@30hsman -- great question, concentrated palming vs. dispersed thru the day? Both are good. The key is to do it and enjoy it. The advantage of palming through the day is you are constantly reminding your eyes of the ease you want them to feel. The advantage of concentrated is you can surely go deeper, same as with meditation where the brain wave shifts (the "relaxation response") after about 20 minutes. Of course BOTH ways together can be even more powerful. But avoid being a fanatic.
Hello, I'm 25 and I've never weared glasses in my life but 2 weeks ago I've noticed my eyesight changed, so before yesterday I went to an optician that told me I suffer from astigmatism -1 per eye and -0.5 myopia on the left eye
I didn't buy any glasses yet, and really don't know what to do
any chance to recover my eyesight? and if yes how long would it take me?
@TheThruth27 -- If you have been under a lot of stress your eyes may be showing it. Notice something a bit blurry, then do Bates palming for a few minutes. Look again it will be more clear. This will give you faith that your eyes are fine. Dive into other Bates techniques. Avoid treating them as eye exercises, instead think of them as yoga and meditation. If the change is so recent it should just take a couple weeks to get back. Let go of the stress that caused it.
@30hsman -- For you 20/20 in 2 to 6 months perhaps. To make fastest progress only use full strength glasses when needed (e.g. driving). Tell your eye doctor you want some weaker reading glasses, they will probably cover most of your glasses needs. Go without glasses as much as you can.Enthusiasm, excitement, and constant "shifting" through the day are ESSENTIAL. This is relaxation, not work, but it takes constant attention. Your mind will be sharper and happier. visit bettereyesightnow
@CopEmRetros -- The Bates Long Swing should help. But, go much slower than you think. Put on some music that's relaxing that you really like. Experiment with the notion of letting yourself BE moved rather than making your self move back and forth. Let your gaze slip along the horizon. [Bates Long Swing: Feet shoulder width apart, Rotate from your hips and ankles to the left & right, alternating. Let your face and head slightly lead the turn each way. Smile. Let your shoulders drop.]
How effective is palming if you constantly have cold and clamy hands? Is the palming motion enough to get any benefit out of palming without the warmth to further relax your eyes?
@forbiddenfollies -- YES, definitely go ahead and palm with cold hands. Let your hands melt into your face, imagine you can feel energy flowing out your arms, forearms, and through your wrists into your palms. Very likely you will notice that palming causes your hands to warm up after a few minutes! This is good for your whole body, more relaxed with better circulation. You can also rub your hands together or dip them in hot water if the cold hands are unpleasant for your eyes.
ive been doin the palming, divergence 10 min each everyday for at least 3 months. oh and i also do eye movements and massaging. i havent seen a big imrpovement in my eyesight but it relieved my eyes from stress and they could work for a longer time now. should i keep doing the excersises?? please REPLY
@CopEmRetros -- sounds like great progress with how your eyes FEEL. Now to get your eyes to see more clearly... Do you mean you are doing convergence? Be careful, it is easy to do this in a way that uses effort rather than ease. Same with "eye movements" -- it is really much better to move your head and let your eyes come along. Your neck is likely tight. If so, find a way to do the techniques that causes your neck to relax. Yes, continue! Flow. Ease. Happy eyes. Don't work at it.
@naturalsight divergence-looking at a far sight beyond my finger. and ive been having some neck strain. does neck do anything with your eyes that is major?
@CopEmRetros -- Blurry eyesight of any sort involves the neck. If the neck strain gets better your eyesight should improve; if your eyesight improves something will have eased up in your neck. ["Divergence"...Really you are "converging" to a distant spot and lightly notice the illusion of two fingers diverging up close. This is a wonderful way to relax and extend your near-far focusing IF you are relaxed and not straining. Focus on your finger, then distance, keep repeating.]
@runescapeglicthes -- You're in the perfect position. Young, adaptable, and interested. Aim to be able to pass your drivers test without glasses (20/40 or better). You'll make faster progress if you can spend at least 30 minutes each day, plus practice any time you remember. It seems like a lot of effort but it will be like meditation. You will feel clear minded and probably need less sleep as you cease holding the visual strain all day. Good luck. visit bettereyesightnow too.
So if we seek to reverse our lives, we should stop wearing, glasses and stressing? and meditate and do these exercises with our eyes? Mostly I am wondering about if I should continue to wear them? so I can have an improved vision. Right?
@BroCology -- It's surprising how much energy it takes to keep vision blurry. You will discover the blur is accompanied by tightness in the chest, neck, shoulders, and face. Any of the natural vision techniques will dissolve all these things together. Yes, meditation is splendid, but it will be best if you proceed with a smile and don't get over-serious about it. Go without glasses when you can, wear them when you drive!!! consider reduced glasses and pinhole glasses too.
Hi man im wondering if you culd help me. I have with time seen a slowly worshening of my eye vision and i have like dry eyes and things like that but i went to the optican and they told me i have -1 but they wuld not suggest any glasses so i wonder if i can fix them in any way ty
@edine9595 --that's great, and unusual that they would not recommend glasses for -1. Yes these methods will help clear your vision and take care of dry eyes. Go to my website bettereyesightnow and follow one of the free audios. Afterward you will see more clearly and your eyes will feel moist, just a natural response to relaxation and therefore better circulation. This will give you confidence to go further with it. Good luck!
@AHMADF93 Great question, do pinhole glasses help nearsightedness. Opinions vary but I feel sure they do help. I have heard many people say innocently when they put them on, "wow these are so relaxing". Relaxation is at the heart of the Bates Method. Many who have improved myopia feel that pinholes glasses were a key part of their success, and some used pinholes only. Maybe in some cases they are partly a placebo, but if a placebo actually helps me I sure won't complain!
@AHMADF93 -- More important than how much, is that you feel something new and different in your eyes each time. The premise of this approach is that your established vision habits include more or less staring to the extent of your myopia. You want to replace the staring with relaxation and easy, natural movement. Your eyes feel really good when you do this. Start with 10 minutes, then 30. And renew this feeling all day as often as you can remember.
@EsotericAdept -- your comment is fair enough, but please understand these points are subtle and not linear for most people. I don't care if people are intellectually satisfied with an explanation, I just want a person to feel something new in their eyes and to get a sample of clearer vision. Everyone learns differently.
@shohamjac -- okay, I admit I filter out some of the cynical and annoying comments, especially angry people who just want to argue. But yours made me smile. :-)
@OutragedPanda -- Your prescription of -1.25 and -1.5 is not really that strong. I bet on a good day after palming your eyes for awhile you could pass or almost pass the vision test for your drivers license, which requires at least 20/40 in most US states.
@OutragedPanda No way! That's such a week prescription! My brother has that and only has a small issue with things far in the distance(which doesn't bother him since how often to do you need to use distance vision?) Personally I'm -4.75 in both eyes and literally, if any writing isn't my hand's width away from my eyes(about 5-6 inches) I will NOT be able to read it at all. You have a huge potential to fix your eyes now before it gets any worse!
I thought the reason for far or near sightedness was the shape of the eye. If the eye isn't shaped perfectly and the focal point isn't in the right place, how can you ever see perfectly with eye exercises or not?
@mattmossop -- yes, exactly. Either the shape of the eye or the shape of the lens makes the focal point hit in front of the retina rather than on the retina. So the question is whether this is fully genetic, or whether other factors may be at play. The Bates Model says that the incredibly strong oblique muscles which wrap around the top and bottom of the eye, squeeze it into the elongated shape. This is said by Dr. Bates to come from straining to see.
@naturalsight Thanks for the reply. So do these methods supposedly work if the eye is misshappen due to degeneration or other genetic factors?
Also, I have a prescription of -2.25 in each eye, but only really wear glasses to drive and to watch tv (which I read on another post you said is a good thing). However I strain my eyes a lot to see by squinting (which actually works very well) when I don't wear my glasses, which I assume is a bad thing?
@mattmossop -- Yes, some people with "genetic" eye conditions have been able to reverse them. But it may be that things like posture and self-confidence have a huge influence on eyesight. It could be that the "genetic" poor eyesight passed from grandparents and parents really has more to do with learning to hold the breath and cower, in a way that cannot support clear eyesight. If so, this gives a great opportunity to appreciate what we have and make it better.
@mattmossop -- yes, that is a tricky balance. you want to go without glasses whenever you safely can do so, but you also want to avoid straining. Squinting is a type of strain. Even though it gets clearer vision in the short run, it is the wrong path to get to relaxed clear sight. Try getting some reduced prescription glasses ("computer glasses"), and also try pinhole glasses. And, see if you can befriend the blurry vision. This can really help your progress.
@TheForeverDrums -- Here are responses to your queries. The way we watch TV or especially a computer tends to strain the eyes, and this may become chronic. It probably is not damage per se, because it can readily be reversed by relaxation techniques such as palming. Yes the method completely works for those who have the good fortune to completely understand it, partially for others. It's like meditation, it goes very deep and it is not just about the eyes. A happy outLOOK makes the eyes healthy.
Hey do you have any free ways for me to get a quick reduced diopter rating since i dont have any extra cash to spend at the moment? im in the process of joining the USMC and my diopter rating is at 5 right now, and i had to send in a medical waiver since they recomend you have a maximum of 3 diopters. I would appreciate if you could tell me a few ways to get it lowered, i would like to get to 4 or 3 diopters if possible. thanks, if not thanks for your time anyways
@Byniabynia -- It helps to have and incentive like you have, wanting to improve your eyesight for the USMC. If you will be outdoors a lot this will really help to stretch your vision. Be sure to keep looking at things in the distance. You are quite nearsighted and will notice that you presently stare at everything at once. Gradually teach yourself to look around constantly. Then after awhile practice looking around more distinctly, like at one leaf on a branch, or each corner of a window.
@9angelSNSD -- some people have improved their eyesight quite a bit by going on a carrot juice fast or raw foods in general. I met one fellow who said he got rid of his -3 diopter prescription just by only drinking distilled water. He believed that the impurities in regular water would plug up the blood circulation and function of the eyes. Maybe he was right, or maybe his eyes improved because he believed they should?
I have your 6CD program and I started the method about two weeks ago. Can you give me more diet advices? What should we eat during the bates method and what should we avoid? My eyes are -2.25 right and -2.75 left. I see alot of improvement after those two weeks! How long can it take before my vision is 20/20 again? I think i'm doing everything right because I also got private lessons from a bates teacher here in the Netherlands. Peace.
@Mediagamerz -- I apologize for my slow reply! I hope your vision is continuing to improve. Please feel free to contact me via my website given above. If you are young and full of conviction and excitement about it, maybe you are already there. The thing to watch out for, is don't let it turn into eye exercises. You don't want to work your eyes, that is what created the nearsightedness in the first place. You want your eyes to be happy. This requires movement and relaxation with your vision.
bates method works i can read size 10 fonts 30 inches away now....i cudnt do that 3 weeks ago....just be consistent& dont skip...i do it daily in the morining + eat green vegetables raw...i hated it too but i like it now....
@naturalsight is it okay if i wear my glasses while im in school? i really want to improve my eyesight. it can kind of change my future due to my career choice.
@Silvoleon -- yes it works well for astigmatism. The Bates model indicates that the six muscles around the eyes strain in various ways to create various conditions, and this approach uses relaxation and gentle reactivation techniques to help those muscles relax and let go.
@ehoewee Can you do this if you have type 1 diabetes? Yes, definitely. You already know that exercise, better diet, and less stress are helpful. The eyes and vision can steal a lot of energy all through the body if you are straining to see. Vision is a huge part of our neurological expression as we interact with the world. The Bates Method helps to dissolve this strain. Most people who improve their eyesight with the Bates Method also find other symptoms improving as well.
