THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH FOR FREEING MILLIONS OF MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN FROM BRUTAL TYRANNY, FOR SAVING MILLIONS OF LIVES IN AFRICA FROM HIV/AIDS, FOR PROTECTING YOUR COUNTRY AND HER ALLIES, AND FOR GETTING OSAMA BIN LADEN!!!!! YOUR LEADERSHIP IS SORELY MISSED.
Yeah, all Obama has to do is screw up two wars after lying his way into one of them, let the economy collapse AGAIN, sit and read a children's book while terrorists are killing thousands of Americans, become an international pariah, and torture thousands of people, inspiring a whole new generation of terrorists.
Do you have any idea how ridiculous you people look comparing Obama to THAT after ONE YEAR? You're so biased it's insane. Check yourselves.
@Worrier316 "Hey, I voted for Obama, but he should have made THE ECONOMY the top priority over this watered down POS health care bill." amen. how are we gonna pay for it if we are all POOR?!
I also don't like some of Obama's cabinet picks and that lousy Tim Kaine as DNC Chairman. Makes me wonder if Obama is trying to sabotage the Democratic party.
I've been frustrated with Obama too. But keep in mind that he was handed a nation in tatters after a decade of disastrous rule by fanatics. Not only does he have to try and patch the country back together, but hold off the lunatics who would wreck it all over again.

STFU! That makes no fucking sense. Yes, the United States sent 4 people Bermuda So the fuck what the British apparently had to allow them in the country... They problem weren't to happy about it but they did it. Plus who do you think sent them to Guantanamo to start with? Dumbass! They were release because they were incident they shouldn't have been there to start with
.Obama pissed off Israel, there has been more progress in that region in the last 3 months then the last 10 years. Plus Israel just wants to put pressure on the United States to "asset" them in a war with Iran .
I bet you get all your information from FOX don't you DUMBASS?
Go read a book or something constructive instead of making an ass of your self on the internet.
They are? Since when were these detainees given trials? Last i heard they all have no rights and are just kept locked up with no trial. So how can they be criminals without being found guilty first?
that's right Vagatarian2000..but unfortunately politics is not what we think it is..everything we see or do in our daily lives is very much linked with the unethical thoughts of politicians...

