Actually, the story behind Cantarella is... a lot worse than that.

Kaito and Miku grew up together, with Kaito secretly in love with Miku. Eventually, he reached his limit and "poisoned" her drink with a sleeping drought. Of course, she fell into a deep sleep.

During that time, Kaito intended to rape her. However, he realized that he loved her too much to do something that horrible to her, and he wound up crying over her. She woke up to this, realized what he had been planning, but knew that he couldn't have gone through with it. Thus she revealed her own feelings to him.