What sort of exercises will help my eyes line up exact? I have cerebellum damage and have gone through lots of therapy in the past.... and starting to think the therapy weakened my eyes; right eye looks up and left eye looks down somewhat... both look somewhat inward...I don't want this to get any worse...
@letsgetinshape - Consider this... what if your brain feels a bit wary that it might get hurt again. Some energy healing approaches would suggest a lot of deep breathing exercises and visualizations to help the cells let go of that fear, or strain, or tightness that inhibits natural function. The Bates techniques are good for this because they are so relaxing. Also check out simple and powerful approaches like EFT. Constantly imagine your eyes feeling safe, relaxed and easily seeing straight.
@ulfan1995 - Yes, you are encouraging and allowing your eyes to remember their natural relaxed way of seeing. Usually this takes time because it is such a strong habit to strain the vision. But sometimes people have an "aha" and a sudden improvement, where the mind and muscles suddenly remember how to relax.
I am "cockeyed" and i kind of hate talking to people and they keep looking to the sides to see if im talking to someone else! So im gunna try this but i was gunna say my left eye is like -14 or idk but really bad & my right is like -4 but please send me a personal message explaining this and ill look at my contacts case and see the numbers because the -14 & -4 were estimated guesses! Thanks!
@Musicmixer1994 -- it sounds like your eyes have very different strength prescription. get a trusted friend to talk to you while you wear a patch over your better eye, then your weaker eye will go right to them. (you probably know this). talk and enjoy the eye contact for a couple of minutes, then without the patch for just a few seconds. "talk" to your eye kindly as if you were talking to a child. encourage it, praise it, thank it. send it your love. contact me thru website above if you like.
In 2004 the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) published a review of various research regarding "visual training" (or the "Bates method), which consisted of "eye exercises, muscle relaxation techniques, biofeedback, eye patches, or eye massages", "alone or in combinations". No evidence was found that such techniques could objectively benefit eyesight. Google it and see for yourself.
@semasiologistics -- It's a strange world. Many things that are claimed to be so, are not so. And many things that are claimed to be not true, are true. Almost always a study will reveal exactly what the researcher wants it to reveal. Many people have done many things that studies say can't be done, including healing their eyesight. I am an engineer and in my early years did research studies. It was baffling and amusing and troubling how easy it was to fool myself with REAL data.
@naturalsight How true. All of these "studies" are usually paid for by those that WANT us to continue to use their products (opthamalogy is a business. Good eyes, no money). Its sick.
@semasiologistics Oh come on, the AAO would loose billions if kids were taught simple vision exercises instead of having expensive eyeglasses slapped on their faces for the rest of their life. I don't find sources that have a HUGE vested interest in maintaining the status quo to be realiable sources of information.
@semasiologistics sir if it was accepted then would pay to the billion dollar medical industry? who would pay for glasses? medicines? doctors? 6 year of college? if you keep believing in the media you will not get anywhere sir.
can someone tell me what isit when your eyesight is blocked by millions of like colourful dots and shapes like as if u just looked at a flashlight? iv complained to opticions since i was 10 but they give me tests ad i pass them with ease but my vision is getting more blured every year
@88bluebirds -- here is one thought about the "colorful dots and shapes" that are so annoying in your vision... when that happened to me teenage through mid-20's it turned out to be mostly because I was eating a diet with too much sugar and was not getting enough exercise. If you want inspiration read the book "sugar blues" written in the 1970's -- it will give you the understanding and the resolve to change what you eat. You will feel SO MUCH happier and more alive if this is relevant for you.
@IdentityHero -- Yes your eyes can heal. Remember as a natural process that the cells of the eyes are replaced every 48 hours. Discard your ideas that you have screwed up your eyes, because these thoughts affect your vision. Now imagine, pretend, that you are seeing clearly. Even as you pretend to see clearly you will notice a feeling of relaxation in your face and shoulders. And eyes. Do this again and again and again all day every day, until it becomes natural.
i was a little bit sceptical at the beginning , like you and everybody , but when i began to relax and felt better in my body , i was sur that it could be possible . Improve my body , so why not improve my eyes ?
I thought ;)
i will post again when i 'll totally improve my vision :)
@1MeKilla1 and flymilad93 : yes , i'm really serious , i don't want to joke about this ! i don't know if it works for everybody but i doubt that it can't , because i have got myopia until i'm 6 years old , and every doctors always told me that improving my vision is not possible because my eyes are too long , and i have got the real myopia ...
@gottagota are you serieus ? because im -7 and -5.75 and i would really like too correct that ! what did yoy doo please send me a personal message tahnk you verry much .
recently i noticed for te past 4(?) months that my eyesight is getting blurrier at an alarming speed... I dont know if using the internet is the ause... but i know people who use the computer waaaay longer than me but their eyesight is perfect vision... will you please explain why??? and what should I do to prevent the worsening of my eyesight...
@lukangel -- COMPUTERS AND EYESIGHT! No doubt it is better on many levels not to stare at a computer all day. But you can preserve good eyesight even at your computer. Try this... Notice you are holding muscles all through your chest, neck, & shoulders, and that you are holding your breath. Now challenge yourself to relax some of these tight muscles - breathe and blink also - while you continue to surf the web. After 5 minutes you will feel much happier and notice that your vision is more clear.
Do the palming I noticed something! Before doing the palming it always seems like my eye muscles are staining to move my eyes. Almost like they are all tensed up and fighting each other. After doing the palming exercise there is less muscle strain when looking up down left right. Try it! There might be something to this
i woke up this morning and my eyes were blurring long distance..i have been reading glasses for a while now...but my long distance vision has been clear. I don't like it at all..so i am going to try to relax my eyes... any more suggestions?
@Bearsmell -- yes it will improve nearsightedness. But don't get lost in internet searches about whether it works, instead prove it to yourself. Watch the video again to absorb the technique of palming. First remove your glasses or contacts. Next find some text like a book or magazine or on your computer monitor that is such a size and distance to be somewhat blurry. Then palm for 5 or ten minutes, and notice the text is more clear, or less blurry. Then decide if you want to dive in deeper.
Nice video, here try this. Warm up a cloth in warm\hot water and put against eyes without applying too much pressure. This brings fresh blood to eyes, eliminates toxins, increases elasticity, prevents cancer & diseases, and improves vision significantly. This beats every eye exercise...
@MrRedflame2010 Well my left eye is kind of blurry but not too blurry to not read. Can this method help restore my eyesight? my right eye is still in good shape
@WillThePlank -- a couple of thoughts on how the pressing of your eye might make things sharper: 1. could be the eyelashes coming over the pupil which helps to direct the visual pathway more centrally. 2. for some reason the pressing may be causing relaxation of the eye muscles. 3. you might be changing the shape (and the focal length) of the eye momentarily. Consider letting any one of these possible reasons be a hint that your vision can be different, that it can improve.
I'm sure hoping there's something to this. My daughter has been in glasses since 18 months for strabismus, and is now almost 14. A year ago, she was given a green light to stop wearing glasses - but this school year, can't see while doing her school / homework. The opthamologist says she's not a candidate for glasses, since it could undo the work done up to now to fix the crossing. She's upset, and worried about being able to keep up in school. I'm hoping this gives her the help she needs.
@UechiWomanBlackBelt -- sorry for the slow reply, and hope that you have found some more natural help for your daughter's strabismus. You can click on naturalsight above and contact me through my website if you like, for some more suggestions. Just remember, the keys are relaxation of the mind and eyes, and easy movement of one's attention. Vision is analogous to your memory. When you strain it is hard to remember, but later the memory comes back effortlessly.
i have about -2 on both eyes and I am willing to get my vision back to normal before it is too late. does bates method actually work ? some people say it works others say it dont. please i need some proof or motivation to start doing these exercises!
hey good vid, i am really wanting to improve my vision, lots of people tell me it doesnt work, does any1 know if it definatly works or not cause if it does i really want 2 try it
@naturalsight Yes, I guessed that much! :D So many things to work on!! But all related I guess . . . I didn't know that that the muscles responsible for turning the eye were the same ones for focus. Knowing that alone I think has really tuned me in . . .
@ryandvan - very good! It doesn't even matter so much if your idea of the workings of the eye is exactly right. MUCH more important is to feel things just as you are doing now, and notice subtle differences that happen when your vision improves. That is the easy way, and much more fun. Best wishes with it!
The breathing technique makes me feel very dizzy and light headed each time. i have a low pulse and heart rate so maybe it got someting to do with this. is it possible to relax my strained muscles in a diffrent way. I especially feel dizzy after palming.
@XxXcherry007 -- Some people have used the Bates techniques in sort of a "homeopathic" fashion. People with extremely sun sensitive eyes have reversed that sensitivity in just a few weeks with sunning. People with aversion to movement have dissolved it with the Bates swing. They went gently into these techniques, gradually retraining their mind-body to make a shift. Breathing and palming may be such an opportunity for you? Of course, this is anecdotal, not medical advice in any sense!
both my eyes are -2 but am seeing fluctuations in my vision. however they dont seem to last so my question is how can i increase this? also when doing deep breating i experience some pain in my sides and back. and tight feelin of shoulders and back. is this because i dont have the right posture? or the fact that my muscles are strained? I stopped wearing lenses completly and can manage although its difficult in school. Tnx for your advice and video btw its realy helpful!!
@XxXcherry007 - To retain clarity longer, do the activities with an increasing sense that the eyes are vibrating, sparkling; keep your vision moving. To address the tightness in the shoulders & back AND practice deeper breathing together, check out "The Fountain of Youth" by Peter Kelder. It has a set of 5 dynamic movements I found really helpful. They are supposed to be based in Tibetan Buddhism, providing good posture without thinking about it, and many people report CLEARER EYESIGHT too.
@MrRadioRage - originally Dr. Bates was emphatic that a person should throw away their glasses or it could never work. But he softened on this as he saw a more moderate approach working. Natural vision teachers ever since have tended to suggest a middle path. Be legal for driving, and even keep around full strength glasses for times you need them to feel safe. Otherwise go without glasses or with the lowest prescription that works for what you are doing. Give your eyes a chance to stretch!
I have found that my biggest improvement was with night vision. Where the lines before my exercises at night would be almost crisscrossing, I now can drive at night without this problem
@SonjaHelga - Wow, that's great that you've gotten back your night vision! A lot of people assume that night vision is just simple physics + biochemistry. Either a person's night vision works, or it doesn't work. But there are so many people like you that find it improving. Incredibly, some people have even ceased to be colorblind as they teach their mind to be interested in color distinctions along with Bates techniques.
@eastcoaster54 - I understand your skepticism about colorblindness. The Leading Bates teachers Margaret Corbett and Clara Hackett worked with a lot of pilots in WWII, and found quite by accident that some of them had colorblindness improve. Hackett then became more systematic and developed routines to foster more interest and awareness in colors, with increasing success. Kind of like Tom Brown (The Tracker) teaching people to notice "what is out of place" in the woods.
@animalman1122 - true, for some people nearsightedness improves over time. But I think more common is if someone first gets glasses in grade school or junior high, their sight will continue to get worse into their 20's or 30's then level off. Or in many cases slowly continue to decline. Of course the Bates Model for this is that a person is sliding deeper and deeper into the abyss of visual strain.
Glasses ruined my eyesight, thanks to retarded docs. I'm doing very simple eye moving exercises everyday though, and it's getting better.
