  • Charisma ,style, soul, top guy(or ace face if you prefer ).Saw them in 64 or 65 on north pier in Blackpool, What a show Stevie and the boys put on .We all know about his problems and troubles but to me he is still the best soul voice this country has produced .Weller ,meet the real deal

  • If you haven't seen it, there's a Ronnie Lane DVD out there that's well worth the watch.

  • Thisn is one the rare instances when the B side of a single is even better thyan the A side, in this case 'Itchycoo Park' which wasn't bad either!

  • Great band great tune

  • RIP Steve...

  • the song starts off so nice.the last 20 seconds make a poor ending. the song have ended gently like it started.the "early "small faces, kinks, the who, zombies and beatles will always be rediscovered by new generations.their music and songs still holds up today.

  • @holadonkey

I actually like the ending. I think the whole song is perfect. What an amazing group - and Steve is just to die for here, so adorable.

  • got to be one of the best SOUL voices ever love this song

  • Does anyone get chills when Steve sings "close your door" *0.25) with those Am to D chords? Brilliant.

  • He was Amazing and what girl could say no to that lovely smile? and I love his cheeky ways and the voice? Fabulous and the rest of the Small Faces? Fantastic! much missed R.I.P Steve and Ronnie, xx

  • I feel sorry for the one disliker they must be very lonely

  • Great lyrics & a true soul classic from The Great Steve Marriott.

  • Steve...IS IN A MOOD...! Kenney and Ronnie look like they are

hoping Steve will.... FINISH.... the song...BEFORE...he leaves the

stage! What an awesome group of musicians... I LOVE THEM ALL!

  • this is sooooo Good!!!!

  • my favourite song by the small faces, luv marriotts voice it touches my soul

  • great song

  • I love how he turns around looks at Ronnie and slags the lip sinc bullshit.

  • @yippierb He's actually singing along to the single version, not this one. Which explains the the huge descrepency between his lips and the music.

  • can't fake it, eh? Tha's another reason for your Hall of Fame assurance

  • what a video, many thanks!

if Steve was smiling and joking, it was like a bit of the soul of the sun.

  • hadn't seen this one. AAAA

  • Great song! I noticed that his guitar appears not to be plugged in! (typical "live but not live" performance!) Wonder what variety show this footage is taken from and also what happened to the original audio? Looks like he was joking around at some points and that would have been fun to hear. :)

  • I don't know why but I always cry when I hear this

  • The saddest day in rock was the day steve marriotts voice was silenced... there will never be another

  • Such a beautiful, talented boy.

  • They need a LOVE button to click on, one of my very favourites by the Small Faces

  • Awesome - thanks - did not know this existed.

  • omg what a cutie

  • Steve should have had Rod Stewart's success and visa versa. England's best kept secret. I hope everyone sticks around for the rave-up ending of this song.

  • a right bunch of cheeky cockerney herberts, love it

  • @helewelly123 This is probably my favorite Small Faces song, and this is my favorite version of it! Thanks for posting this one!!

  • wonderful song and video

  • Fantastic! Thanks.

  • got a tear in my eye watchin this ...god bless steve and ronnie

  • This is Steve's worst lipsyching ever. But he's so damn cute and this is such a good song that it really doesn't matter.

  • Quite a little mover and shaker, oh, and that voice!

  • Stevie Marriott gave Eric Carmen something to think about (and nick).

  • great stuff LOL

  • excellent...xx

  • He was such a beautiful guy.

  • Brilliant video Thank you very much for posting this. I love the Small Faces and Steve Marriotts voice is perfection. This song is so beauiful! What talent! Thanks again!!!!

  • didn't even know there was a video. thank you so much, it's my favorite small faces song!!

  • To my opinion there will NEVER never be a more perfect ROCK musician then Marriott! He had the most amazing voice (never went flat) an unreal natural stage presence, crazy charm & grew into an amazing guitarist. Performed any style; blues, pop, soul, rock, can't touch him period ; no Jagger, Hendrix, Frampton etc to me, I'll take Marriott thank you. He was the best & picked the best players: Plonk, Jones, Clemson Ridley etc all REAL musicians . He picked em great because he was great PERIOD.