All you people here on YouTube who have posted negative comments about President George W. Bush have been reported to the FBI. As a patriotic American conservative woman, I WILL NOT sit back and allow these negative comments to continue any longer. You anti-Bushbots have been reported for treason. Enjoy your knock on the door from the FBI, libtards!
it makes me feel warm there are still such good citizens like you man. as long as good patriotic americans like you exist the country's gonna be alright!
You don't have a good grasp of treason. It is not treason to criticize the president. He is a public servant, serving at the whim of the people. You also are not a conservative. George W. Bush was the most liberal president in the history of the U.S. Were it not for the election of a Marxist like the Obamanation, he would remain so.
Its really nice to hear a comments from a politician that doesn't have any doubletalk or a obvious cookie cutter answer to questions..Its nice to hear someone critical of imperialism and the military industrial complex and talk so openly about it on Live tv..THANKS!!!
no, bush was mediocre at best. He spent way too much and grew gov't like a liberal, and hardly ever put up a fight against the leftist scumbags in congress. I'm glad he's out of there, it's just too bad we're stuck with an afronazi for 1404 more days.
Clinton = Useless, and only added to the problems that were created by JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and Bush Sr. This problem goes back even further than that...there needs to be real change.
I honestly doubt it will even come from Obama. The people of this country are the only ones who can make that change...we can only save ourselves by organizing, agitating, and forming a solid constituency that demands real change in all aspects of the government.
i honestly feel that obama cares and that obama is a good man, but he's going up against many powerful people who simply don't want this system to change. it's far too beneficial too them
Yes, but he is the President. There are things he CAN do. His foreign policy hasn't started off very well either. He's authorized bombings on villagers at the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. His attitude against Palestine so far is quite disturbing to me as well, but not surprising. Then there are his economic advisers and cabinet choices...some of these men are actually responsible for the current economic crisis. It's kinda got me pissed to be honest, and I started as a die-hard supporter.
yes, but if he can't do anything drastic, then what's he use?..this country needs a drastic change to get it back to what it was originally meant to be. the problem is that drastic change will be fiercely objected by the rich and elite. i don't think even the president will be able to make the changes that need to be made. i doubt obama even wants to make any drastic changes anyway.
The people are the only ones that can bring about that change. History has proven that it is the mandate from the people through direct action, and consistent agitation against the system that force the government to do anything beneficial. The ruling powers resist of course...handing out some concessions her and there, but they don't do enough. It's going to eventually boil over into some sort of revolution, and I think that time is coming sooner than most think.
oh definitely. the more complacent we become, the more the government will encroach. we're letting them get away with a lot. it's a shame mike gravels idea of giving the people the ability to make laws never blossomed..ur right through, eventually there will be a revolution, but the problem is, is that it HAS to happen soon,if not, this new zombified generation certainly won't do anything about it..i think the upcoming generations are going to be the most vulnerable to a undemocratic government.
of course he is the worst/ lies lies and more lies Iraq being the mother of them all then the economic screw ups the 2 trillion dollar wars wasted lives both sides he should have been an actor in B grade movies at least he would be harmless. A man without a conscience is a fucked MAN
The difference between you and I is that I studied Soviet Russia and it's experiment with communism. More specifically I studied the relationship of Josef Stalin and his dictatorial communism vs. traditional Marxist ideologies.
I majored in Soviet Studies and have read more on socialism than you could ever dream.
The fact that there is wealth within an ideal Obama plan proves the socialist claim completely false.
lmao... the fact that theres "wealth" in an "ideal" obama plan proves nothing... all the socialist leaders promised change... and they all promised wealth for thier nation... and they all failed
wait... you studied soviet russia and it's experiment with socialism...? that's cool, now you'll get a chance to study soviet america and its experiment with socialism up close...! lmao have fun!
The nonsensical claim that socialism is imminent because of a reversing of the scale of taxes is fallacious beyond belief. Socialism is equality in spite of wealth, not wealth, poverty and middle class.
Read a book, or something. It's embarrassing watching your responses.
The efficacy of an Obama administration will be proved through it's economic tribulations.
I made no mention of the reality or efficiency of socialism, but rather it's principles which are entirely contradictory to your claims of socialism on part of the Obama administration.
Again, i don't know how many times I have to say this to you before you understand it.
I'm not making any claims about the reality of socialism. I'm not saying it works, or that equality in spite of wealth is a necessarily good ideology, as this is not the debate we are having.
I'm simply saying that socialism is equality at all costs at the risk of wealth. There is no wealth in socialism. Obama's plan is capitalism with the scale reversed. Which isn't socialism, it's capitalism.
Read your comment and thought you were a 65 years old, checked your channel and you are only 22, what a stupid punk, stop being a party Loyalist that makes you an idiot.
You have to have been an adult in the sixties for socialist to be a factor in your brain.
Now it is only a political tool to brain wash old voters, you know, trigger shit and get them mad and hatful, join your own generation stupid punk.
how can i be a party loyalist when i don't have a party? and if i did have a party... it wouldn't be either of the two major parties...