Glasses, and especially contact lenses, just make your eyes worse. And people don't wonder why they always have to buy stronger and stronger glasses...
@kageromaru - It sounds like you are on the right track. Movement is indeed the key, it unlocks the frozen vision. It seems inevitable that any culture would discover and utilize the ability of glasses to sharpen vision. According to Dr. Bates, any glasses reinforce straining, but I think many doctors don't realize how they accelerate poorer vision by giving even stronger prescriptions than really needed.
@kageromaru tell me about it. they made my sight alotttt worse aswell ever since i started wearing those damm things. good things i found out about natural improvement. not fully there yet though.
Wow i am very interested in this! I watched Dr. Mercolas video about the Bates method and i would really like to try this.
I'm 19 years old and have been wearing glasses since i was about the age of 4. My vision is ideal in my left eye, but very poor in my right eye, and i am also partially colorblind.
Would this method actualy be able to correct my right eye? and i would guess that if my right eye got better, then i would improve on my color vision.
@FudgeBison - Your enthusiasm and optimism about it are great! They are such an important part of the mix. Something in you knows it is possible, and you are right. With the difference between the eyes, you will want to do activities with each eye separately, and with them together. Fusion activities will be helpful. You are very insightful, yes, the color vision tends to improve along with it.. please check out my website for more info. Best wishes!!! Greg
@tobeinformed - I think so. I have seen many people look younger as they let go of the strain (face, neck, shoulders, back, etc.) that is always present with blurry eyesight. I think this is likewise true when people with "heart disease" or a "bad back" naturally reverse these conditions. Our western culture ages us fast because we don't know how to feel at peace with our lives.
Improving eyesight (or other health condition) invites letting go of some stress, so this is a good thing!!!
@DNMalik - The first step is to get some confidence that it is possible. (The mind is elusive, and hard core skepticism can prevent any improvement). Read the QUICK VISION SHARPENER just four comments down and try it. As you start to have faith that your eyes can improve, only then look for the tips you are asking about. Check out my website (see link above) and look for other resources. Key tip - If you try to "force" your eyes to see better this whole process will fail. Relax them!
could this improve my vision even if I already had lasik surgery? could it get ride of the glaring, halos, and starburst I see at nite after lasik surgery?
@Tsquare28 - Yes, many people have improved either near vision or far vision after lasik. As for the glaring, halos, and rainbows, visualize the "flap" from the surgery mending and healing and resolving itself in all appropriate ways. Do this while you are palming. This can help even if the lasik was years ago. If you are comfortable with colloidal silver (do some web searches), consider also using some MSM + colloidal silver eyedrops. Or just use MSM eyedrops.
@unknownsungod3 - It seems incredible, but the only difference between very blurry and very clear vision is the matter of unfreezing your eyes, and all the parts of your body and brain that participate in vision. These are just habits. Please visit my website for articles about improving extreme nearsightedness, and also programs to help you let in this notion of relaxing your vision. Most people with very high prescriptions cannot believe at first that they must do things in an easier way.
I'm a 'linear' thinker too, and although the idea of relaxing the muscles sounds good for eyes and overall well-being, I've always wondered about something. It sounds like a trick question, but why don't I see more clearly just by taking a muscle relaxant if blurry vision is the result of tense muscles?
@mcclure1977 - Excellent point! I noticed years ago that my vision was always better the day after I drank beer. But ultimate mind-body relaxation always includes a sort of attention at the same time; ironically the mind can't honestly relax without it. It's like the way a cat is so attentively relaxed when it pursues prey. Or another analogy I like, is a gyroscope that is glued in a standing position versus one that is powerfully spinning. A muscle relaxant can't provide this vitality.
so should i keep doing it if i keep feeling relaxed after i put strain on the eyes or no ill give a try when i have a migrane and you were right about the neck and shoulder thing
@masterofthekeyblade - yes, it sounds like your approach is working. Good, glad you find the neck and shoulder involvement in blurry eyesight to be true!
Hey naturaIsight I need your help I hate wearing my glasses Used to wear contact lenses. Which is the stupidest thing I did. Am nearsighted -2.50 on both eyes. Is their any hope for my eyes to get to -1.50 I will gladly be happy if there is hope. I always think about my eyes , which is a bad thing I need to relax. I don't care if I need glasses just want that -1.50 look makes me look smart :)
hi eddiegetsbuff - hey, you could look online to find some clear glasses with no prescription. Then you could look smart without forcing your eyes to strain! As for improving your eyesight, YES! You can do it. Don't worry about having worn contacts, you didn't ruin your eyes. Your vision wants to relax and see clearly, and still remembers how to do it. Go without glasses whenever it's comfortable (not for driving!) and keep your visual attention moving. You'll be pleased with the what happens.
hi masterofthekeyblade - Great question. Generally I'd say don't strain.... but, sometimes a technique with alternating strain and relaxation does lead to a much deeper letting go of tight muscles. It seems to help the mind feel more confident that it knows the pathway to letting go. Especially when someone is really stuck with something, it can help "dislodge" it. For instance, tightening then releasing works amazingly well for migraines.
I just ordered a book from leo angart wich also teaches some methods from bates...my question to the whole deal is: is it possible to restore the eysight (doesnt have to be a fully recovery) from a severe nearsight like -10 or -11???
Like to -7 or -5....this whole natural eysight improvement really sounds like a miracle....but im willing to give it a try....wearing glasses since im 7 years old...
Hi Porly62 - Leo Angart indicates that most of his improvement came from Pranic Healing (a bit like Reiki) and NLP (where you regress back to when you had clear vision and then "bring it back" with you). But his book also gives a lot of Bates-style techniques too. Yes, absolutely you can improve your sight. Your biggest landmine will be your desire to do things perfectly (a high nearsighted trait)... eyesight requires exactly the opposite!!! Proceed faithfully and quite imperfectly. & Breathe!
hi i have a blurry eyes i was recommended to use glasses for blackboard etc. just this week but i found out that there is a natural way to cure nearsighted vision because i don't want that my eyes will be lazy & depend on glasses and I'm looking forward to this natural way to cure nearsighted .. :))
hi maerhe18 - you are in the perfect position. Your blurry sight is a new thing and you don't like it at all. You are motivated and you know it's not right for your sight to be blurry. As you proceed, get yourself into an excited and enthusiastic state of mind. Don't discuss it with anyone (especially an eye doctor) who will try to make your doubt yourself. Good luck!
i'm only 13 but i have really bad vision i train my body alot so i strain my eyes to use explosive power in my rugby training so my eyesight is really bad i have +0.72 on my right eye and +0.78 on my left eye if you have a way to fix my vision to 20/20 please inform me i am really into recovering my vision i've been using palming and mental relaxation for about a few days but i have no effects on my eyes just a bit relaxed so please :( help me
Hi natural sight, i wear specs since the age of 5 and now wearing contact lenses of -8.00point for both eyes since 3 years .I bought a book online written by Dave Brinkley for improving vision naturally which has a number of eye excersies.I am doing it frequently but not daily.I am desperately looking forward to throw away my glasses and contacts. Please i need help.
hi roserise4, Dave Brinkley's book has a very encouraging tone which is great. Take his 1 page about belief and expand it by applying affirmations and law of attraction to help upgrade your beliefs about your vision. He omits mention of childhood emotions like fear, humiliation, and feeling judged, which I think are always behind extreme nearsightedness. Deep breathing, EFT, meditation, etc. can help. And in the center of it all, go deeply into the Bates techniques. Check out my CD programs too!
@naturalsight , thanks sir for the positive reply as i was deeply in depression I will surely follow the Bates tech. and where i could find your CD ..I have one more problem .I had cryopexy in my right eye in past to close a hole in retina and also i get a sticky white fluid all the time which i have to pull out from within the eyelids or they keep coming and hinder my vision .Thanks once again
FIND CD's - follow the link above for VisionImprovementCenter
CRYO - just send your retina healing thoughts and don't dwell on it
STICKY eye fluid - sunning is very helpful, also alternate hot & cold washcloths over eyes, 30 seconds each for maybe 5 minutes total. also reduce wheat and sugar.
LOOK ahead and see yourself getting past these things. If you think about them too much it keeps them around :-)
I'm on the computer probably 10-12 hours a day. About a month ago, I began experiencing sharp eye pain and occasional burning behind and around the eyes, mostly right. An optometrist diagnosed computer eye strain and prescribed computer glasses. After 3 days, the frequency of the pain has lessened, but it still persists overall. I have a history with stress-related physical issues. Will this method help with computer eye strain? My livelihood depends on the computer. Thanks for any advice.
It's funny you mention Sarno. I HAVE read his books and they've been very helpful for understanding other issues. I'm going through a lot of stress right now and have been wondering if this is another example of his "TMS" syndrome. My guess is yes. I know, too much computer. I do graphic design by day, video-editing by night. I enjoy creating but hate this eye pain, so I'm trying to listen to my body. I'll check out your suggestions and research the Bates model more. Thanks!
Hi Eiledon100, very cool that you have read Sarno's books. Maybe you are also familiar with things like EFT and some of the "law of attraction" philosophy that's become so popular. I think they are both magical and give great results if one can set aside skepticism. And the Bates techniques dive right into the middle of the whole TMS syndrome, as you have suspected. Try palming, swinging, and EFT just on the eye pain, they will help.
Boy, the Eye is quite a fascinating and complex yet fragile organ aint it. Can anybody tell me what are these things that I see floating in my vision? It randomly happens but I just wanna make sure its normal or something. One more thing, Ive got a new pair of glasses and it stings my eye a bit when I wear it. Should I stop wearing it? Thnks.
1. FLOATERS - they are usually debris floating in your vitreous, and will clean out as you relax your vision and improve your vision. Improved diet will help. Eye supplements may help.
2. DISCOMFORT WITH NEW GLASSES - I see evidence some people have worse sight from straining to see at the eye doctor's. They may get glasses that are too strong. Also some doctors prescribe "high". If you go back, relax while being re-tested and ask for the lowest 20/20 prescription, or 20/25.
Hi axiaa27, Wow - I like your instincts about glasses! (Be sure you are safe for driving though.) Investigate the Bates Method. You should be able to get "FLASHES" OF CLARITY AFTER PALMING JUST A FEW MINUTES. This is pivotal because it will build faith in both your eyes, and the Bates Method as an approach to get back to clarity. Maybe in a few months if you can get yourself very excited and motivated, set all doubts aside. Check out my website above for more help.
axiaa27, P.S. - please don't think of your eyes as being -2.5, instead think of your mental strain as creating the -2.5 prescription. Think of your eyes as perfect, waiting for you to use them in a relaxed natural way!
I've read alot of books about natural sight improvement but I never really practise it. My sight is almost 6 years -2,50 and I never wore glasses, only one day. When I wear glasses the world looks different to me, it's so clear. I will practise the pricipes of the bates method now hopefully. Do you think my vision can return in 2 months if I really put my effort in it?
Hi axiaa27, Yes, it is possible in 2 months, but not with EFFORT! Passion, yes. Excitement, yes. Attention, yes. Faith, yes. Persistence, yes. Effort, no!!! Effort to see is what created nearsightedness in the first place. People who need to pass a vision test to be a pilot have the best success at improving their eyesight quickly. Put yourself in their shoes, and feel why this is true!
Hello, im 17 years old and im nearsighted. The more i look further the more blurred it gets. But only with words. I never wore glasses and never wanted it. Having no glasses didnt affect my daily life. But i would like to improve my eyes to back at the younger years. So i would like to have some tips about this. Thank you!
1. You say only words in the distance are blurred. This means your sight is good! Find out how you look at the tree, and learn look at the words in the same way. (with relaxation, movement, breathing, etc.)
2. Dive into the Bates Method enough to restore your faith in your distance vision. (Make sure you are legal to drive, 20/40 or better vision which you likely do have). Consider getting my simpler program, "Better Eyesight Now - The Basics".
Continuous palming or partial palming in a day more effective?
30hsman 2 weeks ago