  • best band of the 60's

  • Love this song, love the small faces.

    RIP steve and ronnie.

  • Kenney Jones - so steady, so bemused by Stevie.

  • steve looks so young in this, love seeing the expressions on his face, cant take my eyes off him

  • Wow. I love Steve Mariott so much! Best of his songs. There is surely a lot of good footage of the Small Faces.

  • WOW! I've always wanted to see this! Thanks, Marriott was the BEST!

  • WOW! I've always wanted to see this! Thanks, Marriott was the BEST!

  • WOW! thanks for posting this! I've always wanted to see it; specially those vocals Marriott hits. This man was the best! thanks!

  • where the hell did you get this from!!! absolute class my fave small faces song ever.cheers.

  • Good performance, Steve Marriott was such a good vocalist

    Great lyrics, also

  • Christ, what a voice!

  • Tremendous song and flipside of the Itchycoo Park 45.

I think here they're actually playing to the 45 version~ that has a better & tighter feel to it.

Maybe the people who found this video didn't have the original audio with it and just dubbed in the album take, not realizing.

    Still, great to see this.

  • For those lucky souls who are just discovering the Small Faces, this is from the "In Memorium" album. For whoever posted this, well done mate, one of my favourites.

    Tin Soldiers SC

  • Yes, the camera man must have found Steve rather pretty, as he just follows him around like other guys don't exist! Steve may well be stoned, but he also seems completely embarrassed by having to lip synch this, so he barely bothers with it.

I'm hoping this is on the new Small Faces dvd? It's coming out next week in North America, although I believe Mac is selling some autographed copies now at his myspace page.

  • The camera is just lovin' Steve here.

  • I only discovered Small Faces thru YouTube.I had heard Ichycoo Park only a couple of times in my life.I knew the name but not their music.Thank Goodness I am no longer deprived.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @MODbelle Me too. I only discovered them out here a few years ago when I pulled up Itchycoo Park, the only song of theirs I knew. I was shocked to find out how much more there was - and how amazing they were. I remain pissed off over all those years I lived without them!

  • @MODbelle Better late than never, eh?!

  • this is a classic 60's video.. which is right up my alley!!!.. loved the Small Faces... rip dear Stevie.. you were one of the best xx thanx for a great post ... Lyndloo...

  • Help, that' s Gibson with 2 rounded horns, if 1 pick-up it would be a Les Paul Junior. Did Steve stick a 2nd pick-up on?? Also, in early Pie, Marriott played similar looking 1 pick-up, identified as Epiphhone Coronet, while Frampton had top line 3 Gold Pick-up White, 2 sharp horned Gibson, I saw them/heard them and I swear that just as Frampton played most solo's, for raunch the Coronet and Steve gave them that, to their sound.

  • Hi, lol I think no one knows the answer ;)

It's Gibson Les Paul for sure, but it's not LP Junior. Junior has only two tone/volume controls. Here you have four. Actually this guitar looks a lot like the one from Tin Soldier with PP Arnold video, but this one is dark (probably cherry).

I think it's 1960 Gibson Les Paul Special (double-cut with 2 pick-ups), but Steve added a tremolo from Gretsch guitar.

lol, does it make any sense?

BTW cheers for Ronnie's doc. that you sent me some time ago

  • Wonderful :)

  • Thanks everyone for all your comments!!! ;))))

  • Thanks for the heads up on PP Arnold.

I am only knew to Marriott but I am definitly a convert what a brilliant Artist !

  • is this out of sync or is that how it is?

  • they're just miming, that's o.k. everyone did.

  • Steve & Kenny still in a bit of mod kit while Ian & Ronnie already turned a bit hippie.

  • best voice ive ever heard

  • never seen this vid before its great good job

  • A true entertainer..stoned yes but that was Steve..R.I.P.

  • Genius. Me thinks Stevie was a little stoned.

  • Thanks for uploading this Helen. It amazes me where people get these old videos from. Steve was and still is the best ever. I saw them live in the sixties..what a voice...Dave
