  • My fav band of ALL TIME!!!! Words can not express how i feel when i listen to them :/

  • love this song :)

  • Dont now how many versions on who Eldritch means with "ill be damned if love yours" ive heard, who is his girlfriends boyfriend seems to be a hard nut to crack?

  • Wish we had heard more from these guys in this direction. The early stuff is awesome, but this stripped down approach and more down to earth vocals had it's appeal to. Also very great lyrics, and ironically funny in their way too

  • Brings you back to Earth..

  • showwwwwwww

  • daumen hoch....... sind und bleiben die besten

  • It takes a big man to admit he was wrong. ;)

  • i love this song one of my favs thanks

  • time is never time at all. Two years and no comments. I love these guys.

and girl. girls? What do I know. I could be WRONG.

thanks for tubing this so I can hear it.

  • You say stay and never leave ... You say meant for ever

I could believe you, but I don't ... You say we're almost all alone together

    All alone ... You say

You say you will ... I know you won't

I was wrong... I was wrong to ever doubt

    I can get along without

I can love my fellow man... But I'm damned if I'll love yours

  • In a bar that's always closing

In a world where people shout

I don't wanna talk this over

I don't wanna talk it out

I was quite impressed until I hit the floor

Isn't that what friends are for?

Pain looks great on other people

    That's what they're for

  • wow..i really see that this song has a melody very similar to sleep from the dandy warhols// so this is the original song that the dandy warhols took melody from???

  • nekad bilo sad se spominjalo .

    Good thing!

  • Good Old Classic..

  • For me.. this song is nothing short of a miracale!

And for ever it will stay that way

  • I was wrong ... to ever doubt ... ingenious!

  • wow

Y didnt I find this song earlier....? its great

  • the lyrics are great! But I don't understand the last two lines in the chours: "I can love my fellow man. But I'm damned if I love yours"..?I'm trying to find a way to understand without it sounding gay...

  • @Mumzzen imagine saying it to an ex-girlfriend with whom it didn't work out, but who you still love. I think that's what it refers to imho

  • @Budukhong I still don't get it..he is saying (in another way) "Im damned if I love YOUR fellow man"., which is he.. then, since he is her ex boyfriend?

  • @Mumzzen "I'm all for loving my fellow man, in the biblical sense, but hell if I'm gonna love your (new) fellow man, fuck thàt guy!" This better?

  • @Budukhong yeah. That makes perfectly sence! Total Jealousy! Thank you :)

  • @Mumzzen I think your interpretation is more on target but i think songs can mean whatever the listener wants it to be.Thats whats so wonderful about music.

  • "I was quite impressed until I hit the floor

Isn't that what friends are for?

Pain looks great on other people

    That's what they're for"

DAMN! Those words hurt, but they're unfortunately true. Almost always, what makes a story more interesting is if at least one character (usually the main character) is hurting, or in a bad place.

  • wow!!thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    big smiles!

    ;)

  • loftynl, thanks for all the great uploads.

  • melhor som da banda....

    muitissimo obrigado

  • awsme song . the sisters of mercy rocks

  • Thanks, you bring back the good stuff.

  • sisters of mercy: gary marx, craig adams, wayne hussey, andrew eldritch & dr. avalanche rocked it through the halls of the psychedelic underground...first, last & always.............

  • One of best songs ever. No kiddin'!

  • why categorize music?

  • That is the best comment I ever heard.

  • BrainPsychicBabystar - was it something I said?

  • Nope, I liked what you said. I just quoted the song incorrectly in response :p I love this song

  • Poetic cynicism set to great music - in signature Eldritch style.

  • I LOVE this song. I can't find it anywhere to download/purchase, however. Anyone know?

  • its from vision thing

i think you can order it online from borders

  • Cynicism as purism!

  • Comment removed

  • Is this meant to be a negative comment? Andrew expresses his cynicism beautifully.

