She's one of my favorite musicians, next to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison.

  • @PutThyPawsUp

I was just stating an opinion jeez take a chill pill .

So why don't you just go outside find some dog shit and eat it , your not even worth arguing and I don't give a shit what you say back

  • i love her music <3 this song is one of my favorites of here c:

  • I'm new to her music, and... damn, I'm glad I found it. This is really pretty.

  • I don't really like her voice, but I love the violin.

  • it's so weird i know the feeling about those consequences that hang there but I nvr care. :)

  • Underneath my balcony I'll say..(=

Idk this song but it's addicting.Lol.

  • I told my English teacher about this song after we read Romeo and Juliet, she said she loved her voice and the song, same thing with Opheliac. Then the next day she was all "Oh child, please tell me you don't listen to "The Art Of Suicide"" My response was yes its the most played song on my iPod. She told me about a week ago that she's glad I'm not dead and that I atleast lived through her class...o.0

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 Your English teacher ROCKS if she listens to EA <3

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 xDDDD you have an awesome teacher. T~T..

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 So she can't understand the sarcasm in it? Or the fact that the things emilie said the world doesn't need are things that she is?

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 The Art Of Suicide is one of my fave songs by EA. I don't think that your teacher got the meaning behind the song. I interpret it as, 'some people glam up suicide when in reality its not glamorous, its horrible, and people should not pretty it up, because it is the worst thing a person can possibly do, and the people who do it are not feeling the 'glam'. it also relates to the Victorian era 'cuz they glammed it up. I know you probably know this. You seem very intelligent. :)

  • @thePANDASgirl13 EA said it's about peoples reaction to her killing her self. Because they're like: You can do so much. Write and stuff.. But EA's like.. Why live for another song? ..

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 Ha, she soulds like my mom, except my mom hates ANY music I like :P Da teach got some good music sence....but The Art of Suicide is SO the most played on my Ipod in real life *laughs, grinning* Go Emilie!

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13

LOL I guess you should explain to your English teacher the Art of Sarcasm xD

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 I'm showing this to my teacher mrs.Shaw. I'm hopeing that by the time we read the book and I give her the song and artist she will be able to read this. -Destiny.

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 You should tell her to listen to Marry Me. XD

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13

    omg xD LOLZ

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 you could explain to her that it's sarcastic and victorian relative

  • @AsylumPlagueRat13 I'm about to read Romeo and Juliet in English class too soon. (:

  • I love the music in this video. So romantic and so free...... I wish I was as creative as Emilie Autumn. Lovely. Absolutly Lovely

  • Want to get EA on the radio?! I certainly do!

I think EA fans across North America should get organized & call radio stations on a specific day & time to request the SAME song by EA.

Visit my channel for details about voting. Give this a thumbs up if you think it’s a good idea & so other fans will see it.

  • Though I don't actually like the BOOK Romeo and Juliet, I like the story, and I love this song :) Also, the video has a great background ;)

  • @Evebree13

    why don't you like Shakespeare's play ?...

  • @expressexpose i like the story, but it seemed like everything was random and fast-paced in the book...their solutions didnt make a lot of sense to me, and in the beginning they suddenly will die for each other out of no where. *sigh* I just was really disappointed, but I did like Shakespeare's Macbeth and especially Hamlet :)

  • she should so play the song green sleeves, she would rock at it

  • No one appreciates real talent nowadays they all go for that fucktard justin bieber . I think emilie autumn is the queen of talent she has a real voice and justin bieber sounds like a wailing dying cat

  • @QueenWaterLily no justin bieber sounds like hes in the mid part of having a sex change and emilie sounds like the perfect singer

  • @vampirichild

Lmfao and your right about that

  • @QueenWaterLily HELL YEAH!

  • @QueenWaterLily Why bring him up at all? Why can't anyone just compliment the current artist without dragging others into it?

