@AldaryLV hehe sure, but that would take much more paint to paint the bonnet, roof, trunk all door poles. + it looks so boring when the inside of doors are adifferent colour. i like the beige one, and you cant really tell its quite matte, much of the primer surface went trought so the surface is not so smooth. but im happy with it! ;)
@w124250d1992 thankyou! ;) well good enough for me. :) i've checked the ebay site and found the gummi seals! with the transport they were only 500 swedish crowns or ~ 45-50 euro for all 4! :) great tip, i thank you again!
Nice work. I see that you've bought w123 instead your grandpa's w124 which were we talking about some time ago. Are you going to restore that old W124 or not?
@strzaly yes, this w123 was owned by an ex schoolmates father and sat about 1km from my house.. :) if i hadnt bought it, the cousin to the family would have used it running around on the fields..
And yes that was the intension, i still wanna restore the 230E real bad but now my grandpa says theres no point. dunno but looking at the body its still in better cond. than my w123 was, still its been on high grass. we'll see perhaps next summer i might go there and hopefully pursuade my grandpa.. :P
I always love these old style W123 Mercedes-Benz cars, the reason why is that they're the most longest lasting cars in the world. It's one of my favorite Mercedes-Benz vehicles ever in the world. :)
@b67717 yes! ;) wouldnt be worth restoring another car this age, especially not after sitting many years. the best engineered cars ever. i was thinking of doing a trip through europe sometime in it. ;) not for certain though but i dont hecitate it would make it.
nice work and your benz really needed it it,s pretty rusty some off these w123 rust a lot and some stay nice mine was out in a field for 8 yrs and there was no bodywork at all and here in holland it raines a lot and still mine survived don,t know why all it had was a seized clutch and after towing it in gear the clutch came loose and i drove it home even still had brakes mercedes are tough love them
@thechurchowl27e yeah! it rains alot here to plus we get much snow in the winter, other cars use to get their roof flattened. but not the mercs.. :) still mine ran great only abit ceased brakes and after a while the clutch cylinder broke cus of dried out rubber.. one indicator lamp was changed for the electrics. :) just great car, my grandpa has a w124 -88 230E which been sitting almost 5 years, and still works. :) maybe gonna save it next summer..
check out my video of my W123 240D, it has been in my family since 1976 and its in really good condition, the only things thats not in perfect condition is underneath it, its a little bit oxidated, but im going to let it be fixed
@jasonvoorhees1428 Thank you! yes they do indeed. not many cars this age is worth spending money on, even newer ones, unlike mercs which are.. :) ive got vids of taking it off the field were it sat before. :)
'83 240D of mine could use some lovin but she runs fine and gets me where I need to go. Any advise on dent removal? Eventually I'm going to do similar to you and strip her down, sand her and repaint but she's got some dents (small ones) Shall I just use body filler? Great car though and she deserves it.
@TimLenhartTech Hi! yeah fillar mostly does the trick, its easy, cheap and gets good results if your skilled with filling.. :) you should really fix her up! check my other vids on how mine looked before. :)
@kain161718 if you´ve got something to say i suggest you grow up, maybe you could restore a car better and send me a vid of it? great! thanks for giving me a view.
@SirLaQ haha yeah thanks! yeah the slideshow speed adjusts to the length of the song, otherwise it would be no sound in the end of the vid, ill try to fix it better sometime its a really bad programmme..
its a lovely car, and feels great to drive very easy shifting which is unusual on a car this age (not mercedes obviously), even grandpa gave it compliments for its driving. :)
@EssexBoy696969 thank you mate! yes it took a good time and work hours, but must say it was a lot cheaper than i thought! im really satisfied with the result! :) thank you for your kind words, greetings from a very happy Merc owner! :)
nice work,240D very good car ;-)

coolakiIlen007 2 months ago

CK - you've done a brilliant job on this mate. Congratulations for ensuring that yet another W123 survives and lives on - instead of being scrapped.
I know how much time and energy (not to mention money!) that you've put into this project and I hope that you now feel rewarded for your efforts.
Once again - really well done mate. You are a star!
