Dear Dell, It will because of things you do, the great sport of PPG will end up being heavily regulated in the future. We will not have the freedom to fly without perhaps a license, taking a test, insurance, and even registering our gear. Everyone flying owes the sport the responsibility so it does NOT get regulated. Flying over a highway, off a median, off a tower, buzzing a boat. All of these things will eventually lead to heavier REGULATION.

So don't do dumb things like Dell.

Comparing RC gliders to trespassing with a speed wing, are two TOTALLY different things. RC planes can be flown in MANY places PG can't. Just because a RC plane or glider can do it, does not mean you can TRESPASS and jump off a tower. Get it through your THICK skull. Birds, RC planes and PG are TOTALLY different. What you did was TRESPASS.. If it was NOT trespassing, you would not have been ARRESTED.. GET IT?!?

Purely EVIL KSL starts right off saying "illegal parachute jump". Where is the law that says it is illegal to parachute? That is a complete fraud. They SELL gliders at the tower and encourage people to fly gliders there. There is no law against flying a glider. There is no law against flying. Then they go on to suggest the FAA fined Schanze for "buzzing traffic" which is another complete lie. Again Schanze didn't break the law and the FAA exonerated Schanze. KSL are lying sacks of poop.

The Astoria Column sells model airplanes and encourages people to fly them from the top of the tower. It is open to absolutely anyone. There is no charge to visit the tower, it is open and encouraged to everyone. There are no signs saying don't fly gliders from this tower because they sell them there and encourage people to fly them. There is no guard at the top telling people not to fly gliders because they sell them at the bottom. Schanze flew a glider from the tower just like others.

@imasuper0308 The only difference between Schanze flying his glider is that he was in absolute and complete control of it the whole time to ensure a safe flight and it was indeed a perfect and safe flight. Those flying the model gliders they sell at the tower have zero control of them. To pretend to glorify flight and even sell gliders and encourage people to fly gliders from the tower but then arrest a guy for flying when there is no law at all against it, no sign... that is sick and twisted

When was the last time a bird was arrested? Some people can fly as effortlessly as others walk. It is dumbfounding how some people's brains are so narrow and ignorant they get upset when they see others do things they can't. Why? The flight was not illegal. That's totally false reporting. Totally false about the FAA fining Dell Schanze as he didn't buzz traffic. Instead the FAA found he didn't break the law and dropped the case. The USHPA magazine had a picture of something almost exactly the same on the FRONT COVER of their magazine but pretended Schanze did something wrong. There were far more supporters of the very LEGAL flight despite the horrifically false story from satanic ksl. Road rage with gun also a lie

What was hurt? Who was endangered? Nobody cares if a bird lands there and flies down. There is zero difference between a bird doing it and a person who can fly. Those that can fly think nothing of flying as they do it all day. Only freaking evil people would try to make it out as bad. Dang!

No instead they arrest a guy in front of his children and friends and haul him off to jail knowing full well he didn't break the law just to be evil. What's the point? Why not ask politely and then make a clear law against it and do it legally?? If a bird flies into Area 51, then I am guessing you should be able to as well? That is what you are saying. If a bird can do it, I can too.. That example is extremely ridiculous. The laws that apply to birds, do not apply to humans.

If you were paid, or were told you could do what you did, you would not have been arrested, you would not have had to appear in front of a judge, etc etc. Those who are paid, do it LEGALLY because they were ASKED to. The "experts" would too be arrested if they did a stunt, and do so by TRESPASSING. The only person that it isn't obvious to is you. Self justification is easy to do.. To further elaborate. There are paramotors that are FAR more comfortable, and actually safer than the flat top. When you have a frame that is as strong as the flat top is, it is actually more dangerous.. Frames have give for a reason, so your body doesn't take the impact on a hard landing. Imagine if a car was designed the same way? Instead of the gas tank being in the rear, it was right next to the engine? kinda like the flat top, it would be unsafe. Anyone new, do yourself a favor, research!

He does prey on the ignorance of newcomers, and is in a way insulting them by recognizing their ignorance. If a newcomer found any of his videos, wanted in on the sport, he would talk you into a setup that he deems to be the BEST.. While in fact, the design is awkward, and not as good as others.

KSL is all lies. First they suggest the tower jump was illegal even though there is NO LAW AGAINST IT!! Then they suggest I was fined by FAA for buzzing a freeway; again another total lie as I didn't break the law and the FAA exonerated me after their investigation, bash trash lie, instigate hate... @imasuper0308 The whole reason this story came about along with the negativity is because of Brad Hill of Discovery paragliding who called the police over and over and over and over and then called all the media trying to twist something cool about our sport into a negative. In his total ignorance he ended up getting the entire coast of Oregon shut down to ppg. He himself admitted publicly that it was him. If he wouldn't have lied to police and media this story would not have existed.

I'm a paraglider pilot, and most of the people in the paragliding community think Dell is a jerk. He seems to be one of these guys who thinks flying safety rules do not apply to him, such as not flying above populated areas, etc. He gets into trouble with authorities and gives paraglider pilots a bad name. A lot of us hope he goes to jail for a while so he will stop causing problems for everyone.