  • damn i love her, her voice can change and it still sounds magical, she really inspires me and im glad that she is unique, i absolutely love her, she just gets me like no one else

  • Doctor Who at 0:55

  • @Pealane I'm so glad someone else heard the TARDIS...

  • I was just about to ask whether the instrumental part from 4:48 to 5:13 was a sample of Greensleeves...glad i wasn't wrong about it :)

  • LOVE how it ends in Greensleeves xx

  • breathtaking beautiful!cannot say more of it

  • how can i download THIS very song? I love the chello and everything but everywhere i look i only find the original song :/

  • @omsnaga go to video2mp3, then just copy the link and that`s it :)

  • i love the tempo of this song. its very soothing. i say this because i am having a bad week and songs like this make me feel better

  • i like very much the part where sounds greensleeves ^^

  • My favorite song by her <3 =)

  • And to conclude from the horse's mouth herself ... to prove my point more true than most of you want to believe.

"My revenge against my doctors," she concluded, "is that I won't be killed by this; I will make this into something that can pay for my very expensive tour bus. I'm a very happy suicidal girl right now."

If that's not a obvious point home I do not know what else would be.

  • Not true because of a statement of creativity. Moreover true because it allowed her to push a selling point across and make money off fools. Remember in life do not follow so blindly. And always see the truth even people themselves afford you to see. I wish you a wonderful day =)

  • So for the largest factor of my statement remains true. Most of those in awe of her, are more so on her being "nuts". And somehow stating they "connect" with her because of it. A simple but effective selling point on her end if I do say so myself. We all wish to belong. Even in the darkest corners of our minds, in the deepest, strangest urges to reside. So the fact she would have far less fans is very clear and true. And saying they "probably" added to it is absurdly asinine when its true.

  • @witchsaint1 I don't get into debates. However, I will say some things then let it rest. For one as far as things shown and noted she was admitted to a institution for trying to kill herself from manic depression/bipolar. As even stated by her in "The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls". "Nothing in my life has ever made me want to commit suicide more than people's reaction to my trying to commit suicide". Also taken from her book.

  • I've watched almost every of your Emily Autumn videos! They are so simple, but so elegant and aesthetic at the same time... they fit perfectly with Emily's music. Congratulations!

  • My friend sent me a song and I decided that it was amazing.. So I clicked on another and another and next thing I know, I"m a huge fan.

  • LOOVE the begin of the start had me hocked

  • greensleeves part best part

  • I'm in love witha girl named Juliet <3

  • @Jynxxgasm If your name is romeo then you two are fucked lol. Just joking though

  • @WeaponXSigma Haha yeah I kinda thought about that xD

  • juiet needs a sassy gay friend! stupid bitch

  • i love the greensleeves elements.

  • Best inspiration ever when you have to write a modern novelization of Romeo and Juliet like I just had to do... I probably listened to this song 20+ times in one day when I was working on it. :)

  • Emilie Autumn inspires me<3

  • First time I have ever heard of her, and the intro makes me fall in love..

  • Perfeita <3 Não existe música melhor *-*

  • the intro sounds a lot like pirates of the caribbean but it's wonderful anyway! she's just the best!!

  • The cello in this song makes me so happy.

  • i love the music. it's seems medieval to me.

  • It wasn't written to be an awe inspiring everlasting love story. Romeo and Juliet is a satire. Get over it.

  • Romeo and Juliet kinda makes me laugh, cuz their supposed to be so deeply in love, but they were supposedly 14 and 16 and the whole play took place over a week. That's not love, that's hormonal lust. This really has nothing to do with the song, but I still wanted to say it.

  • @musicmama888 Yeah, I was surprised. I though they were older and the whole thing lasted a few months.

  • @musicmama888 But that was in a completely different time. In that time girls sometimes married on their 12th. So that they were so young isn't so weird.

  • @dragon2277 My point wasn't that it was weird. I just meant that it's not the greatest love story ever told. It's the greatest hormonal lust story ever told.

