I'm a piano mover, what do all you other movers get paid? I'm getting 10 per hour plus some stupid "bonus". Piano moving companies don't like to tell what movers get paid, so I'm done asking them.
Somehow it just figures, Dave...If u didn't already have a player, you were destined to own one. Of course u know if you want to fly RC planes, you gotta know how to FIX RC planes...If you want to play a player piano, u gotta know how to FIX player pianos. @maddog5461 mentioned the Reblitz book... also look into "Rebuilding the Player Piano" by Larry Givens. You can't buy many parts...You need materials...Check out Player Piano Co., Wichita, KS for them. Oh, and pump long, smooth strokes!
NightFlyyer, I have rebuilt a player piano in the past, and YES you were LUCKY to get that one working. I would GUESS that your bellows is leaking, but a player piano needs to be rebuilt every 10 to 15 years as a norm. I noticed you were pumping hard, BEFORE you try to rebuild the lower bellows, buy a book called Player piano servicing and rebuilding by Arthur Reblitz It's kinda like the Bible of player repair. Laterz, LP Piano tuning and repair.
Haha. Yeah it didnt work too well since I got it and I would love to put an electric compressor in in there instead. Ill check out that book and thanks for the tips.
Wow, are you close? This piano was given to us as a gift and I took it, even though it needs work. Figured it was worth something, eh?
I guess the bellows need fixed and it needs tuned. The guys who moved it said they could fix it, and even said I could probably fix it myself. Any truth to that and what does it cost in "ballpark" figures? Do you sell parts for this?
lol!i mean i move pianos.that piano is cool but i'd just get it tuned for about $40 to $80 i dont know the piano so i couldnt give any ballpark.look at my vids where i through pianos away
You Out To Post Some Videos Of That Player Piano Playing Songs. May I Suggest Scott Joplin's 1899 Hit The "Maple Leaf Rag?" Only One Guy Has Posted It On A Player Piano, But It Was On A Honky Tonk.
It's sad when you know how easy it is to pedal a player piano, and you watch someone pumping the pedals faster than if they were on a stairmaster during a workout. Pumping a good player is like taking a gentle walk on Sunday.
Also, the idea that moving a player requires the ability to lift 350 lbs over door jams and stairs is wrong. Whoever thinks or says that doesn't understand leverage.
This player needs work. I can hear the missing and non-repeating notes that others probably miss.
Hi! actually I think the removal me need retraining and to pay more attention to taking a lot more care!!! Did you see them bang the instrument into the door jams I think they should go back to slapping cows Also get the piano serviced soon!
It was a gift to me. I never saw any big damage to my basement door jams or the piano and dont remember any bashing. It need serviced, but no one plays, so it isn't that important to me right now to get it up to your standards.
Whew. Moving that piano is like moving your Goldwing into the house! similar weights. Those foot pedal sounds would bother my musical enjoyment. Glad you fixed the piano though.
Yep, I thought about the Wing too. It goes over bumps better, however. The sounds are not supposed to be there, if the Bellows didn't leak. That is next. All I need is a Manual on a 1909 Euphona Piano. Ha ha.
Google "player-care", and click the first link that comes up. Then click "books"(in the multicolor bar near the top), and on the books page click "Reprints of techinical manuals". Then scroll down to "Euphona Maintenance Diagram".

I own a piano moving company and this is the easiest move I have ever seen. Why not post something with a tight 180 degree turn?
