Charisma ,style, soul, top guy(or ace face if you prefer ).Saw them in 64 or 65 on north pier in Blackpool, What a show Stevie and the boys put on .We all know about his problems and troubles but to me he is still the best soul voice this country has produced .Weller ,meet the real deal
the song starts off so nice.the last 20 seconds make a poor ending. the song have ended gently like it started.the "early "small faces, kinks, the who, zombies and beatles will always be rediscovered by new generations.their music and songs still holds up today.
He was Amazing and what girl could say no to that lovely smile? and I love his cheeky ways and the voice? Fabulous and the rest of the Small Faces? Fantastic! much missed R.I.P Steve and Ronnie, xx
Great song! I noticed that his guitar appears not to be plugged in! (typical "live but not live" performance!) Wonder what variety show this footage is taken from and also what happened to the original audio? Looks like he was joking around at some points and that would have been fun to hear. :)
Steve should have had Rod Stewart's success and visa versa. England's best kept secret. I hope everyone sticks around for the rave-up ending of this song.
Brilliant video Thank you very much for posting this. I love the Small Faces and Steve Marriotts voice is perfection. This song is so beauiful! What talent! Thanks again!!!!
To my opinion there will NEVER never be a more perfect ROCK musician then Marriott! He had the most amazing voice (never went flat) an unreal natural stage presence, crazy charm & grew into an amazing guitarist. Performed any style; blues, pop, soul, rock, can't touch him period ; no Jagger, Hendrix, Frampton etc to me, I'll take Marriott thank you. He was the best & picked the best players: Plonk, Jones, Clemson Ridley etc all REAL musicians . He picked em great because he was great PERIOD.
For those lucky souls who are just discovering the Small Faces, this is from the "In Memorium" album. For whoever posted this, well done mate, one of my favourites.
Yes, the camera man must have found Steve rather pretty, as he just follows him around like other guys don't exist! Steve may well be stoned, but he also seems completely embarrassed by having to lip synch this, so he barely bothers with it.
I'm hoping this is on the new Small Faces dvd? It's coming out next week in North America, although I believe Mac is selling some autographed copies now at his myspace page.
I only discovered Small Faces thru YouTube.I had heard Ichycoo Park only a couple of times in my life.I knew the name but not their music.Thank Goodness I am no longer deprived.
@MODbelle Me too. I only discovered them out here a few years ago when I pulled up Itchycoo Park, the only song of theirs I knew. I was shocked to find out how much more there was - and how amazing they were. I remain pissed off over all those years I lived without them!
this is a classic 60's video.. which is right up my alley!!!.. loved the Small Faces... rip dear Stevie.. you were one of the best xx thanx for a great post ... Lyndloo...
Help, that' s Gibson with 2 rounded horns, if 1 pick-up it would be a Les Paul Junior. Did Steve stick a 2nd pick-up on?? Also, in early Pie, Marriott played similar looking 1 pick-up, identified as Epiphhone Coronet, while Frampton had top line 3 Gold Pick-up White, 2 sharp horned Gibson, I saw them/heard them and I swear that just as Frampton played most solo's, for raunch the Coronet and Steve gave them that, to their sound.
It's Gibson Les Paul for sure, but it's not LP Junior. Junior has only two tone/volume controls. Here you have four. Actually this guitar looks a lot like the one from Tin Soldier with PP Arnold video, but this one is dark (probably cherry).
I think it's 1960 Gibson Les Paul Special (double-cut with 2 pick-ups), but Steve added a tremolo from Gretsch guitar.
lol, does it make any sense?
BTW cheers for Ronnie's doc. that you sent me some time ago
Thanks for uploading this Helen. It amazes me where people get these old videos from. Steve was and still is the best ever. I saw them live in the sixties..what a voice...Dave
Can't stop watching it, in N. AM during the late 60's everyone took themselves soooo seriously, we needed to see these super talented wee guys just having fun, yet 99% missed them altogether, bloody sin, Mr. Arden.

Thisn is one the rare instances when the B side of a single is even better thyan the A side, in this case 'Itchycoo Park' which wasn't bad either!

Tremendous song and flipside of the Itchycoo Park 45.
I think here they're actually playing to the 45 version~ that has a better & tighter feel to it.
Maybe the people who found this video didn't have the original audio with it and just dubbed in the album take, not realizing.
Still, great to see this.