One party is full of warmongers and reluctant socialists; the other is full of socialists and reluctant warmongers - the right wing and the left wing are of the same bird
so you actually think socialism isn't a factor anymore? what... did it just go poof and disappear?
to me,this man speaks the truth,he is right on,i go even furtheer by saying this scum, bush, should be tried for crimes against humanity, worst president ever,by far.
My friend you got it all wrong, sorry to disagree with you, but here come the but, bush the clown is the result of the so called the American public! if any left, it's ignorance at it's best, it's a system that never worked, most ignorant people on this planet need dicteroship, and dicteroship come in all forms, including the commuflage of Demoncracy, you state OUR COUNTRY? our so called leaders have sold it long time ago, where have you been, all these years? too bad there's a limit typo,
40 million illegals in a country already way over populated
water running out
resources all but gone
no credibility in the world
the legacy of America dragged in the mud
now listing like the Titanic it will dip under the waves of the third world in 2009
to enter the north American Union as an underling.you have been run by gangsters that do not know how to run a country America. since the coup in 1963 when they butchered JFK in the streets like a dog
Gravel should be our president. He is very wise and fairminded and not afraid to confront our corrupt establishment. However, if he made all the changes that need to be made, it would result in a huge shift in power and wealth. Those with power and money will do ANYTHING to keep it.
Anyone that would really turn this country around would be assassinated. It's been so sad to see the decline in the quality of life in america. We're going down the toilet because of rich greedy bastards.
With Florida, George W. Bush cheated his way into the White House through assisted voter suppression. He will go down in history as the worst President of the United States.
As a Floridian who voted for in 2000, how I can EVER Forget the Disgraceful "Butterfly Ballot" (Taking advantage of Senior Citizens) in Palm Beach and Broward Counties?
Anyone who voted for the idiot Bush should NEVER be allowed to vote in any election the rest of their lives.
Half the country has always known Bush was an idiot, the other half is just fucking stupid.
Fester
PS: Bush Sucks. I hope next time he gets drunk and high on cocaine and cuts his own head off while playing cowboy with a chain saw when Crawford gets their village idiot back.
i bet something will happen in the next year that will give george bush the power to suspend elections and he will use marshall law on the american people. why else would he have got rid of the posse comitatus act. well the american people were watching britney spears on t.v the united states constitution was being pulled out from under are feet. we are entering a military police state. and it's the american people who put this nut job in office. i hope the u.s will come out ok after all this
Bush and Cheney were not only behind 9/11 they ordered it! Wake up America! This country is under siege by murdering traitors who killed innocent Americans to fulfill a diabolical agenda of sedition and tyranny!
Senator Mike Gravel talking about the Pentagon Papers in 1971: "The papers show that we have created in the last quarter century a new culture, a national security culture, protected from the influences of American life by the wall of secrecy which was created in the late 40's." I say PEOPLE, IT'S TIME WE TAKE THE WALL DOWN HERE! Do we want any more 9/11s to justify a reactionary anti-terrorist state? Is this how we want to live? Scared? or FREE?
Sad that we have to temporarily import journalists from foreign countries in order to ask intelligent questions. Even sadder that American people don't immediately recognize the most intelligent, knowledgeable and innovative President candidate.
I like Sen. Gravel (he's from my hometown, actually). He, Kucinich, and Nader have consistently been the only candidates I've agreed with anywhere close to 100% and it angers me the way the media cuts them out of public discourse.
Mike Gravel wants to abolish the Federal Reserve but he knows the President can't do it and Congress won't do it. That's why he's trying his best to get you all to listen to him. The ONLY way he can think of to get that done is to make us all lawmakers so we can make good laws and repeal bad laws. Through Congress the Federal Reserve was created and through the National Initiative and a vote of the people, it can be abolished just like the federal income tax. Hello?
Funny and nice guy... Thats great, our country is in the worst downturn since the great Depression, everyone in the rest of the world hates Bush, I can go on and on. WAKE UP! Clinton didnt do this to us, bush did.. The man couldnt run a baseball team what made us think he could run our country???
Senator Mike Gravel talking about the Pentagon Papers in 1971: "The papers show that we have created in the last quarter century a new culture, a national security culture, protected from the influences of American life by the wall of secrecy which was created in the late 40's." Logically, who should be supporting Mike's political efforts? Environmentalists who want USA off oil and gas, carbon; women and others who value human life, those who support and advocate for civil liberties like ACLU members, those who want: a new investigation of 911, truth to be told in our society, smart transportation (like mag lev trains), to see family members released from jail for a minor drug use offense, to end censorship and restore fairness in media. Come gather round, people.
I agree with you on that One. It's a real shame to admit that 99.9% of the People that live in this great Country of ours are nothing more than Blind Sheep's or as I like to call them, Corporate Toys. Mike Gravel should be President right now, damn it.
Oh and, Hillary Clinton is a freaking Liar :) But then again, she's a Clinton so her lie about her trip to Bosnia doesn't surprise Me one bit.
Also, America could be whatever Americans wanted it to be if Americans cared enough and had faith enough and would work for it...just like abortion, if you don't want to smoke pot, don't smoke it. Just don't prevent someone else from exercising their liberty to make their own choices. That to me is libertarian. Most libertarians don't differentiate between personal sphere of liberty and economic sphere. Haiti is an example of free market capitalism. Go, come back and tell me what you think.