  • @musicmama888 ur one ignorant son of a female dog.

  • @Choko4343 I take it from that comment that you're about their age and you think you're in love. When you get married young before you even really know what things are important in life, let me know how that turns out.

  • @musicmama888 You should take from that comment that im calling you an idiot for bashing on a beautiful piece of work. Love is love. Hard to understand it if you've never felt it. Feel free to call out the "getting married young" card on me, but deep in you, you know that you will be forever alone.

  • @Choko4343 You can't be in love if you know nothing about the person. They got married after knowing each other for less than 72 hours. They were not in love. That's a fact. If you think someone can have a perfect, lasting relationship based on absolutely nothing, then you are the idiot.

  • @musicmama888 The thing is, there are some times when you don't need to know them all too well to know you're in love. Sometimes, it's a first-conversation thing. You just feel that connection, the first time, and you know it's happily ever after. Sure there may be more than a few bumps in the road, but there's a happily ever after there, if given the chance. I'm speaking from experience, here, too. I'm sure, if given the chance, Romeo and Juliet could've had it too.

  • @musicmama888 Actually, I have to disagree with you because of what I have seen happen right in front of me. One day, my mom met this guys who was good friends with her sister. He claimed that the second he saw her he fell in love with her (he said he literaly saw fireworks). And yes, it sounded like a load of bull but she gave him a chance anyway. Three months later they married. Last January they celebrated their two year anniversary. That may not be long, but now they're stronger than ever.

  • @Amaravamp Dad said he fell instantly for mom, 32 years married 36 from their first date still as mushy and in love as newlyweds. Love at first sight can happen

  • @Amaravamp Lust at first sight. How can you love someone you don't know a thing about? Lustful.

  • @PooPooRiot 1. Lust doesn't lead to marriage. 2. My mom isn't that gorgeous.

  • @PooPooRiot lust is a feeling someone has when they sexualy desire a person not knowing someone and loving them is the best love bc you wouldnt care wat they were like bc you already love them for everything they are. now im no one to tell you wat love is bc no one knows, but i do know that romeo and juliet we're maddly in love. if it were just lust, they wouldnt have gone throu so much toutrue and pain to be together you dont kill yourself over lust true love is out there.it'll happen to you <3

  • @MrzzGaGa

I think it was a mixture of lust and that they weren't really in love with each other but in love with the thought of being in love with each other. And they mistaked it for the real thing.

  • @MITSUKIISDEAD Hmm, well. I don't believe in 'love at first sight' cause i believe is takes years to truly love someone but i do believe that sometimes when you look at/meet someone you just know they are going to be a big part in your life

  • @CountessKitty18

I agree and I believe the same thing. I'm just saying I believe the two of them mistaked what they felt for love at first sight was really just lust.

  • @MITSUKIISDEAD but what i was saying basically it could have nothing to do with lust

  • @CountessKitty18

That is true. But at the same time even knowing this person is going to be a huge part of your life isn't a good reason to kill yourself over them.

I love Shakespear <3 this just isn't my favorite play of his by any means. I enjoy Hamlet much more.

  • @Choko4343 and you still remain one ignorant k9 :)

  • @Choko4343 Note that you said that to yourself

  • Does anyone else hear Greensleeves? Or am I just insane?

  • @32symphonic97 Oh yes you're hearing Greensleeves. :)

  • She has a beautiful voice, and this is a catchy tune, but the instruments drive me nuts. I know they're electronic, but they still sound canned.

  • This Song make me cry when i think of him...

    <3

  • FYI Romeo & Juliet is the most shallow story mistaken for love i have ever read. But good song, Gotta love this music

  • I wish i was born like everyone else.. You all need to recognise how lucky you are to even feel love. Little things that most people are born with are not noticed, but really they're so important and special. it's just most people are just born with it... so no one notices but the people who don't have it.