TheThruth27 2 weeks ago
@TheThruth27 -- If you have been under a lot of stress your eyes may be showing it. Notice something a bit blurry, then do Bates palming for a few minutes. Look again it will be more clear. This will give you faith that your eyes are fine. Dive into other Bates techniques. Avoid treating them as eye exercises, instead think of them as yoga and meditation. If the change is so recent it should just take a couple weeks to get back. Let go of the stress that caused it.

I'm 18.I'm -2.25 nearsighted with -1.25 astimatism in both eyes. How long it takes for me to regain 20/20 vision with bates method?
30hsman 2 weeks ago
@30hsman -- For you 20/20 in 2 to 6 months perhaps. To make fastest progress only use full strength glasses when needed (e.g. driving). Tell your eye doctor you want some weaker reading glasses, they will probably cover most of your glasses needs. Go without glasses as much as you can.Enthusiasm, excitement, and constant "shifting" through the day are ESSENTIAL. This is relaxation, not work, but it takes constant attention. Your mind will be sharper and happier. visit bettereyesightnow

How do I get rid of neck strain? And how do I avoid them? Thank you
CopEmRetros 2 weeks ago
@CopEmRetros -- The Bates Long Swing should help. But, go much slower than you think. Put on some music that's relaxing that you really like. Experiment with the notion of letting yourself BE moved rather than making your self move back and forth. Let your gaze slip along the horizon. [Bates Long Swing: Feet shoulder width apart, Rotate from your hips and ankles to the left & right, alternating. Let your face and head slightly lead the turn each way. Smile. Let your shoulders drop.]
naturalsight 2 weeks ago
How effective is palming if you constantly have cold and clamy hands? Is the palming motion enough to get any benefit out of palming without the warmth to further relax your eyes?
forbiddenfollies 2 weeks ago