george bush is not the worst us president in the world... if he was so bad how come he was voted in? and then re-elected in 04? huh? mike gravel, all you do is talk smack... lets face it America cant be a gay loving, pot smoking, peaceful rich country its impossible... and no one will ever change that not even you Mike Gravel or should u i say you're Maurice Robert Gravel.. you try to appease to many people ate once do yourself a favor grow a "pair" and stop being such a suck up.
Gore won the popular vote in Florida after the votes were counted...years later. In other words, exit polls were correct. Florida was stolen by George Bush's cousin at FOX (AFTER Florida was first correctly announced on TV for Gore). Other networks followed suit. Provisional ballots tossed in Ohio. Your tough guy approach is so juvenile. Does that make you feel more like a man?! A real man is a grown up with a heart. Anything else is just reptile or cow leather...neither very appealing.
Another extremely important element necessary for Fascism (also non-existant in the US) is a pervasive feeling of national humiliation and/or feelings of a country being denied it's rightful role in the world.
Together, that almost sounds like RUSSIA or CHINA. But don't trouble your mind with that. It's much more politically expedient and correct to villify and make wholly inaccurate generalisations about the US, instead of confronting your nation's inability to assert itself against the US.
"The biggy is the frightenning nationalistic arrogance of the US population."
I noticed you completely ignored other equally (if not more) "key ingredients" required for Fascist political transformation (perhaps because it wouldn't support your arguement) not present in the US such as a general consensus that liberal democracy is "too weak" to provide adequate security or withstand political instability and opposition to individualism.
"You seem to be missing what 'crusade' actually means here. You can guarantee he meant it in the christian sense."
Yes, he believes that we're in a spiritual and moral battle against Islamic Extremism. I don't see how that constitutes a being a Christian version of Saudi Arabia (theocracy).
You seem to be missing what 'crusade' actually means here. You can guarantee he meant it in the christian sense.
"to not alienate the PC crowd". er.. actually that is not to alienate the religious! Anyone with half a brain can see that Islam is no more a religion of peace than slugs are good scientists. Additionally a look at the history of christianity and the bible tells us the the same of christianity.
"I rather think the US is more likely to resemble Nazi Germany if things continue as they are.."
HAHA! You apparently know very little about the country you slander. The UK based Economist composed a "Democracy Index" of the most democratic countries around the globe from top to bottom. The USA made the top 20 most "functioning democracies." Which is more than I can say for your own country.
Perhaps UK is closer to Nazi Germany (absurd) than the United States of America?
I can promise you that UK democracy is much closer to utopian democracy than the US. But by no means is it great. This aside the UK is missing a key ingredient for a Nazi like state that the US has, and is deficient of them in several other areas. The biggy is the frightenning nationalistic arrogance of the US population. Additionally you will find that the UK pop is generally less credulous than the US. Our country would never have allowed a politician to 'win' an election the way Bush did.
"Hahahaha! Even Gravel would tell you to get a clue". Wow, what a statement in light of your own optimism: "Read up on Lincoln's violations. If we can survive Lincoln, we can survive Bush II."
If anything, the Democrats that followed (Wilson, FDR) further increased executive power and transfered the authority of the Congress to declare war over to international organizations, paving the road for future world policing and needless wars being ingrained as official USA foreign policy.
Well since you insist on referring to the original doctrine of fascism for its definition I am forced to convey where I see the US going in terms that you can understand. The US is becoming more and more like Nazi Germany.
Stem cell research is alive and well in America. It just doesn't get federal funding. The belief that embryos are living organisms to be protected is neither evidence of a "theocratic state" nor is it exclusive to the States. It's a sincere and legitimate disagreement with your opinion.
Absolute nonsense. The ban on funding at the federal level is purely because of theocratic beliefs about the souls and in petrie dishes that would be destryed.
"Bush has overseen a relentless succession of violations of the constitution."
Yes he has. Still though, the Bush constitutional violations are nothing compared to the Lincoln presidency. In fact, that's where the imperial presidency in the US began. Read up on Lincoln's violations. If we can survive Lincoln, we can survive Bush II.
"I hope the democrats change that when they get in."
Hahahaha! Even Gravel would tell you to get a clue, lol!
"Hahahaha! Even Gravel would tell you to get a clue". Wow, what a statement in light of your own optimism: "Read up on Lincoln's violations. If we can survive Lincoln, we can survive Bush II."
We "survived" in the sense that we (USA) didn't transform into a proto-Fascist (or Nazi) State which you now predict, despite being so far from it now, compared to when we came so close to it (arguably achieved it) during the Lincoln Presidency. Everything Bush II has done in regards to Constitutional violations is straight out of the Lincoln playbook from the late 1800s.
So clearly the Democrats didn't reverse the situation nor did America become an enduring Pinochet styled dictatorship.
Any fair and honest research of global politics would conclude that Russia, Serbia and Macedonia are far more susceptible to the type of political transformations that took root in post-WWI Italy and Weimar Germany than the US.
Stalinist Russia came before Fascist Italy or Nazi Germany. So by your standards, Communism or Stalinism is where the US in danger going, not Fascism. Would you declare that to be a fair analysis and understanding of history?
Now you are guilty of the crime you acuse me of. Communism is an ideology like facism that is humanistic. I rather think the US is more likely to resemble Nazi Germany if things continue as they are, not Stalinist Russia.
"A word is defined by its current use not its past use."
Clearly we disagree. When the general public and even University academia become increasingly ignorant of the complex political movements which shaped our current geopolitical sphere, I actually think we become less knowledgable about our past and less capable of honestly asssessing where we're going today by where we've been in the past.
We just end up demeaning the historical value of Fascism.
"That said; do you accept that US meets the 14 points?"
Not really. Only on the most superficial level. Religious politicians failing to get their agenda passed by Congress hardly constitutes the type of fusion of govt and God that Britt accused the US of having. Though we do have an out of control military-industrial complex.
That is such a failure to see the real picture. Bush has overseen a relentless succession of violations of the constitution. He should actually be impeached for what he has done, but so weak is US democracy now that he more or less immune. I hope the democrats change that when they get in.
The critisms of the US government regarding theocracy are with respect to where it is going more than where it is. However that does not diminish the gravity of its current state. Prosecuting a 'crusade' (Bushes own words) in the Muslim world. A ban on stem cell research.
"I think you fail to see the wood for all the trees."