  • This song makes me feel like I`m in love.... to someone that doesn`t even exist ... guy, that I haven`t just found yet....

Or maybe I fell in love with Emilies music? Nah, I`m already in love with it :3

  • All minds are tortured .. it is the advent of modern society. And sheep are born of simple labors. Where a selling point can always be made. I do enjoy her. Though people are too hung up going "omg she's nuts .. I must love her then". If people loved her for her, and not that. I am sure she would not have as many fans.

  • @azraelsgrave all minds are tortured, yes, but not everyone is raped and put into a mental asylum. we dont love her because she's "nuts" and we dont "love her for her", we love her because she makes magnificent, authentic music. well thats why I love her. I cant speak for everyone but I can speak for myself and people I know who like her. that isnt to say she would be less talented if those things didn't happen, but they probably added to it. either way, doesnt make any difference to me.

  • @witchsaint If all minds are tortured, then she's capturing the human experience. Which is awesome as well as important. :)

  • @azraelsgrave

Well, I love her because of her music, but not only that, she gives amazing shows, something other artists don't, Emilie performs and entertains her fans, she makes jokes etc. That's why I love her. :3

  • I really wish that there was a " love " button.

  • @SuperShayNicole And entirely different words. Although yes, the tune is exactly the same. But I'm done arguing. Emilie Autumn is too awesome for this!

  • @SuperShayNicole The tune of "What Child is This" is actually a rewording of the song "Greensleeves" which is a very common song to play on the violin, so she is probably playing that, not the Christmas song. :)

  • @SuperShayNicole

    Is that another song?

  • Story of my life.

  • @VulgarTeacake You have a tragic life story... the good news is that you don't have to worry about Romeo not getting the message when you fake kill yourself. Man R&J could have really used a cellphone back then

  • Whenever it's just her playing the electric violin I get major chills up and down my spine! Her voice is gorgeous in this song!!!

  • So Freaking Fabulous. So soulful. Emilie Autumn<3

  • I need that album...

  • I saw her in concert yesterday. :3 Absolutely brilliant.

  • @PurpleTheDragon

I don't think I've ever been more jealous of a person

  • Beautiful. Nuff said.

  • Her voice is very special - it dosen't sound like any of the other female artists like Ke$a, Beyonce or Britney Spears. It's different. She is one of the few women with a special voice.

  • @Seshochan Opera-ish voice, like Amy Lee, only a teeny tiny bit more deeper.

  • @Seshochan theres a lot of woman who have a beautiful voice that's different from Britney or Ke$ha, they just get the attention they deserve because the music world is a very fucked up thing right now.

  • @Seshochan sorry I meant Don't get the attention they deserve.

  • @Seshochan i think that u couldnt be more right

  • @Seshochan While I agree that Emilie Autumn's voice is a beautiful tool of music, I am slightly alarmed that you find Beyonce and Britney Spears to sound the same. I believe women have wide varieties of voices, all the difference between Joan Osborne and the girls from October Project.

  • in love with this.... <3

  • i like your added touches ;)

  • sooooooo much better than Love Song (Taylor Swift)

  • @THEORYofMEtari8kitti I agree - Taylor Swifts was so girly and had stupid lyrcs, this has more soul in its lyrics.

  • @Seshochan Well you can't actually say that, the lyrics both have soul, it's just that Taylor's lyrics were aiming for society as a whole, and her lyrics usually describe what teenagers feel; they arent girly or stupid; they're childish. Emilie's are more deep and mature because of what she's been through, it's described through "crazy" poetry. You can't compare their lyrics; it's different. Try comparing Taylor with Selena. Maybe you'll get somewhere.

  • it's like this music entered in my body through my ears :x she's probably the first artist that made me feel this way :3

  • I think Emile is influenced foremost and primarily by Emilie. Good art comes from life, and she's had more experience in hers than most people twice her age.

  • @CalestaWillis you're right. people who have been through more crap usually have deeper personalities.