CopEmRetros 3 weeks ago
@CopEmRetros -- sounds like great progress with how your eyes FEEL. Now to get your eyes to see more clearly... Do you mean you are doing convergence? Be careful, it is easy to do this in a way that uses effort rather than ease. Same with "eye movements" -- it is really much better to move your head and let your eyes come along. Your neck is likely tight. If so, find a way to do the techniques that causes your neck to relax. Yes, continue! Flow. Ease. Happy eyes. Don't work at it.
naturalsight 3 weeks ago
@naturalsight divergence-looking at a far sight beyond my finger. and ive been having some neck strain. does neck do anything with your eyes that is major?
CopEmRetros 2 weeks ago
@CopEmRetros -- Blurry eyesight of any sort involves the neck. If the neck strain gets better your eyesight should improve; if your eyesight improves something will have eased up in your neck. ["Divergence"...Really you are "converging" to a distant spot and lightly notice the illusion of two fingers diverging up close. This is a wonderful way to relax and extend your near-far focusing IF you are relaxed and not straining. Focus on your finger, then distance, keep repeating.]

runescapeglicthes 4 weeks ago

Right?
BroCology 1 month ago
@BroCology -- It's surprising how much energy it takes to keep vision blurry. You will discover the blur is accompanied by tightness in the chest, neck, shoulders, and face. Any of the natural vision techniques will dissolve all these things together. Yes, meditation is splendid, but it will be best if you proceed with a smile and don't get over-serious about it. Go without glasses when you can, wear them when you drive!!! consider reduced glasses and pinhole glasses too.