Actually, the difference in outlooks is because I've actually read various published Fascist doctrines. Therefore, I recognize it as more than an oversimplified catch phrase.
"That really does not paint an accurate picture of Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia."
TA-DA! Neither were genuinely Fascist. Naziism was socialism built on the Fascist model. It still relied heavily on Marxist theory only substituting racial struggle for class struggle.
'Neither were genuinely Fascist.' fine. But you are splitting hairs here. A word is defined by its current use not its past use. Facism on the tongues of most refers to the kind of grotesque totalitarianist environment embodied by Nazism, Stalinism and so forth. I'm pretty sure we all know what we are talking about here. The US is becoming very much like pre-war Germany. It will only take economic instability to push it over the edge. What is happening in the sub-prime market?
artyfarty2, and you have demonstrated your utter ignorance and refusal to think anylitically about anything other than whatever lastest Marxist-distorted talking points is spoon fed to you by the equally ignorant online quasi-intellectuals.
You go ahead an live comfortably in your delusions.
"Fascism recognises the real needs which gave rise to socialism and trade-unionism, giving them due weight in the guild or corporative system in which diverent interests are coordinated and harmonised in the unity of the State." - Benito Mussolini
The goverment of Mussolini couldn't be more different from current US party-warfare of the special interests state in which oppossing political doctines and interest groups vie for control of the State. Fascism intergrates the State with the People under a Corporativist/Syndcalist system where the entrepreneurs and workers come together to make the laws of their industry.
Fascism is a collectivist, social-oriented nationalist revolutionary doctrine. Political scientists like EMILIO GENTILE and ROGER GRIFFIN are far more knowledgable on the doctines and complexities of Fascist theory than a leftist ideologue like Laurence Britt. Read their works on Fascism as well as the written words of Mussolini (very easy to find online) and you'll see that the US is NO WHERE CLOSE to having that kind of government.
When you are an ant stood between the left and right feet of a man they look very far apart, but the ant just a few feet away can see how close they really are. So far you have said virtually nothing that distinguishes the US from a facist nation.
Unlike Marxism or Socialism, Fascism views history and the actions of men as being motivated and driven by national struggle rather than diametrically opposed "class" struggle and recognizes the shared culture, language, and history a nation as an entity or organism with it's own life and purpose. It views the State as the central authority & arbiter of justice to organize and divergent interests into collective national interests as well as meet the material/spiritual needs of it's populace.
I will concede right away that my knowledge of facism compared with yours is somewhat lacking. That said; do you accept that US meets the 14 points? If so can you say that this bodes well for the US political and sociological well being?
The very fact that the dim "14 points" could never be circulated during the Hitler or Pinochet regimes is proof enough of how little weight or intellectual value the amature comparison has.
And why do you think that the '14 points' could not be circulated? hmmm? How long will it be before it is a crime to criticize the US government? hmmm? you are well on your way my friend.
The 14 points was written by an ideological twit who simply labled every non-communist dictatorship "fascist" and used the most common characteristics of almost every dictatorship known to man without any understanding or explaination of Fascist theory or how vastly the internal systems of examples of 'fascist govts' contradicted one another.
"GWB and his minions have all but created a facist state in the US. You really should look up the key characterists of facism."
Clearly, like most, you have absolutely no clue of what Fascist political theory is. The overrated "14 points" are characteristic of almost every dicatorship known to man. Nothing in there is specific to Fascism.
'overrated 14 points'. Overrated according to whom? Facists? No one says that each point is specific to facism. The 14 points together make up a signature that is specific to facism.
Take a look at tanya1887's US superiority complex. Take a look at the millions of US flags all around the US and the general sense of US superiority. Why is it that americans believe that they are better than everyone else? Is this self belief justified? Look at the performance in relation to crime, pollution/environment, economics. Key aspects to a healthy society. Now compare that to every other western nation. The US is an intellectual bubble, impenetrable to better reasoning and ethics.
The old senile idiot who needs to live in Russia for a while to appreciate the country he is lucky to live in. I don't know who voted him to be a senator, illiterate Mexicans may be, but he is not worth of President Bush's dirty shoe.
Everyone and everything is more worthy than president Bush. Even an steaming pile of fresh dog shit. He has brought great shame to American for every one of his actions. Especially the ones in which he acted out illegally.
If only every US Voter realised that Gravel would get elected.I estimate less than 1 percent take any interest in politics. That's about 3 Million or less out of a population of about 303 Million. I'm an Aussie and i think i care more. The ball game beers and HD TV will keep many happy as liberties become a distant memory.
It sure is looking that way so far. Americans have this one last chance to stand up and shout. They're still acting like nice people...to Nazis. What's really sad is that we could have had a party, we could have helped ourselves and people in the world but we have this horrid nightmare. We could have brought clean drinking water to all the people in the world for far less money than has already been spent in Iraq. Now that would have been a foreign policy that I could have been proud of.
Liberal guy, but so am I, so I'm gonna throw it out there that every single thing he said in this video is 100% true. I don't live in the US, so believe me when I say, the Bush administration has made that country the laughing stock of the entire planet. The US needs to stop the military campaigns, cut back on the ridiculously huge budget for it, and get a half-ways to intelligent president heading up a half-ways to competent administration to regain its credibility in the global community.
Absolutely. I live in the UK and here the US is considered a menace by many UK cistizens and an absolute laughing stock for the 1st century like credulity of vast swathes of the US population in areas of science, religion, war, economics and the environment. The US is a bad tempered child with a shotgun.
I don't know who you are. Great Britain used to be a country with noble educated people, and became degenerate declining European former empire stinking with socialism, which will be totally occupied by Muslims in no time. Obviously you are a loser with inferiority complex of resident of former empire towards the Great Empire of today. All hatred for Americans spilled on Internet invented in Pentagon, on computers created by Americans, on American YouTube by epileptics in American jeans
By all measures Britain is a better place to live than the US. This is largelly because GWB and his minions have all but created a facist state in the US. You really should look up the key characterists of facism. You will find everyone of them is now satisfied by the US government and its society. I guess we can thank the ill-educated masses of the United States of Arya for this. 'Gott mit uns'.