  • Not at all siren425. . .I'm an existentialist. Many of the early goth bands are great in their poetically nihilistic/existential/surrealistic lyrics/ imagery. Groups such as Joy Division/ the Cure/Bauhaus you know. Yes Eldrich is a master. I meant he is pure in his sincerity unlike much of the psychic vampire (read Anton LaVey)self defeating music of todays culture.

  • That was brilliantly stated.....couldn't have said it better myself.

  • I don't know why you kids call this gothic music...we called it new wave in the 80's.

  • Well I use the word 'goth" lightly you know. There's a lot of shit goth music out there so I guess thats why Andrew was vocally hostile against the term. Its just a word i use to describe music with darker themes like Death In June, Joy Division, Throbbing Gristle and even the Velvet Underground. It has nothing to do with running after a dark haired girl and getting lost in the woods. Oh unless you like the Cures song A forest, lol.

  • Many of the post punk bands were inspired by the existentialists who were obsessed with death, but in a positive sense. Mark E Smiths The Fall for example is taken from a Camus book.

  • qft and Andrew says self in interviews they never where a goth band, and that he give 2 shits about Goths haha,

    and the shadow smiles!!!

  • Patricia Morrison calls herself Gothic today...she was in the band in the late 80's.

  • to each his own i would say hehe

  • Well the founder of sisters of mercy is the same as london after midnight, and he is labeled the father of Goth

  • Gary Marx and A.Aldritch where both founders of the Sisters fyi, what wanna hear? it dosnt change my opinion, just listen to the lyrics lol, no goth at all in my opinion^^

  • Goth has very little to do with lyrics its just a style of culture modeled after the goths of ancient europe. Frankly it also has very little to do with music, if anything at all. I agree with aldritch that he should not be the father of goth. And I understand your opinion

  • andrew is bigger than any kind of music, The Sisters are a dark and cinic rock band, he thing twice before release the songs, so every songs are perfect.

  • surreal sex is all ya gotta say, nuff said baby

  • Yeah his music would fit a surrealistic sex scene, with fog as two people melt into each other and fall through the mattress. Sort of like that scene in David Lynch's Eraserhead with Henry and the woman next door.

  • Ahh a David Lynch fan, me too, however I was upset to hear of his support for that pedophile Roman Polanski, Yuk, that was not a surreal deal! I think that his (David Lynch) Laura Palmer fantasy went to his fucking head. Surreal sex can be just as satisfying as flesh to flesh, if you know how to munipulate it right in your head.Anyway peace out jonthefishboy

  • I can love my fellow man... but I'll be damned if I love you.

  • Awesome song...You say you will

    I know you won't...

  • the song they played as an "encore" when i saw them in bristol.i think i can honestly say i creamed my pants...

  • This was by far one of the best songs that Andrew ever did...

  • Best song off Vision Thing in my opinion!

  • You say you will, I know you won't

  • I could believe you but,

    I don't

  • Totally love this song!! It probably the only non-goth song of the sisters, but for sure love it!!

  • There is no pressure to rescue good music from anyone's labels. People can call it what they like... it's just good.

  • My thoughts exactly

  • Non-Goth? Sure, man.

  • Some say they are electrosynth! They can be both!

  • Well, there's a lot of argument 'bout what they are. I'm just sayin' this song isn't entirely different from their other songs.

  • They are just "Sisters"

  • Anyone got a Sister's track called "You could be the one"?

Has it on an unofficial CD called "Vision Songs" but lost it years ago

  • That's the B-side of the "More" single. You can easily get it on Ebay.

  • Cheers for that

  • Look for a copy of ''Some Boys Wander By Mistake'', it has all the B-Sides and obscurities from the 'Body And Soul EP' up to the 'More' single. Well worth hunting down!!!!

  • love love love love this song.

  • Pain looks great on other people.....

  • That's what they're for...

  • I love this song. One of my favourites ever.

  • I want this song on mp3...

    can anyone help me??

  • I can. I have it. PM me for email.

  • perfect song.

You say you will, I know you won´t...

I can love my fellow man, but I'm damned if I love yours...

  • So appropriate for the times. Then and now.

  • fucking well

  • THANK YOU!

  • my pleasure.. :)