@edine9595 --that's great, and unusual that they would not recommend glasses for -1. Yes these methods will help clear your vision and take care of dry eyes. Go to my website bettereyesightnow and follow one of the free audios. Do pinhole glasses help myopia ?
AHMADF93 2 months ago
@AHMADF93 Great question, do pinhole glasses help nearsightedness. Opinions vary but I feel sure they do help. I have heard many people say innocently when they put them on, "wow these are so relaxing". Relaxation is at the heart of the Bates Method. Many who have improved myopia feel that pinholes glasses were a key part of their success, and some used pinholes only. Maybe in some cases they are partly a placebo, but if a placebo actually helps me I sure won't complain!
naturalsight 2 months ago
@naturalsight how often should I do eye exercise each day to improve myopia ?
AHMADF93 2 months ago
@AHMADF93 -- More important than how much, is that you feel something new and different in your eyes each time. The premise of this approach is that your established vision habits include more or less staring to the extent of your myopia. You want to replace the staring with relaxation and easy, natural movement. Your eyes feel really good when you do this. Start with 10 minutes, then 30. And renew this feeling all day as often as you can remember.

EsotericAdept 3 months ago
@EsotericAdept -- your comment is fair enough, but please understand these points are subtle and not linear for most people. Hey i was wondering how bad a -1.25 prescription is? I think I am -1.25 in right and -1.5 in left. Is this really bad?
OutragedPanda 3 months ago
@OutragedPanda -- Your prescription of -1.25 and -1.5 is not really that strong. I bet on a good day after palming your eyes for awhile you could pass or almost pass the vision test for your drivers license, which requires at least 20/40 in most US states.
naturalsight 2 months ago
@OutragedPanda No way! That's such a week prescription! My brother has that and only has a small issue with things far in the distance(which doesn't bother him since how often to do you need to use distance vision?) Personally I'm -4.75 in both eyes and literally, if any writing isn't my hand's width away from my eyes(about 5-6 inches) I will NOT be able to read it at all. You have a huge potential to fix your eyes now before it gets any worse!
forbiddenfollies 2 weeks ago
I thought the reason for far or near sightedness was the shape of the eye. If the eye isn't shaped perfectly and the focal point isn't in the right place, how can you ever see perfectly with eye exercises or not?
mattmossop 4 months ago
@mattmossop -- yes, exactly. Either the shape of the eye or the shape of the lens makes the focal point hit in front of the retina rather than on the retina. So the question is whether this is fully genetic, or whether other factors may be at play. The Bates Model says that the incredibly strong oblique muscles which wrap around the top and bottom of the eye, squeeze it into the elongated shape. This is said by Dr. Bates to come from straining to see.
naturalsight 4 months ago 3
@naturalsight Thanks for the reply. So do these methods supposedly work if the eye is misshappen due to degeneration or other genetic factors?
Also, I have a prescription of -2.25 in each eye, but only really wear glasses to drive and to watch tv (which I read on another post you said is a good thing). However I strain my eyes a lot to see by squinting (which actually works very well) when I don't wear my glasses, which I assume is a bad thing?
mattmossop 4 months ago
@mattmossop -- Yes, some people with "genetic" eye conditions have been able to reverse them. But it may be that things like posture and self-confidence have a huge influence on eyesight. It could be that the "genetic" poor eyesight passed from grandparents and parents really has more to do with learning to hold the breath and cower, in a way that cannot support clear eyesight. If so, this gives a great opportunity to appreciate what we have and make it better.
naturalsight 2 months ago
@naturalsight Ah great... thank you for your help :).
mattmossop 2 months ago
@mattmossop -- yes, that is a tricky balance. you want to go without glasses whenever you safely can do so, but you also want to avoid straining. Squinting is a type of strain. Even though it gets clearer vision in the short run, it is the wrong path to get to relaxed clear sight. Try getting some reduced prescription glasses ("computer glasses"), and also try pinhole glasses. And, see if you can befriend the blurry vision. This can really help your progress.
naturalsight 2 months ago
Thank you for this! And I have a few questions.
Can excessive computer/TV watching damage the vision or the eyes themselves?
Also, Does this method COMPLETELY AND POSITIVELY work?
And last, Is there anyway to make eyes really healthy?
Thanks for this :)
TheForeverDrums 6 months ago 2

Byniabynia 6 months ago
@Byniabynia -- It helps to have and incentive like you have, wanting to improve your eyesight for the USMC. If you will be outdoors a lot this will really help to stretch your vision. Be sure to keep looking at things in the distance. You are quite nearsighted and will notice that you presently stare at everything at once. Gradually teach yourself to look around constantly. Then after awhile practice looking around more distinctly, like at one leaf on a branch, or each corner of a window.

I'm nearsighted. can I reduce my diopter by drinking carrot juice every other? thanks in advand!^^
9angelSNSD 7 months ago
@9angelSNSD -- some people have improved their eyesight quite a bit by going on a carrot juice fast or raw foods in general. I met one fellow who said he got rid of his -3 diopter prescription just by only drinking distilled water. He believed that the impurities in regular water would plug up the blood circulation and function of the eyes. Maybe he was right, or maybe his eyes improved because he believed they should?

I think i'm doing everything right because I also got private lessons from a bates teacher here in the Netherlands. Peace.

@Mediagamerz -- I apologize for my slow reply! I hope your vision is continuing to improve. Please feel free to contact me via my website given above. If you are young and full of conviction and excitement about it, maybe you are already there. The thing to watch out for, is don't let it turn into eye exercises. Can you do the bates method if you have diabetes type 1?
ehoewee 9 months ago
@ehoewee Can you do this if you have type 1 diabetes? Yes, definitely. You already know that exercise, better diet, and less stress are helpful. The eyes and vision can steal a lot of energy all through the body if you are straining to see. Vision is a huge part of our neurological expression as we interact with the world. The Bates Method helps to dissolve this strain. Most people who improve their eyesight with the Bates Method also find other symptoms improving as well.

I have cerebellum damage and have gone through lots of therapy in the past.... and starting to think the therapy weakened my eyes; right eye looks up and left eye looks down somewhat... both look somewhat inward...I don't want this to get any worse...
letsgetinshape 10 months ago
@letsgetinshape - Consider this... what if your brain feels a bit wary that it might get hurt again. Some energy healing approaches would suggest a lot of deep breathing exercises and visualizations to help the cells let go of that fear, or strain, or tightness that inhibits natural function. The Bates techniques are good for this because they are so relaxing. Also check out simple and powerful approaches like EFT. Constantly imagine your eyes feeling safe, relaxed and easily seeing straight.
naturalsight 10 months ago
are these the exercises you do to get your vision better over time if yes please reply
ulfan1995 11 months ago
@ulfan1995 - Yes, you are encouraging and allowing your eyes to remember their natural relaxed way of seeing. Usually this takes time because it is such a strong habit to strain the vision. But sometimes people have an "aha" and a sudden improvement, where the mind and muscles suddenly remember how to relax.