All you people here on YouTube who have posted negative comments about President George W. Bush have been reported to the FBI.

Bush = worst President so far
Clinton = Useless, and only added to the problems that were created by JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and Bush Sr. This problem goes back even further than that...there needs to be real change.
I honestly doubt it will even come from Obama. The people of this country are the only ones who can make that change...we can only save ourselves by organizing, agitating, and forming a solid constituency that demands real change in all aspects of the government.
phoenixatom 3 years ago 2
i honestly feel that obama cares and that obama is a good man, but he's going up against many powerful people who simply don't want this system to change. it's far too beneficial too them
itzahazylife 2 years ago
Yes, but he is the President. There are things he CAN do. His foreign policy hasn't started off very well either. He's authorized bombings on villagers at the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. His attitude against Palestine so far is quite disturbing to me as well, but not surprising. Then there are his economic advisers and cabinet choices...some of these men are actually responsible for the current economic crisis. It's kinda got me pissed to be honest, and I started as a die-hard supporter.
phoenixatom 2 years ago
yes, but if he can't do anything drastic, then what's he use?..this country needs a drastic change to get it back to what it was originally meant to be. the problem is that drastic change will be fiercely objected by the rich and elite. i don't think even the president will be able to make the changes that need to be made. i doubt obama even wants to make any drastic changes anyway.
itzahazylife 2 years ago
The people are the only ones that can bring about that change. History has proven that it is the mandate from the people through direct action, and consistent agitation against the system that force the government to do anything beneficial. The ruling powers resist of course...handing out some concessions her and there, but they don't do enough. It's going to eventually boil over into some sort of revolution, and I think that time is coming sooner than most think.
phoenixatom 2 years ago
oh definitely. the more complacent we become, the more the government will encroach. we're letting them get away with a lot. it's a shame mike gravels idea of giving the people the ability to make laws never blossomed..ur right through, eventually there will be a revolution, but the problem is, is that it HAS to happen soon,if not, this new zombified generation certainly won't do anything about it..i think the upcoming generations are going to be the most vulnerable to a undemocratic government.

