  • Jeff Becks strat is Basswood. The one he uses, not his signature one. The actual one

  • Fyi Jeff Becks s

  • I bought one, I think is alder ....

  • why do you have a gold cloud over your head?

  • do you know if fender made stratos in japan with alder?

  • @juliodumb Yes they come in Alder and ash as well.

  • is it basswood or alder??

  • @juliodumb Basswood.. which is one of my favorite tone woods... A lot of people say it's not the better quality wood but I disagree.. the tonal quality of Basswood is amazing..:) Thanks for your comment

  • I've used Bill Lawrence 280's for a few years now in my Strat and I absolutely Love them, I haven't had better tone before. Highly recommended!!

  • I'm curious about these pickups also. Ive been looking at this site wildepickups com and the L280's are listed there... so there are the genuine pickups.

    ...and noiseless.

Any more info that anyone can provide would be helpful. The site doesn't say much about output, etc...

    Thanks

  • @IPushHard

The output of pickups doesn't really matter, if you need more volume or gain, just turn up the controls on your amp.

  • @sinbindinchin Not True! Many amps don't have gain, just volume. If you want crunch at lower volumes a higher output pickup can give that to you without the tone coloring that a boost pedal usually adds. You can always turn your guitar down to clean it up but you can't get more output when it doesn't exist.

  • @rjduval

If someone desperately needs to get that extra gain out of their amp to the extent they have to resort to higher output pickups, then they're using the wrong amp and should buy something different.

  • @sinbindinchin Sure, that's an option. There are lots of ways to get more volume or gain, that's not my point, You said it doesn't matter but it does. I'd rather have the option of turning my guitar down to clean up the tone and have the option of cranking it up. That way I can use any decent amp, not just the ones that have (often tone sucking) high gain pre-amp stages. Let's just agree to disagree...