88bluebirds 1 year ago
@88bluebirds -- here is one thought about the "colorful dots and shapes" that are so annoying in your vision... when that happened to me teenage through mid-20's it turned out to be mostly because I was eating a diet with too much sugar and was not getting enough exercise. If you want inspiration read the book "sugar blues" written in the 1970's -- it will give you the understanding and the resolve to change what you eat. You will feel SO MUCH happier and more alive if this is relevant for you.
naturalsight 1 year ago
@IdentityHero -- Yes your eyes can heal. Remember as a natural process that the cells of the eyes are replaced every 48 hours. Discard your ideas that you have screwed up your eyes, because these thoughts affect your vision. Now imagine, pretend, that you are seeing clearly. Even as you pretend to see clearly you will notice a feeling of relaxation in your face and shoulders. And eyes. Do this again and again and again all day every day, until it becomes natural.

recently i noticed for te past 4(?) months that my eyesight is getting blurrier at an alarming speed... I dont know if using the internet is the ause... but i know people who use the computer waaaay longer than me but their eyesight is perfect vision... will you please explain why??? and what should I do to prevent the worsening of my eyesight...
lukangel 1 year ago
@lukangel -- COMPUTERS AND EYESIGHT! No doubt it is better on many levels not to stare at a computer all day. But you can preserve good eyesight even at your computer. Try this... Notice you are holding muscles all through your chest, neck, & shoulders, and that you are holding your breath. Now challenge yourself to relax some of these tight muscles - breathe and blink also - while you continue to surf the web. After 5 minutes you will feel much happier and notice that your vision is more clear.
naturalsight 1 year ago
Do the palming I noticed something! Before doing the palming it always seems like my eye muscles are staining to move my eyes. Almost like they are all tensed up and fighting each other. After doing the palming exercise there is less muscle strain when looking up down left right. Try it! There might be something to this

i woke up this morning and my eyes were blurring long distance..i have been reading glasses for a while now...but my long distance vision has been clear. I don't like it at all..so i am going to try to relax my eyes... any more suggestions?
anointedshabeth 1 year ago
this will help nearsidedness, right?
Bearsmell 1 year ago
@Bearsmell -- yes it will improve nearsightedness. But don't get lost in internet searches about whether it works, instead prove it to yourself. Watch the video again to absorb the technique of palming. First remove your glasses or contacts. Next find some text like a book or magazine or on your computer monitor that is such a size and distance to be somewhat blurry. Then palm for 5 or ten minutes, and notice the text is more clear, or less blurry. Then decide if you want to dive in deeper.
naturalsight 1 year ago
Nice video, here try this. Warm up a cloth in warm\hot water and put against eyes without applying too much pressure. This brings fresh blood to eyes, eliminates toxins, increases elasticity, prevents cancer & diseases, and improves vision significantly. This beats every eye exercise...

When I lightly press on my eye through the top of the eyelid my sight becomes a little bit better till I let go.
WillThePlank 1 year ago

UechiWomanBlackBelt 1 year ago
@UechiWomanBlackBelt -- sorry for the slow reply, and hope that you have found some more natural help for your daughter's strabismus. You can click on naturalsight above and contact me through my website if you like, for some more suggestions. Just remember, the keys are relaxation of the mind and eyes, and easy movement of one's attention. Vision is analogous to your memory. When you strain it is hard to remember, but later the memory comes back effortlessly.

@ryandvan - Excellent! If you can remember this feeling more and more through the day you will find your eyesight improving.
naturalsight 1 year ago
@naturalsight Yes, I guessed that much! :D So many things to work on!! But all related I guess . . . I didn't know that that the muscles responsible for turning the eye were the same ones for focus. Knowing that alone I think has really tuned me in . . .
ryandvan 1 year ago
@ryandvan - very good! It doesn't even matter so much if your idea of the workings of the eye is exactly right. MUCH more important is to feel things just as you are doing now, and notice subtle differences that happen when your vision improves. That is the easy way, and much more fun. Best wishes with it!

The breathing technique makes me feel very dizzy and light headed each time. i have a low pulse and heart rate so maybe it got someting to do with this. is it possible to relax my strained muscles in a diffrent way. I especially feel dizzy after palming.
XxXcherry007 1 year ago
@XxXcherry007 -- Some people have used the Bates techniques in sort of a "homeopathic" fashion. People with extremely sun sensitive eyes have reversed that sensitivity in just a few weeks with sunning. People with aversion to movement have dissolved it with the Bates swing. They went gently into these techniques, gradually retraining their mind-body to make a shift. Breathing and palming may be such an opportunity for you? Of course, this is anecdotal, not medical advice in any sense!
naturalsight 1 year ago
both my eyes are -2 but am seeing fluctuations in my vision. however they dont seem to last so my question is how can i increase this? also when doing deep breating i experience some pain in my sides and back. and tight feelin of shoulders and back. is this because i dont have the right posture? or the fact that my muscles are strained? I stopped wearing lenses completly and can manage although its difficult in school. Tnx for your advice and video btw its realy helpful!!
XxXcherry007 1 year ago
@XxXcherry007 - To retain clarity longer, do the activities with an increasing sense that the eyes are vibrating, sparkling; keep your vision moving. To address the tightness in the shoulders & back AND practice deeper breathing together, check out "The Fountain of Youth" by Peter Kelder. It has a set of 5 dynamic movements I found really helpful. They are supposed to be based in Tibetan Buddhism, providing good posture without thinking about it, and many people report CLEARER EYESIGHT too.
naturalsight 1 year ago
@XxXcherry007 - p.s. Please do wear glasses if you drive, unless you test legal at 20/40 without them.
naturalsight 1 year ago
Should i still use glasses while the period of doing this exercises?
MrRadioRage 1 year ago
@MrRadioRage - originally Dr. Bates was emphatic that a person should throw away their glasses or it could never work. But he softened on this as he saw a more moderate approach working. Natural vision teachers ever since have tended to suggest a middle path. Be legal for driving, and even keep around full strength glasses for times you need them to feel safe. Otherwise go without glasses or with the lowest prescription that works for what you are doing. Give your eyes a chance to stretch!
naturalsight 1 year ago
I have found that my biggest improvement was with night vision. Where the lines before my exercises at night would be almost crisscrossing, I now can drive at night without this problem
SonjaHelga 1 year ago
@SonjaHelga - Wow, that's great that you've gotten back your night vision! A lot of people assume that night vision is just simple physics + biochemistry. Either a person's night vision works, or it doesn't work. But there are so many people like you that find it improving. Incredibly, some people have even ceased to be colorblind as they teach their mind to be interested in color distinctions along with Bates techniques.
naturalsight 1 year ago
@naturalsight ceased to be color blind eh? are you just making this up of the top of your head???
eastcoaster54 1 year ago
@eastcoaster54 - I understand your skepticism about colorblindness. The Leading Bates teachers Margaret Corbett and Clara Hackett worked with a lot of pilots in WWII, and found quite by accident that some of them had colorblindness improve. Hackett then became more systematic and developed routines to foster more interest and awareness in colors, with increasing success. Kind of like Tom Brown (The Tracker) teaching people to notice "what is out of place" in the woods.
naturalsight 1 year ago
Doesn't nearsightedness improve naturally with aging anyway?
animalman1122 1 year ago
@animalman1122 - true, for some people nearsightedness improves over time. But I think more common is if someone first gets glasses in grade school or junior high, their sight will continue to get worse into their 20's or 30's then level off. Or in many cases slowly continue to decline. Of course the Bates Model for this is that a person is sliding deeper and deeper into the abyss of visual strain.
naturalsight 1 year ago
Glasses ruined my eyesight, thanks to retarded docs. I'm doing very simple eye moving exercises everyday though, and it's getting better.
Glasses, and especially contact lenses, just make your eyes worse. And people don't wonder why they always have to buy stronger and stronger glasses...
kageromaru 1 year ago
@kageromaru - It sounds like you are on the right track. Movement is indeed the key, it unlocks the frozen vision. It seems inevitable that any culture would discover and utilize the ability of glasses to sharpen vision. According to Dr. Bates, any glasses reinforce straining, but I think many doctors don't realize how they accelerate poorer vision by giving even stronger prescriptions than really needed.
naturalsight 1 year ago
@kageromaru tell me about it. they made my sight alotttt worse aswell ever since i started wearing those damm things. good things i found out about natural improvement. not fully there yet though.
XxXcherry007 1 year ago
Wow i am very interested in this! I watched Dr. Mercolas video about the Bates method and i would really like to try this.
I'm 19 years old and have been wearing glasses since i was about the age of 4. My vision is ideal in my left eye, but very poor in my right eye, and i am also partially colorblind.
Would this method actualy be able to correct my right eye? and i would guess that if my right eye got better, then i would improve on my color vision.
FudgeBison 1 year ago
@FudgeBison - Your enthusiasm and optimism about it are great! They are such an important part of the mix. Something in you knows it is possible, and you are right. With the difference between the eyes, you will want to do activities with each eye separately, and with them together. Fusion activities will be helpful. You are very insightful, yes, the color vision tends to improve along with it.. please check out my website for more info. Best wishes!!! Greg