AustralianStallion90 3 years ago
lmao... the fact that theres "wealth" in an "ideal" obama plan proves nothing... all the socialist leaders promised change... and they all promised wealth for thier nation... and they all failed

You pseudo-intellectuals kill me.
AustralianStallion90 3 years ago
equality in spite of wealth? which of your soviet comrads told you that?
revgothlove 3 years ago
You didn't understand what it meant, did you?
AustralianStallion90 3 years ago
no i understand what it means... i just think its bullshit.
revgothlove 3 years ago
You clearly did not.
I made no mention of the reality or efficiency of socialism, but rather it's principles which are entirely contradictory to your claims of socialism on part of the Obama administration.
AustralianStallion90 3 years ago
no i'm fairly certain that i know what equity in spite of wealth means... and i'm fairly certain that its bullshit.
revgothlove 3 years ago
Again, i don't know how many times I have to say this to you before you understand it.
I'm not making any claims about the reality of socialism. I'm not saying it works, or that equality in spite of wealth is a necessarily good ideology, as this is not the debate we are having.
I'm simply saying that socialism is equality at all costs at the risk of wealth. There is no wealth in socialism. Obama's plan is capitalism with the scale reversed. Which isn't socialism, it's capitalism.

Hello?

Another extremely important element necessary for Fascism (also non-existant in the US) is a pervasive feeling of national humiliation and/or feelings of a country being denied it's rightful role in the world.
Together, that almost sounds like RUSSIA or CHINA. But don't trouble your mind with that. It's much more politically expedient and correct to villify and make wholly inaccurate generalisations about the US, instead of confronting your nation's inability to assert itself against the US.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
"The biggy is the frightenning nationalistic arrogance of the US population."
I noticed you completely ignored other equally (if not more) "key ingredients" required for Fascist political transformation (perhaps because it wouldn't support your arguement) not present in the US such as a general consensus that liberal democracy is "too weak" to provide adequate security or withstand political instability and opposition to individualism.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
"I can promise you that UK democracy is much closer to utopian democracy than the US."
Can you back this up with research and statistical studies? There is no such thing as a "Utopian" form of government/political system.

Yes, he believes that we're in a spiritual and moral battle against Islamic Extremism. I don't see how that constitutes a being a Christian version of Saudi Arabia (theocracy).
We agree on Islam and Christianity.

"Prosecuting a 'crusade' (Bushes own words) in the Muslim world."
Bush's misbegotton war in Iraq and actions in the Middle East are 'crusades' against Radical Islamism, not all Muslims everywhere.
Bush is constantly quick to point out that "Islam is a religion of Peace" to not alienate the PC crowd.
DeAnte85 3 years ago

DeAnte85 3 years ago

I did not say that the Democrats would change things for the better. Perhaps you would like to read my words again.

Stem cell research is alive and well in America. It just doesn't get federal funding. The belief that embryos are living organisms to be protected is neither evidence of a "theocratic state" nor is it exclusive to the States. It's a sincere and legitimate disagreement with your opinion.

"I hope the democrats change that when they get in."

"Hahahaha! Even Gravel would tell you to get a clue". Wow, what a statement in light of your own optimism: "Read up on Lincoln's violations. If we can survive Lincoln, we can survive Bush II."
artyfarty2 3 years ago
We "survived" in the sense that we (USA) didn't transform into a proto-Fascist (or Nazi) State which you now predict, despite being so far from it now, compared to when we came so close to it (arguably achieved it) during the Lincoln Presidency. Everything Bush II has done in regards to Constitutional violations is straight out of the Lincoln playbook from the late 1800s.
So clearly the Democrats didn't reverse the situation nor did America become an enduring Pinochet styled dictatorship.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
Any fair and honest research of global politics would conclude that Russia, Serbia and Macedonia are far more susceptible to the type of political transformations that took root in post-WWI Italy and Weimar Germany than the US.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
Stalinist Russia came before Fascist Italy or Nazi Germany. So by your standards, Communism or Stalinism is where the US in danger going, not Fascism. Would you declare that to be a fair analysis and understanding of history?
DeAnte85 3 years ago
Now you are guilty of the crime you acuse me of. Communism is an ideology like facism that is humanistic. I rather think the US is more likely to resemble Nazi Germany if things continue as they are, not Stalinist Russia.
artyfarty2 3 years ago
"A word is defined by its current use not its past use."
Clearly we disagree. When the general public and even University academia become increasingly ignorant of the complex political movements which shaped our current geopolitical sphere, I actually think we become less knowledgable about our past and less capable of honestly asssessing where we're going today by where we've been in the past.
We just end up demeaning the historical value of Fascism.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
"We just end up demeaning the historical value of Fascism.". Fine. My crime is of speaking in terms that most people understand.
artyfarty2 3 years ago
"That said; do you accept that US meets the 14 points?"
Not really. Only on the most superficial level. Religious politicians failing to get their agenda passed by Congress hardly constitutes the type of fusion of govt and God that Britt accused the US of having. Though we do have an out of control military-industrial complex.
I could go on, but I have to go for now.

That is such a failure to see the real picture. Bush has overseen a relentless succession of violations of the constitution. He should actually be impeached for what he has done, but so weak is US democracy now that he more or less immune. I hope the democrats change that when they get in.
artyfarty2 3 years ago
The critisms of the US government regarding theocracy are with respect to where it is going more than where it is. However that does not diminish the gravity of its current state. Prosecuting a 'crusade' (Bushes own words) in the Muslim world. A ban on stem cell research.

