I got this game working, but the problem is, I can't save games. The manual says left arrow is for save, but that just moves me when I'm in space or on the ground. Anyone know how to save games?
I got this to work with Tandy sound- thanks a lot! You have to have SW1 in a root directory, not in a sub folder. And I use a front end called D.O.G. that allows me to try different things with just mouse clicks rather than going into the conf file all the time and re-editing!
@Five5six Well I set it up with D.O.G. with exactly the settings you gave and have it in the root of my D: drive and a simple Mount C D::\. I got the flashing when I had SW1 in a sub directory. I am using DOSBox 0.73 by the way. I got the fix from
@marquis0r Glad he's got a reliable way. Evidently, my copy from my old Tandy TL harddrive is configured different than the ones found on websites (file structure and all)
Very cool! Was this done through DosBox? I would love to play this myself using Tandy sound, but no matter how I configure DosBox it just doesn't work.
@giordanolahaderne You ABSOLUTELY need to set the machine to a Tandy Machine to get it to work so set the following: Under where it says [Dosbox]: language= machine=tandy captures=capture memsize=2 Under where it says '[Speaker]': tandy=on tandyrate=22050 Let me know if it works.

@Five5six Thank you very much. I thought I pushed every button...guess just not that one. Thanks for a quick response, too.

Try this on a real tandy with a CM-5 color monitor. You'll be really amazed at the graphical improvement over dosbox.

Can't post a direct link here so just google running-sentinel-worlds-on-dosbox-with-tandy-sound and you will find the Tandy fix.

@Five5six
No, it didn't work for some reason. I configured it just like that, start up DosBox, but when I start the game 2 things happen.
1. The command prompt just stays there but the screen starts flickering
2. The music starts playing, indicating that the game has started. But the music playing is just the original PC speakers music, not the Tandy.
This might be a dumb question, but do you need a Tandy version of the game itself..?
giordanolahaderne 1 year ago
@giordanolahaderne There is no tandy version of the game.
If you are getting the flashing, you don't have it set to use the Tandy setting. You can't use Dfend to open it.

I just typed: DOSBox.exe -conf "sent.conf"
Where the sent.conf is the config file I set up. I can send you the file.

Fu Schnickens?!?!? What's that all about? Nice musics though.

@mikedolan08 It's the name of a horrible hip hop group. It's what I named my ships since 1993, always makes me laugh.
Five5six 1 year ago
@Five5six You have more than one space-ship?
mikedolan08 1 year ago
@mikedolan08 the game is a billion years old, I've played through it maybe two dozen times. Usually the name is Fu Schnickens or Aurora

Amazing. This was one of my first games too (but i was very young then and never finished it, it was too complicated for my little mind).
Never heard the Tandy sound version before.
Glad to know others still play around with this game.

It's more I had to post it because I remember the music being so different than what was heard from the PC speaker.
Five5six 2 years ago
A manual config, unfortunately. I can't figure out how to blank those other lines.
Five5six 2 years ago
awesome! so you just used DOSBox with a manual config or is it possible to set this up with D-Fend eventually?
sys2074 2 years ago
@sys2074 I can't set it up through d-fend.
But this is what you need, look for:
Under where it says [Dosbox]
language=
machine=tandy
captures=capture
memsize=2
Under where it says '[Speaker]':
tandy=on
tandyrate=22050
