Very frustrating. Sorry, I don't know much about WSOD and what can cause it. You didn't give much information: white screen is gone but are the icons visible? Did the Apple bootup logo appear? Try restoring it? Why did you get the WSOD, did it get wet? If so, damage to the MB could have happened and replacing the screens won't help.
I just replaced the lcd and digitizer to cure the white screen of death. The white screen is gone, but the screen is unresponsive to my touch. Do I have a lose ribbon or what?
@harpreeto18 - Could be a number of things so try them all before you assume the screen backlight is weak and needs replacement. Of course your first step is to try the restore/reset functions and look at the brightness slider settings. If it ever got wet or dropped hard that could cause a hardware problem like the screen. Take it to Apple and see what they say, the techs have seen it all and might be able to steer you in the right direction.
Hey I was trying to do this and I got the white screen of death after replacing the LCD. I tryed the hold home and sleep button. I tried restoring in itunes. When I plug it into the computer i makes the sound that verifies that it's been plugged in. I tryed also using up volum while hold home and sleep button. Can someone help me. Please e-mail me at sheldenv4@yahoo.com
I will treat that question as if it is legitimate: disassembly of any part, broken or not requires a light touch because there are other parts that may become damaged if you simply tear it out.
Thanks for this tutorial. iPod's are SO FUCKING HARD to repair it's not even funny!