"I think you fail to see the wood for all the trees."
Actually, the difference in outlooks is because I've actually read various published Fascist doctrines. Therefore, I recognize it as more than an oversimplified catch phrase.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
"That really does not paint an accurate picture of Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia."
TA-DA! Neither were genuinely Fascist. Naziism was socialism built on the Fascist model. It still relied heavily on Marxist theory only substituting racial struggle for class struggle.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
'Neither were genuinely Fascist.' fine. But you are splitting hairs here. A word is defined by its current use not its past use. Facism on the tongues of most refers to the kind of grotesque totalitarianist environment embodied by Nazism, Stalinism and so forth. I'm pretty sure we all know what we are talking about here. The US is becoming very much like pre-war Germany. It will only take economic instability to push it over the edge. What is happening in the sub-prime market?
artyfarty2 3 years ago
artyfarty2, and you have demonstrated your utter ignorance and refusal to think anylitically about anything other than whatever lastest Marxist-distorted talking points is spoon fed to you by the equally ignorant online quasi-intellectuals.
You go ahead an live comfortably in your delusions.

"Fascism recognises the real needs which gave rise to socialism and trade-unionism, giving them due weight in the guild or corporative system in which diverent interests are coordinated and harmonised in the unity of the State." - Benito Mussolini
DeAnte85 3 years ago
The goverment of Mussolini couldn't be more different from current US party-warfare of the special interests state in which oppossing political doctines and interest groups vie for control of the State. Fascism intergrates the State with the People under a Corporativist/Syndcalist system where the entrepreneurs and workers come together to make the laws of their industry.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
That really does not paint an accurate picture of Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia. I think you fail to see the wood for all the trees.
artyfarty2 3 years ago

So far you have said virtually nothing that distinguishes the US from a facist nation.
artyfarty2 3 years ago
Unlike Marxism or Socialism, Fascism views history and the actions of men as being motivated and driven by national struggle rather than diametrically opposed "class" struggle and recognizes the shared culture, language, and history a nation as an entity or organism with it's own life and purpose. It views the State as the central authority & arbiter of justice to organize and divergent interests into collective national interests as well as meet the material/spiritual needs of it's populace.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
I will concede right away that my knowledge of facism compared with yours is somewhat lacking. That said; do you accept that US meets the 14 points? If so can you say that this bodes well for the US political and sociological well being?
artyfarty2 3 years ago
The very fact that the dim "14 points" could never be circulated during the Hitler or Pinochet regimes is proof enough of how little weight or intellectual value the amature comparison has.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
And why do you think that the '14 points' could not be circulated? hmmm? How long will it be before it is a crime to criticize the US government? hmmm? you are well on your way my friend.
artyfarty2 3 years ago
The 14 points was written by an ideological twit who simply labled every non-communist dictatorship "fascist" and used the most common characteristics of almost every dictatorship known to man without any understanding or explaination of Fascist theory or how vastly the internal systems of examples of 'fascist govts' contradicted one another.
DeAnte85 3 years ago
Educate me then. What is facism?
artyfarty2 3 years ago
"GWB and his minions have all but created a facist state in the US. You really should look up the key characterists of facism."
Clearly, like most, you have absolutely no clue of what Fascist political theory is. The overrated "14 points" are characteristic of almost every dicatorship known to man. Nothing in there is specific to Fascism.
DeAnte85 3 years ago

The US is in desparate need of someone like Mike Gravel as president. Sadly it wont get him.
artyfarty2 3 years ago
The old senile idiot who needs to live in Russia for a while to appreciate the country he is lucky to live in. I don't know who voted him to be a senator, illiterate Mexicans may be, but he is not worth of President Bush's dirty shoe.
tanya1887 3 years ago
Everyone and everything is more worthy than president Bush. Even an steaming pile of fresh dog shit. He has brought great shame to American for every one of his actions. Especially the ones in which he acted out illegally.

If only every US Voter realised that Gravel would get elected.I estimate less than 1 percent take any interest in politics. That's about 3 Million or less out of a population of about 303 Million. I'm an Aussie and i think i care more. The ball game beers and HD TV will keep many happy as liberties become a distant memory.
johndownunder 3 years ago

The US needs to stop the military campaigns, cut back on the ridiculously huge budget for it, and get a half-ways to intelligent president heading up a half-ways to competent administration to regain its credibility in the global community.
steveman556 3 years ago 2

All hatred for Americans spilled on Internet invented in Pentagon, on computers created by Americans, on American YouTube by epileptics in American jeans
tanya1887 3 years ago
By all measures Britain is a better place to live than the US. This is largelly because GWB and his minions have all but created a facist state in the US. You really should look up the key characterists of facism. You will find everyone of them is now satisfied by the US government and its society. I guess we can thank the ill-educated masses of the United States of Arya for this. 'Gott mit uns'.
