I saw a Jay Mason clinic and apparently they told him they were going to only use audio for a demo track or something. He was unaware that this would be on youtube.
How many bass saxes are still in production or can be ordered these days? I do not suppose there is much of a selection. I have a Harwood bass sax which was made in the late 20's U.S.A.
the last time I took count it was 5 one in china, selmer, epplishiem, IW, and keilwerth. but there may be more/less since last time I really looked in to it. never heard of harwood, is it a conn or buescher stencil?
Yes, the playing is okay (though nothing really special...), but this "International Woodwind" bass sax does not sound well, sorry. Check out the old ones (Conn, Martin) or the Keilwerth, if you can!
YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!!!!!! Shut the hell up. Lets see your videos. This gu has played more sessions this week than you EVER will. JACKASS!! You go check out those those horns
Well, well... Idiots are those who make trouble on youtube anonymously, okay? And this bass sax definitely could sound better, sorry. I did not mean to harm anybody, and I said, the playing is okay. The sax, however... But anyway, pickpocket86, you are the horn specialist... Har, har.
Yep I sure am a horn Specialist... At least I dont have to tell you that. And No you have it all wrong... Idiots try and Critique musician superior to them on youtube.Which would be you so Har Har.
B/c hes playing it nicely? and not making it a beast he doesnt have the lungs? Educate yourself on Jay Mason, then you can tell ppl he doesnt know what hes doing.
@mxer6161- That's "rose room" he's playing, the changes are quite similar to "mellow tone" though...

There's a pretty good amount of them. It's not super-rare like the Contrabass. I've had the opportunity to play one. They're really fun.

actually, just because he's breathing a lot, doesn't mean he doesn't have the lungs.
In reality, many professional players breathe a lot. you should watch more closely

@marvelcraze kinda like sacraficing dynamics for tone, if u have a good amount of air, then you can have a better tone

For REAL bass-sax playing try Crackerjacks Sweet Georgia Brown. You won't believe your ears.