@tobeinformed - Yes, your math is correct! Good genes I guess.
naturalsight 1 year ago
@naturalsight well that is VERY impressive. Do you think it has anything to do with your work on natural vision improvement?
tobeinformed 1 year ago
@tobeinformed - I think so. I have seen many people look younger as they let go of the strain (face, neck, shoulders, back, etc.) that is always present with blurry eyesight. I think this is likewise true when people with "heart disease" or a "bad back" naturally reverse these conditions. Our western culture ages us fast because we don't know how to feel at peace with our lives.
Improving eyesight (or other health condition) invites letting go of some stress, so this is a good thing!!!

DNMalik 1 year ago

Tsquare28 1 year ago
@Tsquare28 - Yes, many people have improved either near vision or far vision after lasik. As for the glaring, halos, and rainbows, visualize the "flap" from the surgery mending and healing and resolving itself in all appropriate ways. Do this while you are palming. This can help even if the lasik was years ago. If you are comfortable with colloidal silver (do some web searches), consider also using some MSM + colloidal silver eyedrops. Or just use MSM eyedrops.

i am really nearsighted. I mean really near sighted. it's not just a little bit blurry its a very blurry. Even looking 2 feet away is blurry.
unknownsungod3 1 year ago
hi @unknownsungod3 - Yes, this approach works for extreme nearsightedness. To tease your sense of possibility, try this QUICK VISION SHARPENER:
1. Look at something blurry but readable without your glasses
2. Close your eyes, let them begin to be deeply relaxed
3. Pretend your closed eyes are lightly strumming the letters like a guitar string
4. Continue a moment till it feels really relaxed
5. Open your eyes, blink a few times, notice letters are clearer
6. Realize even a small change is big!!
naturalsight 1 year ago
@naturalsight thanks
unknownsungod3 1 year ago
@unknownsungod3 - It seems incredible, but the only difference between very blurry and very clear vision is the matter of unfreezing your eyes, and all the parts of your body and brain that participate in vision. These are just habits. Please visit my website for articles about improving extreme nearsightedness, and also programs to help you let in this notion of relaxing your vision. Most people with very high prescriptions cannot believe at first that they must do things in an easier way.

I'm a 'linear' thinker too, and although the idea of relaxing the muscles sounds good for eyes and overall well-being, I've always wondered about something. It sounds like a trick question, but why don't I see more clearly just by taking a muscle relaxant if blurry vision is the result of tense muscles?
mcclure1977 1 year ago
@mcclure1977 - Excellent point! I noticed years ago that my vision was always better the day after I drank beer. But ultimate mind-body relaxation always includes a sort of attention at the same time; ironically the mind can't honestly relax without it. It's like the way a cat is so attentively relaxed when it pursues prey. Or another analogy I like, is a gyroscope that is glued in a standing position versus one that is powerfully spinning. A muscle relaxant can't provide this vitality.
naturalsight 1 year ago
so should i keep doing it if i keep feeling relaxed after i put strain on the eyes or no ill give a try when i have a migrane and you were right about the neck and shoulder thing

I don't care if I need glasses just want that -1.50 look makes me look smart :)
eddiegetsbuff 1 year ago
hi eddiegetsbuff - hey, you could look online to find some clear glasses with no prescription. You'll be pleased with the what happens.
naturalsight 1 year ago
doing the exercise where im putting strain then relaxing actually feels good but should intentionally try to be putting strain?
masterofthekeyblade 1 year ago
hi masterofthekeyblade - Great question.

Porly62 1 year ago
Hi Porly62 - Leo Angart indicates that most of his improvement came from Pranic Healing (a bit like Reiki) and NLP (where you regress back to when you had clear vision and then "bring it back" with you). But his book also gives a lot of Bates-style techniques too. Yes, absolutely you can improve your sight. Your biggest landmine will be your desire to do things perfectly (a high nearsighted trait)... eyesight requires exactly the opposite!!! Proceed faithfully and quite imperfectly. & Breathe!

roserise4 1 year ago
hi roserise4, Dave Brinkley's book has a very encouraging tone which is great. Check out my CD programs too!
naturalsight 1 year ago
@naturalsight , thanks sir for the positive reply as i was deeply in depression I will surely follow the Bates tech. and where i could find your CD ..I have one more problem .I had cryopexy in my right eye in past to close a hole in retina and also i get a sticky white fluid all the time which i have to pull out from within the eyelids or they keep coming and hinder my vision .Thanks once again
roserise4 1 year ago
Hi roserise4, some comments:

Eiledon100 1 year ago
Hi Eildon100, Ha-ha, one thing to seriously ask yourself... where is my life really headed with 10-12 hours per day on the computer. But meantime:
1. Read the Mind-Body Connection by John Sarno, very much like the Bates model of how strain causes most problems.
2. Every hour, take 10 deep breaths. You don't even have to stop working. This will work wonders.
3. See my website. You may find help from the guided visualizations in "Relax Your Way to Clearer Sight". It will relax your whole being.
naturalsight 1 year ago
@naturalsight
Thanks!
Eiledon100 1 year ago

Thnks.
cybrid37 1 year ago
Hi cybrid37,

Hi,
I have -2,5 eyes. I never wear glasses because I always thought it was bad for you.
How long will it take before I can take them off?
axiaa27 1 year ago
Hi axiaa27, Wow - I like your instincts about glasses! (Be sure you are safe for driving though.) Investigate the Bates Method. You should be able to get "FLASHES" OF CLARITY AFTER PALMING JUST A FEW MINUTES. This is pivotal because it will build faith in both your eyes, and the Bates Method as an approach to get back to clarity. Maybe in a few months if you can get yourself very excited and motivated, set all doubts aside. Check out my website above for more help.
naturalsight 1 year ago
axiaa27, P.S. - please don't think of your eyes as being -2.5, instead think of your mental strain as creating the -2.5 prescription. Think of your eyes as perfect, waiting for you to use them in a relaxed natural way!
naturalsight 1 year ago
I've read alot of books about natural sight improvement but I never really practise it. My sight is almost 6 years -2,50 and I never wore glasses, only one day. When I wear glasses the world looks different to me, it's so clear. I will practise the pricipes of the bates method now hopefully. Do you think my vision can return in 2 months if I really put my effort in it?
axiaa27 1 year ago

Hi SwySwarah, Great questions!
